Without telling your age, what is something from your childhood that kids today wouldn't know about?

Being dropped off downtown, at the local movie theatre for at least 2.5 to 3 hours on Saturdays to watch kid movies and cartoons. I honestly do not remember ever seeing one adult in the place, other than maybe the older "kid" selling candy and popcorn. Talk about freedom. I remember it being a true right of passage.

A few things come to mind... Polio induced iron lungs and hiding under our school desks to ward off a nuclear attack.

The Cuban missile crisis, Kennedy assassinations, MLK assassination, Vietnam war. It seems that most of my childhood, young adult memories are about very scary things.
