Just wondering how you did with giving up things for Lent?

My DH made it about 3 days :confused3

DD13 gave up ice cream and has only had it once (she had two teeth pulled and they suggested ice cream, she wasn't sure but we told her it would be OK for a special one-time thing)

I gave up all candy, pop and popcorn and so far so good :thumbsup2 It will be hard to make up Easter baskets though ;) I miss popcorn the most, we went to a movie last weekend and it was weird to not have it and a pop.

So, how did all of you do?

I did well with the candy-haven't broken that yet and I only have a few more days....

I didn't give up anything this year--I kind of forgot:rolleyes: My DD gave up something for the first time though--she decided to give up lemonade:rotfl2: She been stressing about it constantly, she cracks me up!!

Not good... great role model for my girls who go to a Catholic school... Yea MOM :lmao: ;)

My DD- 10 gave up fighting with her sisters... lasted about as long as me :rotfl2:

DD-7 gave up going to the nurses office at school... it was getting to be an issue, so far so good with her.

DD-5 gave up nothing and she even thinks she is Luthern :confused3 :rotfl: so she wants to eat meat on Fridays. She is a character.

I'll be putting about $13 in the poor box on Sunday...one quarter for each cuss.

I didnt give up anything and I stuck to it!:cool1:

I am doing GREAT! I gave up my beloved Pepsi (or all soda) and haven't had a drop.

I chose to give up eating out at McDonald's, Burger King, A & W, Wendy's and Harvey's (A Canadian fast food chain that makes wonderful charbroiled hamburgers.) I guess you can add Dairy Queen to the mix, as well.

I'm a Lutheran minister and I end up driving to and from visits quite regularly. I usually end up stopping in at one of those places for a late lunch, early supper, mid-afternoon snack during the day. I know none of the food is good for me -- but it does taste so good, and it is convenient. But it's expensive and I could put the money to better use than lining the pockets of multinational fast-food corporations.

With the help of God above and His holy angels, I have made it -- so far. The first few weeks were quite difficult. McDonald's came out with some coupons in early March (Get behind me Satan!). Burger King came out with some coupons last week. With Easter fast approaching I could, quite legitimately, celebrate on Monday afternoon with a trip to one of these restaurants but I have no desire to break this fast anytime soon.

It's nice to come out on top at the end of Lent -- but I know this isn't by any strength of my own. Solo Deo Gratia!

Gave up biting my nails ~ again! I have not chewed since Fat Tuesday.:cool1:

I gave up chocolate and haven't had any!!! I almost caved the other day after a particularly stressful meeting at work - a girl had brought in chocolate cake and I was just about to cut into it when all of my co-workers said "Don't do it...you've done so well" and then they bought me fruit snacks!

Aren't they nice??
Jenny:)
