With 3 kids, do you think we'd be better off at PBH than at RPR?

I'm a little concerned about the room size at RPR. My kids are 9, 7 and 5. (plus DH, that will make 5 of us) RPR is only 335 sq ft, while PBH is 465 or 490 sq ft for a deluxe. I like the theme, the location, the pool and the price at RPR, but am worrying about the room size. Do you think we would be much more comfortable at PBH? Is the pool there as kid-appealing? We'll be there for 3 nights. Thanks for your thoughts! :flower:

When are you going? No matter where you decide to stay, you should go to Loews' website and sign up for the loews club. It is free and even as a new member you can get free/or cheap upgrades. It is detailed on their website. It may be possible to book a deluxe room at RPR and upgrade to a suite for 35 dollars a night. The same would apply to PBH, you could get cheap upgrades (if the upgrade room is available).

We stayed at PBH last summer and loved it. I didn't see RPR at all, but our room was pretty big. I've heard the rooms at RPR are much smaller.

We're going next week (Jan. 27-30). I don't think there's any room we can upgrade to at RPR. I would love a king suite, but I believe the max. is 3 people in that room. Can you always pay a little to upgrade at check-in? I am a Loews blue member.

I dont think you could upgrade at RPR. I have stayed in a deluxe at HRH and it is 500 sq ft I believe , you could check out prices on that as well. We are staying 5 in a room in june and ( with 3 boys 12, 12, 14) so I know how you feel. I dont think we will actually be in the room much, and we booked club level, so the boys can spend part of the time in lounge getting snacks and such, and I'm planning on using a pointer from motherfletcher I learned on these boards and send the boys to the gym for showers. Kids as young as yours might need the bigger room though.

We were in a deluxe room at PBH last week. I have stayed at RPR and PBH and I would recommend Portofino Bay. The room is MUCH bigger. The bathroom is fabulous - HUGE. I think your children will enjoy the Beach Pool, as well. Looks like big fun.

The King Suite at RPR has a bedroom with a king sized bed and a sofabed (uncomfortable). There are only three of us, so it works. I wouldn't recommend it for five people. (I'm not sure they would even allow it.)

Have fun!

I love both hotels but i say go to RPR. It has a great kid pool with the water guns, and basketball goals. and if you have five people you can get a roll-away bed for $25 a night.

RPR is nice, but the square footage of the room is 335 compared to almost 500 sf at PBH. It is a big difference.

PBH is much bigger. We stayed in a sKing uite at RPH for one night 2A & 2C and it was very cozy (but it was 2 rooms). There didn't seem to be anywhere to easily put a rollaway. HRH is OK in a standard room but also very cozy with a rollaway. PBH is bigger and they seem to be the most generous on Loew's first UGs. I think next week might be a relatively quiet week so you might be able to get upgraded.

We were in Room #4203 last week at Portofino Bay and it was a great room. It was a deluxe room overlooking the harbor. We could watch for the water taxi from our window and just take the elevator down to the harbor and walk to the dock. By the time we got there, the boat was docking. It was perfect.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I'm still torn, but leaning toward PBH in a deluxe room. Was room 4203 in the West Wing? The price is $70 more a night for deluxe PBH than a standard RPR (I'm now holding reservations for both). Do you think there is any chance of an upgrade at check-in to a suite? Should I ask for this, and if so, how much do you think I would have to pay? We are Loews first blue members. I'd like to be close to the boat dock and the beach pool. :sunny:
