I've been diligently following all the Oct rates on the boards and still have my ressie with National and the price has stayed the same. Now I am wondering should I jump ship with Alamo with a lower price

right now i have a Standard SUV with National price for week
$484 with weekly discount and Emerald club discount (total discount $85)
(if there are any other out there please let me know)

We have to have an SUV - we drive one and have lots of luggage non negotiable

now alamo has some great rates plus I'm an Annual pass holder so do I jump ship and go with alamo?

my concerns
1) hubby likes the convenience of the no counter at national, just go to kiosk and drive away... is this similar with alamo

2) What type of SUV's are on the Alamo lot, i know national has a lot to choose from (we are hoping for a jeep or ford) I don't want a gmc or dodge product

help, this is our very first time renting and i'm hoping the first of many since I am the one who is begging for a car (get sick on the buses)

Check out Budget if you want an SUV. I believe the rate is $159.00 plus taxes for the week so probably around $225.00. It is however an intermediate SUV (like and Ford Escape). So if you could get by with that it would save you a couple hundred dollars. Good luck.

Since National and Alamo are basically the same company they work the same. We used Alamo in Aug. and went right to the garage to get the car. If you book the car on-line with a discount code and use a coupon on top of that you can enter some of your information ahead of time on-line and then can go to the kiosk to finish the rental and head to the garage. If you book on-line with a discount code but no coupon, you can check-in on-line (this is what we did), print out the info, and head straight to the garage, pick out your car and then just show the paperwork and your license/s at the booth at the gate.

National, Enterprise and Alamo are all owned by Enterprise Holdings, they have the same cars and they have the same variety. If you go to Alamo's website, they will list their vehicles (look at the bottom of the page) the same applies to National.

You might want to reconsider the Jeep as it is owned by Chrysler who also owns Dodge.
