We are not big dessert eaters, well my 11 yr old is ;)
I was thinking of doing this in August on my son's b-day. I thought it would be a nice way to close his birthday, eating desserts and watching the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.

But seriously, is it really worth it if the rest of the family really doesn't eat desserts? I can't have much sugar (fruit OK if they have fruit) and we also have a diabetic in our traveling party.

Is it worth the price just for the fireworks?

Also with going in August are the desserts a runny mess because of the humidity?

I did this for DS's birthday last August. We do eat sweets though. But there is a lot of fresh fruit and they will make up a plate for diabetics with treats that they can enjoy.

Okay, YES it is expensive, but my DS thought it was a really cool bday present and he was turning 14 at the time. I told him that I booked it especially for him and that it was very, very hard to get...;). In the end, I told him the truth, but it wasn't the price that mattered or the sweets. It came down to a nice area to watch the fireworks, not crowded so we could actually speak as a family, no one blocking us at the last minute, and best of all, Tinkerbells wave and wink were especially for him:lovestruc. Good luck on your decision.

Forgot to add, no runny desserts at all, very well chilled. Not a drip of chocolate melted of the chocolate covered strawberries. Actually because there are less people in the area, it is a good way to cool off a bit from the crowds.

Trying too decide if I want too plan a Wishes dessert party for my Niece when I take her for her 18th Birthday...:goodvibes

I like the idea of less crowds and actually relaxing too watch wishes...Plus it will be December when we go so the castle will be lit up...:santa:

So I really need too decide if it is worth the extra cost...I may wait and see what kind of reviews come out of the summer dates?

If you do it..Report back on what you think?

I went in April of this year also with a group of 12. Here is my review:

Wishes Dessert Party...

I admit this was the second time we have attended but this was much more work with having 12 people. We lined up at 8:40pm for a 9:00pm party. The workers were very effecient and we all got our wrist bands. We were missing 2 people but they still let us enter at around 9ish or a few minutes before. The desserts were the same as last year, and they added a few extra drinks this time. We were offered hot chocolate and white milk. Both were a great addition. The desserts were as wonderful as we remembered and the company was delightful. We were lucky as the rain from most of the day did end and Tinkerbell flew over us in all her glory. It really is amazing to be there and see the fireworks. We did stand at the wall. The desserts were "NOT" taken away after the fireworks and if we were not so tired, we could have stayed and enjoyed a bit more. Also, I asked 4 different people and "TIPS ARE NOT ACCEPTED". They are included in the price. Hope you enjoy some of the pictures....

As of today, reservations are being taken through August 14th.

We were there last week and what a great way to view the fireworks!

Even though we did end up standing up at the wall to watch the fireworks, we didn't have to scope out a spot an hour beforehand. Instead, we scoped out desserts! And with the wristbands, we were able to take our LO out to run off some sugar before the fireworks started.

We probably didn't eat our share of desserts, but I would do it again.

They also had a Photopass photographer there to take your picture with the castle!

Enjoy!

I just know they had it last year in December so I am "wishing" for it again this year so we can try it out!:santa:

We will be there on Dec 8th.....I am planning it for a non party day at MK so we have plenty of time too spend at the park and enjoy the castle lights and Wishes.:goodvibes

You only live once....Might as well go for it.....:thumbsup2

I most likely will book when they open up the dates...

We did the party last week, it was great to have a spot to watch the fireworks and to not be in the crowds, but the desserts were mediocre at best. The tarts were soggy and the chocolate on the strawberries were waxy. We ate at Bome the next night and my husband said that he didn't understand why the desserts at the party were not half as good as the ones at Boma:rotfl:

So if you are going for the desserts I would skip it, but if you are going to have a less crowded spot to watch the fireworks, (which is why we did it), and think of the dessert as an extra perk I would do it.

I doubt we would do it again, but since our focus was a relaxing spot to watch the fireworks and not the desserts I am not disappointed that we did it.

We went last July, so it was cheaper at only $17.00/adult plus tax (can't remember child price), and we didn't think it was worth it. I can't imagine paying $27.00/adult!

Although I got spectacular shots of Wishes (I do have spectacular shots from other places around the park as well - great cameras will do that!), we didn't find it an amazing event:

- took forever to check in
- stifling hot (not a good venue, especially not in the summer heat)
- desserts were weak, soggy and warm = yuck! (way too many cream desserts)
- beverages were warm
- photopass CM was crabby
- they cleared places way too early

We are glad we did it 1x to see for ourselves, but we won't do it again, especially not at the ridiculous prices they charge.

We seem to be in the minority though as so many people seem to love this event - we've eaten pretty much everywhere on property, including almost all Signatures, so we would much rather eat good meals, and get an ice cream or fruit for dessert. We've eaten some increbible desserts at many WDW restaurants.

Tiger :)

i agree with the PP. we did this last year and found it to be not worth the money at all. Most if not all of the desserts could be found at any one of the buffet places. it was reallllllllllllllly hot there. the tables are too close together (serious get to know your neighbor time) although when placed on the buffet the chocolate was not melted, by the time you brought it back to your table to eat it was. i know this is not a good description but overall all it was not a really enjoyable experience...oh yeah, and if it rains and the parade and/or fireworks are canceled you do not get your money back and cannot cancel last minute

It's so nice to hear everyone's honest reviews. I just booked this for July. Hopefully, all the complaints from the people who went last summer have been ironed our and it's better!

Also, I asked 4 different people and "TIPS ARE NOT ACCEPTED". They are included in the price. Hope you enjoy some of the pictures....

Hmm, that's interesting because when I called to book the CM on the phone said, "Tip was NOT included" in the price he quoted me.

We did this last 4th of July and I was glad we didn't have to deal with the crowds but I won't ever do it again.

There is NO air conditioning and for that price I want to be comfortable.

I say take that money, get a few desserts from the places on Maini Street. Get a place on the curb and enjoy them for half of that price.

It is very humid in Florida in the summer, but we are planning to go in December?? I would think it would be more comfortable than mid summer.

If they open up the dates I may book.....We will see. I just think the castle lights would be an added feature too enjoy during Wishes?:cloud9:

Think I will see how some of the review go from this year...:goodvibes

Something too think about!:rolleyes1

Wow I am sorry the desserts were disappointing. I wonder if you caught them on an off night. We went last August and all the desserts were wonderful and fresh.

To the OP, I thought it was a wonderful experience. Yes we do eat dessert (of course no where near $20 worth LOL )but regardless of that it was a special night. As someone else mentioned it is pricey but if it is in your budget I say give it a try. With the variety of desserts/fruit and drinks I am sure you will find something that allows you to enjoy that portion of the party :)

I just asked a question regarding tables (the clueless CM told me standing room only) and the reply I got is not only are their tables they have put some fans in and moved the desserts up to the 2nd level because there is some air conditioning there. So it does seem they are working on making it more comfortable during the summer months :)

Here is a picture I took of some of the desserts. It was mid August and it took a bit for me to stage the photo. As you can see the desserts looked very fresh and no melting here :)

It's at the Magic Kingdom and at the Tomorrowland Terrace. You have book it through Disney Dining.

I've never been so I can't answer but the desserts look delicious! Where in MK do they have it?
