Wishes Dessert Party, is it worth it? Lots of questions!!!

It seems that the prices for the dessert party range approx. $20 to $30 per adult.

1. Do you find that the quality of the desserts is worth the price?

2. Do you feel that the party is crowded?

3. Is there enough space on the railing for everyone to get a decent view of Wishes?

4. If you have done the party before, would you do it again?

5. Do you have any pics and/or tips to share?

Well, you will get a lot of different opinions on this one. I went in June and will be going again on Dec 13th. To me, it is worth it to have a place to sit and wait for Wishes. Some of the desserts were great and some not to my liking. It didn't feel crowded to me at all and there was plenty of room at the railing.

We did it last year (early April) and will definitely repeat for Spring Break this year. It was so relaxing to have a place to sit and relax, rather than having to defend a two-square-foot area on Main Street. Especially good if you're traveling with grand parents, who might not be up for standing around for an hour to hold their place. The dessert itself was okay - fun but not astounding - but I think the big draw is just having a place to sit!

We went to the party last year and it was great! It is all you can eat and drink with many desserts from chocloate covered strawberries to creme brulee, cakes, pies, petit fores and more. The drinks range from punches to coffees and teas along with soda. The seating is reserved with your parties name on the table so no rush to be 1st in line. The area does not seem crowded and we enjoyed the time to eat, relax and wait for the fireworks.It is also a great time to discuss your vacation with other party members. You can trade alot of ideas,suggestions, and memories which makes for a fantastic time.
We also watched the Spectromagic parade that comes up main street!
We liked it so much we booked again for 3/27/11 for 4 people which totaled $98, not a bad price for the food and drink options.
For the price and time (2-2 1/2 hours), I think the price is very affordable and a good use of your dollars! Reserve your space now before it fills up!

1. Do you find that the quality of the desserts is worth the price? No, and we only paid $17.00/pp. I can't imagine paying $28.00/pp! We went when it first started in July 09, but we found way too many cream desserts, desserts were warm and mushy, beverages were warm too.

2. Do you feel that the party is crowded? Yes

3. Is there enough space on the railing for everyone to get a decent view of Wishes? It didn't seem like enough spots, but we got up to the railing early with the kids. You cannot see Spectro though, so I am always amazed when I read posts about how people viewed Spectro - it is way too far back to adequately see Spectro.

4. If you have done the party before, would you do it again? No

5. Do you have any pics and/or tips to share? I don't have access to my photos at the moment, but I did get great Wishes photos.

It was a fun little thing to do, not something I have to do again.

I thought the desserts were good.

We had a good view of the fireworks.

I didn't find it crowded.

However I found they didn't keep the buffet stocked and picked up the desserts way too early.

It is nothing fantastic or amazing.

I am OP and did book for Jan 3rd and here is why...

1. NO matter how much I read about the party, I will always wonder unless I try it for myself.

2. I will be going during cold weather and have no worries about the desserts sitting out.

3. The price is right. $24 pp for 2.5 hours of desserts, drinks, AND a for a sure view of Wishes

4. I wanted a little something extra since Jan 3rd is my one year anniversary.

5. The WDW operator made sure to add my anniversary celebration to my party reservations. (Maybe a lil pixie dust will be thrown )

6. I want the feeling that I am attending something extra special at Disney. Something that not everyone else does.

7. Tables are assigned, so no worrying about getting the best table. Also that touch adds a little feeling of "special"

8. and for the drum roll..... (forgive me men) PMS is scheduled for that day! I will need the extra chocolate.

I just noticed that I originally responded to your post regarding the price. We will be attending the same night. So there is a good chance we may bump into each other at the party on 1/3. This will be our 3rd dessert party, so that says something about how we feel about the Wishes Dessert Party. For us, the expense is worth it. And I even have to pay for 2 "adult" prices for my girls (11 & 13 years old). And you are right, that you won't know until you try it. We have always felt really special while attending the party.

I'm new to posting, but if noone is able to post pictures, I am willing to attempt it. I'll probably be able to get to it sometime this week. I know I got some great pictures from our trip last April.

I think I will be booking this for my Nov. 2011 trip!! I am hoping to get it on the first night in Disney as it will be the start of our Honeymoon!!

My DH and DD(8) and myself did the Desert Party this past Sept. We all felt it was awesome. My DH and I thought it was worth the money. I think you have to go in with an open mind and not think about the price. I don't think we ate enough to cover the cost but to have a seat and relax and have deserts was the best.

I would do it again in a heart beat.

1. Quality and variety of desserts were very good. Also, the price is not just for the desserts though, you're also paying for "private" viewing area.

2. It is not very crowded. They only sell a limited number of tix.

3. Probably enough room for 90% of everyone...some will stay seated anyway.

4. probably will not do again. definitely glad i did it once, but price isn't worth it to do again IMO. but i would never tell anyone not to do it.

5. If you REALLY want a specific spot by the rail, you'll probably have to claim it 20-30 minutes before Wishes begins.

So wea attended MVMCP tonight...12/5.
We also attended the Wishes dessert party.
Did we feel it was worth it? Depends how you look at it.
We had an amazing view of the fireworks, and the castle. Tinkerbell flies right over you, the christmas fireworks are phenomenal. As far as the dessert is concerned, if you are a dessert person, than I think you will enjoy it. We are not dessert people, which kind of defeats the purpose. Am I glad we did it? Yes. Would I do again? No .. Hope that helps!

Oh, and as far as the railing is concerned, you will most likely have to push and pry a little bit. I actually had some rude women tell me I was blocking the view of her camera and camera stand, so I looked her dead in the eye, and said "did your camera pay for the party too"? Let's just say she backed off.
I mean, we had a good table, but then everyone gets up anyway and goes to the railing, so it really doesn't matter

I did the dessert party with my 2 kids and we threw in a DISmeet with princess belle at the same time, it was magical.
the desserts were yummy, enormous chocolate covered strawberries, great for PMS

the view was fantastic and I got great photo's of the fireworks!

We loved the Wishes Dessert Party! My In-Laws joined us...we wanted to do something memorable with them since this was their first visit ever to WDW...and they are in their 80's! The desserts were yummy and there was PLENTY to go around! We had a SUPER view of Wishes and walked right up to the railing just as it was starting. I did not find the party to be over-crowded, but there were plenty of people there. We went Dec 1st and it was downright cold that night, so the people kept the wind down! All in all was a great experience...worth it for the view of Wishes in the park. It was the only time we watched the fireworks in the park our whole trip as we were chosen as Family of the Day at Contemporary and upgraded to an AWESOME Magic Kingdom View room!!

We did the dessert party the very first week it was offered. Unfortunately they still had some major kinks to work out. Some of the things Ipost may have changed.

We like it but would not do it again.

1) When we went the seating was ridiculously close together. every time some one got up to get more desserts you ended up bumping into some one else.

2) since it was set up on the lower level of the noodle station, the lights to the upper level were not dimmed. definitely took away from the atmosphere of the fireworks.

3) Desserts were very yummy and the pro is that you get to sample a lot of different varieties.

4) we could not view spectromagic parade and since we tend to get a prime spot for the parade we just stay for the fireworks.

5) con: $100 bucks for a family of 4. We simply don't eat that many tiny desserts to make it more than a "once" type of deal. even with 2 teenage boys.

All in all, it was a very nice experience but for the price for a family of 4, we would probably skip and just get a yummy dessert from Main street bakery.

We were there last April and if it's offered again this May, we're there!

I didn't feel like it was at all crowded and our entry time was early enough for us to get a round of desserts and enjoy them before the fireworks even started.

It was definitely worth it for us and our 2 yr old to be able to have a great view without jostling for space on Main Street. And the view of Tinkerbell was awesome.

I would definitely recommend it and will definitley do it again!

Oh, and the desserts were tasty too! =)

This caught my eye right away...

Just wondering who told you that you would be there for 2.5 hours? It took forever for us to be seated, so we got in about 30 mins before Wishes, had our desserts, watched Wishes, and we were out of there within the hour. Last year, they removed the desserts and had tables cleared during Wishes, so mostly everyone was out within 1 hour.

Perhaps it's changed, but 2.5 hours is a ridiculously long time, and the Wishes party we attended was made to feel like we had a time limit - especially since all desserts/beverages were cleared during Wishes, so they expected everyone to be pretty much gone once the fireworks ended.

I would hate for you to be disappointed, so perhaps someone who has gone recently will have a better idea of what the timeline is for a more recent Wishes party.
