We just came back from our "Surprise Trip" and did the dessert party during Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party.
IMHO, I don't think I would do it again. I think the night could just be chalked up to a series of bad coincidences--but, I still don't think I want to do it again!
First, when we made the reservation-we were quoted what time it started and what time we had to "check-in". When we checked into OKW-I had them print out a schedule of all our ADR's---it showed a different time. Called Disney Dining...was given yet a different time !@#$%^&*! Decided to go with the original reservation time-got here, was told we were too early-go have a seat on the patio-just a short distance away...came back, when they told us to...now we were 30-40 deep in line !@#$%^&!
Ohh and when we did first arrive, a girl handing out cookies and cocoa for
MVMCP--didn't know anything about a dessert party!@#$%^&!
Then, we finally get checked in and I ask when will I receive the bill? The only took my credit card at the time of reservation---nothing had been charged...we'll get a manager to help you with that??? Okayyyy...still waiting-trip has now been over 10 days now and still don't know when I will get charged for this!!!!!
The desserts...all miniature, nothing more than samples of desserts...all be it, you could have as much as you wanted...but seriously...a dessert party with no pie, no cake what the !@#$%^&! Yes, there was fresh sliced fruit, chocolate covered strawberries, coffee, tea, decaf, cocoa, lemonade and fruit punch. Sugar Free?---didn't see any.
The last straw was when our server, Ed, told us to move our chairs up next to the wall about 10 minutes before the fireworks went off...The 12 year old did and then was approached by a "manager" who told her she wasn't allowed to do it....the "manager" didn't even come speak to or acknowledge, me the parent, even existed...I had to run her down and ask what the problem was...then I got nothing but TOTAL attitude!!! First time EVER anywhere on Disney property did I ever experience something like that. Suffice to say, I was not a happy camper.
When my DBF came back from the restroom with the 9 year old son, he asked what happened, I explained and he went to speak to the "manager"--she gave him attitude.
Suffice to say it ruined the mood of the night! Since, then I found out the DBF had the ring in his pocket to propose to me during the fireworks--but he didn't do it then because of the "manager" He wanted the proposal to be "memorable" not "MEMORABLE-thanks to a manager" I have no kind words about that particular manager.
And yes, he did propose later in the trip in front of the Sorceror's Hat in HS.
