Hi! With all the talk of dessert parties lately, I started to wonder if anyone has asked about doing a dessert party for Wishes at the Polynesian instead of the Grand Floridian?

I am not familiar with their beach area, so I don't even know if they have an area that would be feasible, but I know lots of people choose there to watch Wishes so I was just curious. Thanks!

I think you would have to ask your planner. I wasn't given the Polynesian as an option but I didn't specifically ask about it. I asked if I could have one in the MK and was told no. The only option that was given to me was the GF marina patio.

I think you can see the fireworks quite well. I am going by pictures I have seen of a party that Janet2K had. She might come on and provide some information or you can try doing a search. You cannot hear the music though and need to have the music piped in.

Our room at the Grand Floridian overlooked the Marina and we could see the fireworks, but they are sideways - you are looking at the side of the castle, not straight on, so you can see the cross-section/layers of the fireworks (if that makes sense), not the head-on view where they all appear together....

But hey, we were sitting on our balcony eating free desserts from the concierge lounge, so I'm not complaining! :goodvibes

Oh, and there was actually a dessert party going on on the ground floor below us!

Starseeker1221, a few years ago I specifically asked Disney if it was possible to have an outdoor party at the Polynesian. I was told that it was not. However, that was then and this is now. If you are interested in that location, definitely ask if it is available as a venue. I know that several years ago it was because I saw photos of an outdoor party (and it was quite a large party) that was held there.

How well can you see Wishes from the GF marina patio?

SailorsPrincess, I have held three parties at the Grand Floridian's marina location. All of my parties have incorporated a viewing of the Wishes fireworks show. I had to pay extra money for the fireworks' soundtrack to be piped into the venue, but it was a cost that I was willing to incur. By the way, that cost has increased over the years. Please check with the FTW folks to find out what the current pricing is.

Here are a couple of fireworks photos from my events. They should give you an idea as to how well you can view the fireworks from across Seven Seas Lagoon:

(Those photos were taken by the Disney photographers who have photographed my events. I've always been pleased with their work.)

For one of my parties, the fireworks were slightly different -- you can see that in the third photo. The perimeter fireworks (I think that's what they're called) went off since it was the night of a special event that was being held inside the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. The Wishes fireworks do not normally look like that. I thought it was important to mention this.

As you can probably tell, I adore the marina location. I wouldn't hesitate to host an event there. But that is me and this is you. ;) Good luck with your decision.

I forgot to include the link to a slide show of the fireworks photos from one of my events: click here. (You can adjust the speed of the slide show as it plays, or you can simply click through the photos very quickly.)

I hope that helps.

Thank you so much for posting these, they are great for figuring out what the view would be like across the lagoon!! The marina does look like an awesome location, I will definitely give it some thought! :)
