Nothing open for August as of this morning either....:rolleyes1. Hey, did anyone read the recent bad review in another thread? Now I'm wondering if it's even worth all this trouble!!! :confused3

I have been following that thread and at first I was like uh oh, when she mentioned about being "shoved" to the back table and not being able to see do to the roof overhang but it sorta stands to reason she would have been put in the rear(for safety reasons) since she had a stroller.
One reason we are doing the party is so we can sit during the fireworks since I have a bad back and knee problems.

Like so many of the posters said buffets will always have some people who fill take their fill of anything at a buffet even it it leaves none for anyone else

What I found even more disturbing was the poster who said about having to wait in line to be checked in while the one CM on duty also took credit card payments from people who were walk ups letting them go ahead of those with a previous paid ADR.

I am still going to book it for my trip it seems most reviews are favorable

One bad review does not sway me - we are going during spring break and I do not do well waiting...was going to say in line but really I just don't wait very well at all

You all are right; one bad review should not scare me off of trying what many others have found to be a very enjoyable experience! I will keep on checking for those dates...:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if they can accomodate a group of 9? Would we be separated into different tables?

we had a party of 13 one time and a 10 the other and the 13 was split (kids at one table, adults at the other, and they abutted one another) but the 10 was all at one table...

Thank you!! :goodvibes

Hope you don't mind, this is my review from the first time we went. I have been back many times..... But I truly think you need to have the mindset going in that makes the evening.... (This was in 09)

I booked the party on the first night of our vacation, and to the best of my knowledge at that time, this would be the last night it would presented. I was very excited about it, even though some of the reviews were coming back negative. First, I booked it for DS's birthday which was exactly one week before the event. Second, I kept it secret. This is big for me. Secrets do not come easy, and are punishable in my family if "I" am not allowed in on them. Yes, I am selfish that way. So the background is a day that started around 3am., and a full day at Magic Kingdom, talk of a secret throughout the day, and snatching of desserts from Mom at dinner. All went well. We had 8pm. reservations for the 9pm showing of Wishes.....

At 7:30pm, I was shot!! 100% down and out couldn't walk another step "shot". (bad back + stubborn + refusal to use any sort of help = SHOT)

We arrived at 7:30 at the Noodle Terrace Station and they had the signs up for the party but were not letting anyone in. I asked a worker if I could just please sit inside because of my back and I must have looked horrible cause they led us in, got me cold water, and said that we would be the first to our tables. We were given a card with the letter "C" and we waited. A little bit later other people showed up, but no one else was allowed in until 8ish. Sorry to those who thought I was breaking the rules, I really did need to sit. We were given our wrist bands and were seated in what I thought was the best seat in the house. Front row, near the buffet, off a bit in the corner and perfect for viewing everything around us. I told my son that I had booked him a private party for his birthday and that "he" was very special to get it. He actually believed me for a good part of the evening. But, best of all, I broke my no picture rule, so here it goes...

The Desserts:

The view was unobstructed (sp?)

The desserts:

Mango Shooters: Very good, tart, and have a "consistancy" to them. I am sure they are a hit or miss with people.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries: Excellent!! The berries were perfect, not mushy or overripe and the chocolate was very good, definetely not Hershey's.
Tiramasu: Very rich and wonderful. DS started a new love affair with this dessert!
Tarts: Different fillings like lime, custard, and chocolate. All very good. The fruit was excellent, except the crust was not "homemade". It was more of a mass produced bottom and it was very evident. Still very good though.
Fresh Fruit: very good, fresh, and cold for the first half of the evening.
Truffles: very good, but rich, one at a time... one at a time!;)
Creme Brulee: I was so excited to try this. I have never had it and it was on a lot of the menus throughout Disney. It was so wonderful and I found a new "favorite" for desserts. I still dream about them. I have even googled restaurants in our area looking for them.... Yes it was that good!
Peanut Butter dessert: Also very good and rich....
Cookies and Brownies: Oh my, I am editing this in, I can't believe I forgot them! Soft wonderful large cookies and brownies sent from the Heavens, thick and chewy. So delicous. We wanted to put them down, stop going for more, but they called our name.. (They named me thick waistline:))

Off to drinks: Coffee, tea (hot), tea cold unsweetened - plain and blackberry, lemonade, milk, and water... I would recommend anything unsweetened to take the bite off all the desserts you are eating!

Now that was all the food, which there was plenty of and was refilled whenever needed.

My review of the party:

I am old enough to know that you need to make the best out of any situation. I thoroughly enjoyed the party. The view of the castle was breath-taking. The view of wishes was very good and I was totally engulfed in the magic from start to finish. Tink waving as she flew by was like a dream coming true. It was pure magic. My whole family felt this way. We all felt privledge to be able to be part of the party. There were tears from all sets of eyes in my family.

Quote of the night: Me to DS: "I planned this all for you! It is your night, enjoy it." DS to me: "I love you, Mom."

**just a side note, I stated above that I make the best out of everything. During the whole party, I was really in a lot of pain. It really must be something very special for me to be able to eat as much as I did while feeling this way, and also standing for the whole showing of Wishes. I never stand. I have seen Wishes from many different views. Each view if different and unique. This view was magical. I felt like a queen next to her Castle.

Below are the views of the OP and just that, MY VIEWs. I do not mean to take away from any other reviews of the event, good or bad!

Was it worth the money? Absolutely, even with the increase that was just put through. Will I do it again? Definetely, in a heart beat. Why do I think there are bad reviews of the event? It is the end of the night, everyone is tired. People tend to go in with the attitude that everything has to be perfect because you are paying for it, an entitlement thing. Was everything perfect? Absolutely, NOT. Is anything in life absolutely perfect, NO, because then everything would be predictable and boring!!

Tinker'n'Fun - Thanks for the review, I know it will the right choice for DH and myself he loves his sweets and coffee so it is ideal and the view of the castle is great!

Tinker'nFun thanks for the review. I think that you are right and most things in life generally depend on the attitude that you go into it with.

I have a question about the distance from the railing to the castle. Are you actually further away than if you were sitting on Main Street? In the photo it looks so far away.

Also, Is there room for everyone to stand at the railing without being super crowded?

I appriciate everyone's opinions and can't wait to try and get reservations!

When I have been there, I have noticed anyone who wanted against the railings had room. Like my hubby always stands behind my arms around my waist, so we would only be one at the railings.

Not sure if you have ever been before, but the spot is over the bridges going into the worlds, so you are a hub and bridge away from the castle. Yes you can definitely sit in front of the castle and be closer. I guess if I were to go down Main Street, you would be at the popcorn stand after the hub or approximately at Caseys, around that far away.

I thought the view was perfect for us, and as I have said, we have done many views, even as far as POTC ride area. Each view is different and unique. Some better than other, none are bad in my opinion.

We have also done the dessert party twice... the most recent time being this past January 15! We love it. When you call to book the party you are warned by the CM that "this is a standing room only event". Both times We sat in the middle of the tables and felt that an hour was plenty of time to enjoy coffee and desserts. The view was fine to eat by knowing that for the actual show We could stand by the railing. There were definitely people there making a meal of the desserts and everyone knows you need more than an hour for a good Disney meal...LOL! At about 5 minutes before Wishes We moved to the railing and there was plenty of room for all. We did the Pirates and pals fireworks cruise instead this April and though it was nice... it was much more costly and weather effected our cruise. We are planning to do the dessert party again... but I would have to put some big thought into doing the pirate cruise again.

thank you for comparing P&P cruise and WDP... we've done the dessert party, we've done a private wishes cruise and are considering the P&P cruise, but now may lean toward dessert party again... the cost is only one factor... i had not considered weather (heck, we can eat desserts in the rain!)...

We went 2 years ago, and we absolutely loved it. We are waiting with baited breath for the August dates to open up. We went in August 2 years ago, and we want so badly to go again.

We did it last year and June and were very happy with it! We were too full from dinner to enjoy too much, but we loved the location for Wishes. I'm now trying to book it for our August trip and it doesn't seem like it's open for booking August yet? Is that correct?

Sure... I had heard good and bad reviews for the P&P cruise. But one of my best friends and her kids loved it so we booked it! It was very nice and the snacks prior to the cruise were good snacks... big variety... fruit, prepackaged popcorn, cotton candy, brownies, granola bars, trail mix, coffee, tea, sodas, waters... Nice snacks but it also lacks the intimacy of the Dessert Party!:goodvibes A storm began to roll in and we were not allowed to go on the boats... at 10 of 10 (late wishes show) we were then given a chioce of 50% back or hurry onto the boats and miss part of the show. We thought paying for the prepackaged snacks was steep so we did the cruise. If it weren't for missing about the first 8 minutes of Wishes this would have been a great experience... but all in all weather DOES play a factor and we missed part of the show. Had we been at the Dessert party we would not have missed a single firework!

As of this am August was still not bookable online, I am waiting for October myself.

July began booking on April 21 with the exception of July 3 & 4 which opened up later. So might not be much longer before they open up the bookings for August

I called this morning for late August and the woman said she couldn't get in. She said maybe it is booked. I've been calling and checking online so I'm hoping it just isn't up yet.
I guess they have no way of knowing if it is booked or not loaded on yet?

Not to worry - it's not available for booking yet. I also called, and then double-checked the online ADR calendar to confirm. The August dates are grayed out again (they've been going in and out). So we are still waiting...

I checked too this morning and noticed the calendars were once again GONE :sad2: I even tried typing in the date but it just reverted back to today's date :headache:
