Wishes cancellation due to rain?

We have a reservation for the Wishes dessert party on 2/1. Right now, there's a 60% chance of rain. I know this could definitely change before then, but it got me thinking about Disney cancelling the dessert party. *We* don't want to cancel, but if Disney would due to inclement weather, we couldn't reschedule b/c it is our last night and there is no other availability.

So, in your experience, how bad does the weather have to be before this event is cancelled? Just rain, or would if have to be lightning/thunder/wind? Or only in a hurricane? If Wishes is cancelled, will they still hold the dessert party? Will they call us to tell us if its cancelled?

Hi,

We went to the dessert party in December when they cancelled the parade. It was raining heavy and announced overhead the parade was cancelled.

Seating for the dessert party had already started. Wishes was not cancelled. There wasn't any lightning around us. If there was thunder, couldn't hear it.

We all enjoyed the hot cocoa and yummy desserts though!

No refunds. One woman ahead of us kept complaining because the parade was cancelled and we should have been refunded. Wishes was still on and it was the best seat, dry under the terrace! After Wishes, the rain stopped and we left the party and the crowds were gone. So was the rain! :goodvibes

Enjoy your dessert party! It was heavy, heavy rain (that went away, yay!)

I don't know about the dessert party specifically, but Wishes will go on unless there are really strong winds (i.e,. hurricane). I've been there when it was a total downpour (the kind where you can't see very clearly through the falling rain) and Wishes still went on as scheduled.

We went to the Dessert Party back in June '12 and Wishes was scheduled for 10 pm. About 9:15, a HUGE thunderstorm rolled through and they ended up delaying everything. We waited until about 10:30, and they showed the castle show (Magic Memories and You), then they delayed longer. We finally gave up on the fireworks at about 10:50, and headed out. Fireworks started just after we got out of the turnstiles on our way to the buses. LOL!

Still had all the desserts out, coffee, tea, etc. Kids were beat and we had morning breakfast reservations, so we just couldn't hold off on leaving any longer.

One thing to keep in mind, if it's raining, the best place to be is under the Terrace having desserts. :D The only problems for us (other than the delay) on that one was that there was so much rain, so fast, that the floor drain was actually backing up and flooding the front part of the Terrace. Had our kids kinda scared...and we had a front row table that we had to scoot back because we were just on the drip line for the terrace roof.
