Wishes 10/8/11 WP/GF-- Love's First Kiss-- Trip Report Complete

Hi. I am not a Disney bride but I love reading about Disney weddings. I have been married for 16 years (this October) and have three children. My wish is to have a VR for our 20th anniversary. I get a lot of ideas from these reports and yours is not exception! Everything was absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to comment on so many things, it took me all day to read your whole PJ/TR today but I'm finally caught up.

Snow White is my favorite princess too! So your theme is great for me.

I also had to comment about when you were at the F&W that you had no idea who Billy Ocean was. I laughed out loud because I know exactly who he is (made me feel old LOL). He sung Carribean Queen, maybe you can look it up on you tube.

I want to go on a Disney cruise too. I was thinking about doing my VR on the cruise but I know my kids would want to be at WDW as well. Maybe do the VR at WDW and then go on a cruise, just like you.

Again I love everything about your wedding and might have to steal some ideas for when it's my turn.

Can't wait to read more!

Laura:goodvibes

Thanks for reading! We Snow White fans have to stick together! I think what I like best about Snow White is that, not only do you want to be her, but you actually like her as a character. She's charming. I LOVE seeing little girls around the parks that are dressed as Snow White. For a small child to walk along the wall of princess dresses, and not pick the one that is blue and sparkly (or pink and sparkly, etc)-- I just feel like that girl has some SUBSTANCE to her  When I have a daughter, I can't wait to see which dress she picks for herself.

Haha My husband and I are the same way with sunburns. I am too afraid of cancer and I have had some really bad ones when I was a teen. I was a stupid teen thinking, as fair as I am, I could still get tan. My husband just toughs it out also. Granted he isn't as fair as me but he def. can burn the first time out in the sun. He always roughs it out when we go to Disney and on the cruise. I don't get how he does because I can't handle it either and I become a major ***** when I have a sunburn...haha

Yep, I was the same way. As a teen I would think, well I'll just put on a little sunscreen, lay out for hours, and then I'll be tan! Four hours later, I was essentially a big blister. I don't do that anymore!!

My DIS friends, I am looking for a little advice. I want to order a large canvas print from DFAP this week. Brandon and I have picked our favorite picture (which was a waste of time, since it was the very first picture that came to my mind!) However, we're having a difficult time deciding if we want the canvas in B&W or color. The B&W I feel is more timeless and elegant, but the color shows more details. Is it a waste to get such a large print in B&W? Opinions?

Thank you!

Maybe it's because it's in yor signature, but I am really partial to the black and white. They are both beautiful, though, so maybe consider the room it'll be displayed in (either now or in your ideal home)? The black and white would go well in a more formal room while the color would look nice in a casual space. Just my 2 cents! :)

After the Pirate show, we went to dinner at Animator's Palate. I was very excited for this, because AP is also on the Magic (the second DCL ship, which I went on 3 times as a teen with my extended family). It used to be my favorite, and I was eager to see it again.

We were taken back to our table (not sure if I mentioned this before-- we were never seated with strangers, which we were a bit worried about beforehand. We're friendly folks, but small talk isn't exactly romantic, you know?)

IMG_6984.jpg

The restaurant looked a bit different than I remembered, but I liked it. It felt very early-90's Disney to me, which I love. That is how Disney felt to me as a small child, and I'm always looking for ways to recapture that feeling. Very bright and traditional and Eisner-y.

Wish I could get those centerpieces for our house!

Several walls around the restaurant were basically large computer screens that showed sketches of Finding Nemo characters

This wall was right next to our table

I don't think it is a waste to get a black and white canvas. I have romantic black and white photos/prints all over my bedroom (they are art prints not photos of anyone I know lol).

It also depends on where you want to put the canvas and the colors that are in that room. If it is a family room maybe the color canvas would be more appropriate, so take that into consideration before ordering ;).

If it were me I would get the black and white. It is definitely more elegant than a regular photo and I think that makes it more special.

We skimmed the menu

IMG_6979.jpg

Placed our orders and just enjoyed the ambiance a bit

The Head Server (kind of like the restaurant manager) came by to ask about our day and if we were enjoying our honeymoon. He said a honeymoon deserves a candlelit dinner, so he made this for us...

IMG_6994.jpg

How precious!! He was such a sweet man

We seem to have missed out on entree pictures this night, and as a result I can't remember what we had.

As we were finishing our entrees, the lights in the room changed

IMG_6992.jpg

Giving the impression that we were underwater

Then the screens changed

And Crush started "swimming" around, talking to everyone! I imagine this is like the Turle Talk with Crush show (which I've never seen). It was pretty neat, how distinctly he could hear you and how obvious it was that he was responding to you personally (no pre-set audio clips).

After Crush left, our desserts were served!

Mine was a pineapple sponge cake

IMG_6997.jpg

Brandon's was a chocolate crust cheesecake

Dessert was by far the best at the standard ship restaurants. Ours were delicious!

Oops, I fell a little behind! Sorry!

-Ack! I can’t believe you almost ran into the cake! Did you giggle afterwards?
-Oh, poor Brandon’s sunburn. Poor thing.
-Grrr I hate spot takers. You should have kicked her.
-That pirate show looks adorable. Did you let some ARRRRs loose?
-And, as for the canvas: I am partial to the black and white too. I don’t think it would be silly at all to get it in black and white. It’s just lovely.
-You’re right: the Animator’s Palette is very 90s Disney. It reminds me a lot of the old Mickey shampoos from the hotels. Do you remember those??
-Awww! I love the “candlelight”
-If you want a good story about a honeymoon cruise, Tina Fey has a hilarious story in Bossypants about hers. I think you’d enjoy it.
-I gave up chocolate for Lent, and I’m almost salivating at Brandon’s cheesecake! Yum!

My opinion for a large canvas, I'd go with the black and white. Both of the photos are beautiful but I think I'd go black and white. Like you said, its timeless and elegant :goodvibes.

The new AP on the Dream/Fantasy is a lot more redesigned. I love those centerpieces too!

I have to agree with everyone with going with the black and white for the canvas. I think both are very pretty but I love black and white photos.

AP looks very yummy!

One of my favorite pictures from our wedding is B&W and I have it in color also. There is just something about a picture in B&W though. I vote for the B&W.

Yay more updates! I was starting to have withdrawal :goodvibes
For the prints, I'd probably go with the b&w- once that picture is blown up, it's big. lol I myself would likely find something crazy about myself in the color and I think you're right the b&w is very timeless. It will also go in any room/any colors you'd want it to for the future. I do really like that picture of you two!

Your desserts look sooo good, but I am a sweets lover! The little candle out of a napkin is too cute!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it! Definitely leaning toward B&W now! :goodvibes

Ahaha, I should have kicked her! I really would love to see someone kick a pushy latecomer just once. And we probably did give a few ARRs. Whenever Disney asks for audience participation, I do it loudly. I know some people are embarrassed, but I don't want to be that person at Disney that's so "I'm too cool for this". Of course I remember the shampoo bottles!! I used to stockpile those. I would put them in my little kiddie suitcase so that housekeeping would restock them everyday, then I'd take those too. I still love to bring Mickey soaps home with us. Any time I can get a little Disney dose on a normal day, I take it! I really should read Bossypants, I love Tina Fey.

I know, I felt like I hadn't updated in a while. We officially moved into our new house last Tuesday, and it's been a super busy week! I feel exhausted from all the unpacking. I am having a lot of fun using all our wedding gifts though... I'm cooking up a storm! Anyway, more updates to come soon!

Eek, I've been slacking!

As far as the pictures go.. I definitely think that the black and white is your best choice. I understand and see what you're seeing about the color and such. However, I feel like the black and white is more modern and artsy and very very very gorgeous. I think it would be stunning as a canvas, but so would the color? Such a toughie.

Animator's Palette looks amazing. I kinda wish I could go there. I love the chairs and it is very retro 90's Disney, which I love for the same reasons as you. =] It sounds great and that candle thing is adorable!

I cannot wait to read more and I cannot wait to finally go on a DCL myself. =[ One day! But for now I'm living through you!

I loved those chairs too! I was in Target yesterday and saw these really cute Mickey & Minnie dishes, and they had Mickey lamps. I really wanted some, but I resisted, because we don't need them and we're trying to save money. I just love all that retro Disney stuff. I wish Disney still made adult bedding, I remember looking at comforters and things in the Disney catalogue when I was younger.

I vote for B&W...its timeless and yours is so gorgeous!

I think that picture is beautiful! :cutie: For a large canvas, I would go with the black & white version.

So noted! I'm going to call DFAP tomorrow to see what pricing is like for the canvases... Thanks!

I almost forgot, a cruise photographer came by during dinner and took our picture. I think they did that every night, but we especially liked this one, so we bought it at the end of our trip. I took a picture of the picture on my phone, so it's super washed out, but you can see how cute the Pirate night frame is.

IMG-20120214-00013.jpg

And a little better view of our faces

IMG-20120214-00016.jpg

After dinner, we headed back to the top deck to watch the fireworks-- they're launched right off the ship! It's amazing! After we went down to the adults section of the ship-- The District-- to grab some drinks and enjoy karaoke night. We were way too shy to sing, but I think it's still fun to watch others. The karaoke night would be so fun with a group of friends.

In some hallway, we came across all these princess sketches, so I had to have my picture with my girl

IMG_7002.jpg

And after a bit more wandering, we decided to turn in for the night. Back in our stateroom, look what was waiting for us!

IMG_7007.jpg

It was like out of a dream!

Ok, a couple of comments:

I like the B&W picture personally, but I say pick whichever suits the room you're displaying it in best.

I loved your account of Animator's Palette. If I ever manage to make it on DCL, it's the restaurant I'd be most excited about.

Your pirate picture is sily and fun. Beautimous.

Finally, OMG MAGIC ROSE PETALS! How crazy!

I vote black and white, I feel like it really fits the look of the picture. The restaurant is so fun and pretty! It looks like Disney cruises really cater to honeymooners :goodvibes
