I don't know where to post this but I just have to get this off my chest. Yesterday I witnessed 2 horrible examples of what not to do when taking children to theme parks and I'm not sure which is worse. At HS we were in line for rnrc. I child that was tall enough (maybe 9) was hysterical and not wanting to ride. He was begging his mom pleading and pulling in her shirt . When our car arrived he went through it to the other side when a cast member shooed him back in. This is when mom pulled him in and down and locked the harness. After he was hysterical. There were. 5 adults with that party. Everyone was teasing him. Broke my heart. I wished the cast members could refuse to let people ride.
The second was later in the evening at epcot. I saw a girl, maybe 2, all alone pulling on an umbrella stroller screaming for her mom obviously lost. I stopped and looked out for mom and a cast member. Another family stopped with me. That poor girl was screaming for her mom. A few minutes later mom popped out from behind a trash can. She was recording the whole incident on her phone. She told her older child it's going on youtube .

Wow... I agree CMs should refuse to allow anyone that upset to ride. I guess on RNRC there is no way to really get out of the harness but I can just think if scared on other rides the disaster that could happen when someone panics.

Just having someone be nervous and still pushing them to ride I can see. I was a chaperone for younger kids from my church on a field trip once (I was probably 13 and going into freshman year of high school at the time) and I took all the kids on a log ride. I remember them all wanting to ride but being a little nervous. Half of them claiming to absolutely HATE me as the boat got to the top and then wanting to ride again when we got out.

However at no point were any of them crying.

Ugh, horrible, just horrible.

Three of my children have never been on roller coasters, so our upcoming trip will be their first experience. I hope they enjoy them, but I will never force them to ride if they don't want to, and certainly won't make fun. That's downright mean. :sad2:

How can a mother laugh at her child for crying when she thought she was lost? That poor sweetie must have been panicked, then to been laughed at instead of comforted? :sad1:

Ugh. Both stories make me sad, especially the second one - that poor little girl! :sad2:

Some people just need a good beating. The parents in both of the above sound like they qualify.

There was a good 20 minutes I heard the boy in line screaming. There was more that enough time to get him out of there and more than enough adults in their party to help out.

That is so sad! This is why if you know your kids don't want to ride a ride, don't even attempt it. There were 5 adults, hello riders swap!

That is so upsetting!!! What is wrong with people!!! I swear some people should go through physiological testing before being allowed to reproduce! That poor kid is going to be traumatized and never want to ride roller coasters again. And video taping a 2 year old that's hysterical bc they don't know where their mom is is even worse! Who does that!

In my book, both of those instances are child abuse clear and simple! But, yet, authorities have 'no' issues with these type people that claim the title of parents. Let some loving parent swat a misbehaving child's bottom and you have every person around wanting to call police. What a world! :confused3

Poor little girl in the second story! She was only 2, youtube videos mean nothing to her. What a awful thing to do to a toddler.

After rnrc the boy was punching his mom in the arm repeatedly while she's yelling at him to stop. I was thinking "go for it kid". The whole party was laughing at him.... Made me sick.
Oh and btw that little girl was being followed by an older man that the family and I were looking to see if she was with him. Nope as soon as mom jumped out behind the garbage can the man took off in a hurry.

My mom did that to me when I was about 13 at SW. She wanted me to ride this family flume ride, so she could get the pic of us all together. She didn't believe that I was absolutely terrified of riding and thought I was just being a difficult teenager. However, she at least felt horrible when I had a complete panic attack on it and couldn't stop crying for a good 15 minutes afterwards. Her pic didn't turn out as desired either what with me crying hysterically and all. I think she stills feels guilty about it to this day.

Both cases are absolutely horrid behavior!! I can understand if a child is a little nervous or reluctant to try a new ride, but there has to be a point where you give in and say it's okay, we won't do it. This seems like a form a child abuse, don't you think??

I can imagine it is very difficult for the CMs when they notice these things, because what can they do? :(

I agree on tot earlier in the day a dad looked at a scared son and asked "are you sure?" The child whimpered a yes and had a blast. Much different

Wow, in cases like this I wish the CM's had the power to do something. That poor kid. I remember standing in line for a ferriswheel type ride as a kid, and I chickened out just before we were at the front of the line. My grandma took me out of the line, all it took me was to say I didn't want to go and we went to get icecream instead while my mom and sister rode the ride(to this day I refuse to ride ferriswheels and similar rides).

In the other case, my heart breaks for that poor child. That's just so mean to upset a child like that to use for your own personal entertainment. I hope that family and friends who watched that video called her out on that behavior.

My guess is the older man was probably security. They are everywhere.
