On the main weekly thread, it was suggested that in addition to our shirts that hats may help us stand out.

I personally always run in a hat and did Goofy this year wearing my Ironman Wisconsin finisher's hat made by Headsweats. Three triathlons that I did last year provided Headsweats hats- FL 70.3 at WDW, Timberman 70.3 in NH, and IM WI. It was funny because I had been looking at the hats in the merchandise section at FL 70.3 but had held off buying and lo and behold I was handed one at the finish line along w/ the finsher's shirt, the medal, and a backpack type baggie.

Since I have personal experience w/ that particular brand, I went to their website www.headsweats.com and discovered that they do have a custom program w/ a minimum order of 36 hats. The design can be either heat screened or embroidered(all the ones I own) and we could get quotes on a couple different styles if there is interest.

Please post if you have interest and I will follow up as needed. Thanks.
Lynne

I might be interested. I usually wear a sweatband as I "glow" (ok, sweat) a lot. Do these hats help in that regard?

I'm interested. are the hats secured by a bungie cord? I can't find details on their site.

Depends on the style, there is at least one that does secure w/ the bungie style. However, I prefer the velcro baseball cap style closure as the bungie won't go small enough for my head. It is very easy to get quotes on up to three styles so I figured the Supervisor and at least one if not two hat styles.

Sweat bands versus running hat/visors. The hats/visors have a sweat band built in plus will wick sweat away from your head. In addition, the light colored hats will reflect light back off so it actually becomes cooler to wear one than not in the hot weather. Plus when it gets really nasty like the 95 degree temps on of FL 70.3 last May, they nicely hold the icecubes to your head. I wear them down to about 35 degrees when I switch to a stocking cap that covers my ears so in case the weather more closely resembles 2006 than 2007, we'll be set too.

I'd be interested in 1 or 2 depending on what the final prices comes out to be.

Thanks Lynne for looking into this!

Same here either 1 or 2 depending on the final price. But 1 for sure.

Thank you Lynne for doing this.

I would be interested in a hat or visor. I wore a visor this year at the 1/2 and really liked it, I didn't even need sunglasses.

Yes... Me!! ME!!! I am soooo not going to be without green next year! LOL!!

I always wear a hat also... and a WISH hat would be wonderful!

Great idea!

Kathy

I would LOVE a hat! Count me in for two (one for me and one for my training buddy dianel)

I am definitely in for 1, maybe 2 if Howard is interested. Thanks, Lynne!

Lynn - what about buffs? I like those too (although I just end up using them as sweat rags if it gets hot) You can check them out at buffusa.com. They are very useful!!!

Great timing. I need to try the hat thing! Please count me in!

What a great idea, Lynne!!! I love running in hats and I would be very interested in getting an official Wish hat. Keep us posted!
