I've been at my apartment for 8 years. I think I've stayed so long because I felt lucky to have it. (when I rented, I had bad, bad credit) I pay a lot of money, and I always knew that I could be getting a lot more for what I pay, but I just put it in the back of my mind.
Then this past summer, she rented to a younger frat-boy type. It has been months of loud bass (music) 'til all hours of the morning. Usually he starts about midnight and goes to about 4 am. This is during the week when I wake up at 6 am for work!! I've pounded, talked to him, told my landlord...nothing has changed. So that's the straw that broke the camel's back.
Basically, when I called her today, she tried to blame me because he's younger and I should understand!!! Whatever, she's letting me out of my lease with a good reference.
I'm nervous because while my credit is super better, it's still not perfect. But the apartment place I'm going to seems to be confident factoring in my paycheck, references, low debt, and good downpayment.
Ugh, this is a huuuge thing for me!!
