WISH Away the Pounds June Challenge -- Starting a Successful Summer!

Last Day of June!!!

I hope everyone has a fabulous last weigh in!! I actually forgot to step on the scale, will do so tomorrow morning as that will be the July start day anyway...

So, send me your final results today or tomorrow so that I can do a last update - hopefully with many people reaching 100%!!

I will also put up the July thread later today. I decided a new thread is always great to start over for the next month and it is actually not too much work to just copy and paste it over!

Thank you very much to Jill for coaching the last few days!!

I still owe an answer to the last few QOTDs - even though I really had good ideas!! So here they are:

active vacation: Go for a hiking holiday, preferrably along the coast of Cornwall, England

favourite non Disney amusement park: Tivoli in Copenhagen - it actually was one of the inspirations for Walt Disney when he built Disneyland. It has a great 100 year old roller coaster that is built like a mountain train (think Matterhorn...).

Well, this coach has no internet :( But, don't you worry...Verizon's technician will be at my house tomorrow between 1-5 :)

I had to run out so I stopped at Panera to borrow some of their internet for a few minutes :) I'm going to post the QOTD for tomorrow now and try to check in with my phone tonight and tomorrow morning, but be patient! It's hard to reply on my tiny iPhone :)

QOTD Monday, June 30: What are you most proud of about this June challenge?

Jill

Bummer about the internet, Jill! I'm so impressed by people who can post from their phones -- reading is the best I can do and with the Dis sometimes that is even hard. :rotfl2:

I am most proud of hitting my 10% WW goal this month. It's been a long time coming but I never gave up. :goodvibes And for hitting my WATP goal this month. Watch out July! :cheer2:

Magdalene, I love your vacation answers -- they always sound so exotic! :cool2: It would be wonderful to go to Tivoli in Copenhagen some day. I remember that story about Walt Disney now that you mention it. pixiedust:

Thank you so much for hostessing this months challenge and July, too, Magdalene! :thanks:

Good luck to everyone on their final weigh in! Lurkers come out of lurkdom and tell us how you did. ;)

Hey, everyone!

I did it! Made my goal for the first time in months! I'm so psyched. Now I want to keep the momentum going for the next couple of weeks before we leave on vacation, so July challenge, here I come! It'll be a teeny goal, to be sure, but hopefully manageable...

Magdalene, thanks so much for hosting us again in July! I apologize in advance for not checking in as much after the first couple of weeks. Although you never know - a check-in while we're away might be a helpful thing, too...

The 5K Saturday morning was great! I wanted to push myself, and I definitely went out too fast, but I still felt good at the end. I finished in 28:10, 8th in my age group. The swag was nice - good technical race shirt, a full-sized water bottle with hand wrap and pouch, and a pair of running socks with the race logo. Good stuff! Then, yesterday, both DDs ran a local Mighty Mile. I was so proud of them!

On to July...

Fell very far off plan this weekend, but finished the month down (barely). I am going to call it a success and move on to July. At this point I will take a pound a month. Anything is better than continuing to go up. :) My weigh in isn't until Friday, so hoping it won't be as bad as it looks this morning.

Are we having a July thread?

WOOHOO!!! Great job Liz!!

We will have a July thread!

Will be posted later today!

See you there!!!!! :dance3:

Hey Howdy Hey my friends! How are you all? Sorry I haven't been around to chat! Trying to keep busy here this summer and not spend too much time sitting on my behind in front of the computer!! But you all have been missed! I'm doing well here. I'll take a second to catch up and read and reply before I dash off to other things here! BB in a second with replies!................P

There was a thread here on the WISH forums within the last couple days about someone who is doing juicing. They are following a book with recipes. Did you see that thread? I wonder if they have some recipes that are more filling so you aren't as hungry. It's definitely NO FUN being hungry!

I did see your retraction and saying that the thread was about smoothies, but I wanted to comment anyhow. I have a book that I follow to some extent and she (the author) is very educated and all, but I am just hungry constantly when I juice... no matter HOW MUCH JUICE I drink! I've tried adding more fruit juices, thinking that the sugars would help.... I've tried adding LESS fruit juices, thinking that maybe it was a case of a rollercoaster blood sugar.... but I am just very hungry when I juice. Sometimes I can grin and bear it, but some times I cannot. That being said, I think that there can be plenty of health benefits to a short-term juice fast..... but obviously I need to work harder on preparing my body before diving in.

Ahhhh yes, the "we rearranged the room and now need to go through everything" time :rotfl2: I love when we find stuff we forgot all about. Does your DS have that problem?

Not really stuff he forgot about.... just stuff he doesn't even want/need. Sadly, one BIG bin got shoved out the way (into sister's room, since she isn't here this summer) and it STILL isn't sorted. I may push to have him do it with me tonight. His room is small and it was mostly disorganized clothes (can you say "never puts away his clean laundry"!!) and school books/papers (which can now be returned/trashed since the school year is over). His new desk and new setup/layout actually gives him a bit more floor space in some ways, but doesn't allow him access to two of his underbed drawers, so I will be putting a small drawer unit in his closet for the overflow (really just shorts and swimsuits).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is anyone following Team USA in the World Cup? I am totally addicted! I'm so excited that they are moving on!
Went for my first run today since February when I got the flu. I felt so good that I could have kept going. I'm going to follow a Jeff Galloway plan for October's race. It's the Rock N Roll Cleveland race. Has anyone ever done a Rock N Roll 1/2?
Congrats on getting back to it!
Last week DH, DS8, and I went to some garage sales. DH and I found mountain bikes at one sale and we bought both of them :) So, tomorrow my mom is going to watch DSs so DH and I can go for a ride. We are going on a bike trail since I haven't ridden a bike in about 20 years!!
FUN!
I am off to do a load of laundry since DS needs his camp shirt for tomorrow's closing program and I am 100% sure it's not clean :rotfl2: Have a great evening!
Jill
Laundry never stops, does it??!:rotfl2:
Lost another 3.2 lbs this week which brings my total to 8.2!!!! So happy with that. Can't wait to jump on board next months thread. Definitely don't think I would have stuck with it if I didn't have the support here.
Great job!!!!
Good Friday morning :woohoo:
QOTD: If you could take a 'fitness' vacation (money no object), where would you go and why?
Jill
Don't know where exactly I would go.... but it would need to include food/cooking. I would love to learn new healthy recipes and cooking methods and have some one ELSE do the cooking for a change!! And I'd love it to have FUN group exercise.... yoga, long walks/runs, hikes.
Down just a bit - 0.4 - but after last week's big drop, I'll say fair play to the scale on that one. So close to goal - hopefully this weekend will put me over the top!
I got out for a 3.25 mile run this morning - better than Wednesday's! DH got up to run before me, so I definitely felt like I had to get up and go when he got back. Work today, then a busy evening - picking up my race packet for tomorrow's 5K (tons of great swag in this one!), and then dinner out before the kids' swim lessons. Might try to sneak in some Orange is the New Black before I call it a night and get some good sleep before the race in the morning.
Happy Friday, everyone!
XO
Sounds like summer is going well for you so far!!
Hi! Just coming out of lurkdom to give a plug for the exercise challenge. Some people haven't reported in a while and I know they're here. Please pop over and update so I can change your color! :rainbow:
I think I'll join you guys in July. It's been a while and with summer here I might even post! :rotfl2: I am down, but am afraid to step on the scale tomorrow because it's been a bad, bad week! Afraid I may have ruined all my hard work, but I remember the dis motto and will never give up!
So glad you came back on to remind folks to get their minutes posted on the exercise thread and glad you are here to join us again!!!!!!
I only got very few weigh ins yesterday - I guess everyone is holding out until Monday for the final one!
But I just updated my list and am going to put it into the first post now.
Very pleased with my own result, I am down more than a pound from last week. I tried to be good this past week, but with work being very stressful, I did not do too well. I guess those two days of walking 100 minutes (including lunch break walking) really helped. But I am finally starting to feel somehow comfortable in my clothes again. Directly after the vacation I really had trouble with that!
Glad the clothing is comfortable again! It is always a good indicator to me that I need to make some positive changes if my favorite jeans are snug!
I also browsed the WW shop website yesterday and I realised that here in Germany they now offer the fitbit and say it will work with my WW online. Ever since Lisa raved about her device that tells her how much activity points she earns, I wanted to get something like that. The great thing is that this is a real fitbit that will continue to work even if I stop doing WW. But it gives me activity points, not just calories or whatever, so it goes well with my current plan. And WW was selling it 10 € cheaper than the other prices I had seen. So I ordered it and can't wait for it to arrive to motivate me even more to move around more!
WOOHOO on finding something to work for you and with your WW plan!!
I have not heard from Amanda and since no one jumped up on here to say that they want to host the next month, I am considering to do the same as last year and just continue on with hosting for July and just expand the current thread to be a two months thread. The updating of the weights is really not a lot of work. What do you all think?
I would be EVER SO GRATEFUL if you hosted in July!! I will DEFINITELY step up and grab a coaching stint! THANK YOU
I managed to lose 2 pounds so made my goal for the month. :yay: I'm very happy because this is the first time in quite awhile I made the goal. Onward and downward. :cool1:
SO PROUD of you my friend!! You are my inspiration, as always!!
Ahhhhhhhhh!!! I never did make it back here yesterday :( And, I'm out the door for a bike ride with DH while DSs are at the in-laws. So, I'll be back later on :)
Hope it was fun!
QOTD for the weekend of Saturday June 28th and Sunday June 29th:
Other than a Disney park, what is your favorite amusement park and why? Do you have a favorite ride other than a Disney ride?
Well.... I was bound and determined that I would NEVER give Universal Studios a penny of my money..... until they opened the WWOHP. That was really tempting.... but I still didn't go. But when DS and I had a chance to go FOR FREE during a private event last Fall, I couldn't pass it up.... and I LOVED IT!!! We only had a few hours so we really stuck with WWOHP and didn't see any other parts of US (other than what we walked through) and I still don't have any real interest in the other areas.... but I would LOOOOOOVE to go back for the opening of Diagon Alley this summer! I definitely see a FULL DAY visit to WWOHP and DA in my future!! The design/architecture is fabulous..... it truly feels like you fell into a HP novel!! Disney really missed out when they didn't grab the rights to that series when they had a chance.
Favorite ride there???? I really loved the dual coasters (Dragon Challenge??). Rode them in the dark and didn't always see what was coming....gave it an extra feeling of excitement!
QOTD fitness vacation: I think I would like to go somewhere tropical to learn to paddleboard and possibly surf. I'm not sure I have the balance for it, But I sure would like to try.
OOOhhhh... that definitely sounds like fun!! Can I join you??
QOTD amusement parks: I actually haven't been to an amusement park in a LONG time. Every year we talk about going to Kennywood (Pittsburgh) or Cedar Point (Ohio) and never end up going. So, I don't have a favorite park or ride but I am hoping to get somewhere this summer.
It is hot here and after biking for awhile we went to the in-laws for a cookout/pool party. We left early because DH works tonight and wanted to sleep before his 12 hour shift. I am happy to be inside in air conditioning! I am just going to relax the rest of the day and get myself organized for grocery shopping tomorrow. I am also going to try to get my mind organized for some better eating!
I'll try to check back later, but if not, I'll definitely be in tomorrow to see what's going on.
Jill
Sounds like a fun busy weekend.
Well, this coach has no internet :( But, don't you worry...Verizon's technician will be at my house tomorrow between 1-5 :)
Whoops! So sorry!
No worries!!
QOTD Monday, June 30: What are you most proud of about this June challenge?
Jill
While I did NOT hit my ultimate goal for the month, I am most proud that I FINALLY kicked my holiday/late winter weight gain to the curb and am trending downward.
Last Day of June!!!
