Welcome to WISH Away the Pounds June Challenge -- Starting a Successful Summer!

Please read the complete instructions in post 2, and then let me know if you have any questions.
The philosophy behind our new challenge: small achievable goals. One month at a time, one week at a time, one day at a time, one bite at a time. Results will be posted as a % lost (pounds) towards monthly goal.

Thanks to Rose&Mike for creating our new challenge format which was a great success in 2013 and to all the previous hosts who have kept it going! :thanks:

How the challenge works:
This is the new and improved challenge that replaces the BL challenges. Like the show has evolved, so have our challenges and this format takes the best of that long standing tradition and makes it even better! ::yes::

The goal of the new challenge is to meet your weight loss/maintain goals on a monthly basis. Results will be posted as percentages toward goal and your color will change as you approach your goal, similar to the exercise thread on the WISH boards. We hope that this new format will encourage some great discussions about weight loss, maintaining, diet, exercise and healthy living!

It is up to the hostess each month as to whether she wants to have coaches/Question of the day, mini-challenges, etc. It is her month, so she can choose to handle it how she wants.

Heres how the new challenge will work. It is going to be a monthly individual challenge. Each month is a new start. You are competing against yourself to meet your goals for the month. No one will know your actual weight (unless you share it) except the hostess for the month. NO GOAL IS TOO SMALL.

Let me repeat: NO GOAL IS TOO SMALL. A loss is a loss is a loss. Your color will change based on your % lost toward goal.

On June 1st you will pm Flossbolna (hostess for June) your starting weight AND your goal for the month. On all Fridays of the month you can pm Flossbolna an updated weight. Final weigh in is June 0st. On Monday nights the thread will be updated with percentage toward goal.

Here is an example of what the stats will look like.

Updated January 10, 2014
Minnie Mouse 25.00%
Daisy Duck 12.00%
Goofy 0.00 %
Donald Duck 33.33%
Mickey Mouse 40.00%

Weight Loss Goals:
10%, orange
25% bright pink
50% purple
75% turquoise
90% red--ALMOST THERE!
100%WISH green

In this case Goofy, put on a few pounds, but that will be reported as 0%. We are not going to call people out, but just report positive moves towards your goal!

Minnie Mouse had a starting weight of 110 with a goal of 4 pounds. At her weigh in she reported a weight of 109 with a percentage loss of 25%.

Your color will change based on your % loss. If you gain, your percentage will decrease, and your color will change, but no one will know your weight except the hostess. Only your % loss toward goal will be reported. Negative percentages will not be reported.

Participants (other than the hostess) will not know your pound lost goal or actual weight unless you choose to share it with them.

Maintainers will set a goal for the month of number of weeks they would like to stay in maintain range (+/- 4 pounds).
They will weigh in on the first day of the month and then on each of the weekends. Their results will be reported as percentages along with their goal.

For example:
Pluto 1/4 25%.

Pluto has a goal of maintaining all four weeks. He put on 1 pound at the first weigh in, but is in his maintain range.

Maintainer Goals
25% bright pink
50% purple
75% turquoise
100%WISH green

It really is pretty simple. Remember, no one will see your weight or pound loss goal except the hostess unless you choose to share it.

Percentage loss will be updated once a week. If you miss sending in your weight over the weekend, no big deal, just send an update the following weekend. Please understand that this is a volunteer job and the hostess will only be updating once a week.

Good luck! I look forward to seeing everyone meet their healthy living goals!

We will have coaches for this challenge. Coaches post the Question of the Day (QOTD), do replies, and generally keep our conversation moving. Coaching is a lot of fun and coaches often enjoy what we call "the coaching effect" and have a great loss the weeks that they coach. It is a lot of fun!
The coaching time has been shortened to five days to give us a little more variety and make it easier on our coaches who do so much for us.

Future challenges

We've had a great year in 2013 with our new WATP challenge format. :goodvibes We launched a new challenge format, had lots of lovely hostesses helping us along the way, and even had hostesses from Europe all summer which is a first for any WISH challenge that I know of. :cool2:

But these challenges don't run themselves -- it takes a lot of effort from everyone especially our hostesses. :flower3: One of the reasons we switched to the monthly format was to avoid hostess burnout. We need hostesses for future challenges. Any volunteers? :hmghost:

Future challenge hosts:
July 2014 ares2102(Amanda)
August 2014
September 2014
October 2014 lisah0711 (Lisa)
November 2014
December 2014
January 2015
Februar 2015

These challenges are "run" by volunteers and it takes everyone participating to make a successful challenge.

Thanks to all who have volunteered to coach and host! :thanks:

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and a happy and shrinking June to all of you!! I hope this will be a place to continue for old friends but also a place of warm welcome to any newbies!!

I will be your hostess for the month and also your coach for the first five days. Hopefully this will help me to transit from vacation mode to full serious weight loss mode!!

I would like to use this opportunity to call for coaches for the second half of the month!! Even if you are new to this, it really is not difficult at all!!

And let's start with a Question of the Day:

A new month and a new season: What are your goals for the month (no need to give an actual number, but feel free to do so if you want)? Are you planning on making best use of all the good things summer has to offer to help with weight loss (like lots of fruit and vegetables being in season) or are you giving yourself a bit more slack because of having to deal with heat and summer treats like ice cream?

For me this will be a month when I will try to reach as much as possible. I just need to get rid of those vacations pounds as quickly as possible! Also, for me summer usually is a good time of year to lose weight as I tend to be more active when it is light outside in the evenings. However, I have come up with a new workout routine - at least for the moment. Before my vacation I got so frustrated with not losing any weight despite working so hard with Jillian Michaels' Body Revolution that I decided to not continue with that for now (I had planned to start over), but instead focus on running again as these are the months when the climate here is best for running! I am thinking of adding a few workouts of her program just to work on strength as well, but not the 6 day a week schedule I was following before.

Oooo, I do love a brand, new shiny thread and challenge!

Thank you, Magdalene, for hosting our challenge this month! :flower3:

Coaching is a lot of fun and only a 5 day commitment -- be brave and give it a try! :cool2:

My plan for June is to actually hit my goal! :rotfl: I've been kind of stuck since February and I'm tired of treading water. :upsidedow I'm taking advantage of the season by enjoying the long days, working out outside, and eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I'm being very vigilant about my food and make judicious use of my weekly WW points for beer. :drinking1 My 10k training will start later in June. I do need to add strength training and that means a trip to the gym a couple of times a week -- which is hard to do since it is so dang nice outside. :beach:

:welcome: to all our new and returning participants! :cool2:

I am looking to reenergize myself. I have participated in challenges like dietbet and though MyFitnessPal (MFP), and had a fitbit force that was keeping me accountable. Since my tracker was recalled (and yes I did get a rash from it) I have been super lazy and eating my way up over 5 pounds from where I had been. I want to lose 5 pounds each month, and my steps are to stop the ice cream and snacking. I am going to stock my fridge with veggies and healthy snacks on my upcoming payday! And I want to play in the pool with my boys as much as possible!

My goals are to stick with the plan I am on and not quit. I am great for quiting because it can be a tough plan, but I know it works, so I have to stick with it. I also want to keep up with drinking my water (which I hate) and try and take my kiddos to the pool and soak up some sun.

I hope everyone is waking up this Sunday morning with a ton of willpower. I need to get to some stores and do some shopping, but my house is right where the Ironman race goes by. All the bikers keep us pretty much locked in our neighborhood until 1 or so. I know its an awesome race, but its annoying to not be able to leave our subdivision.

I'm in for June! :cool1: Its great to see so many new and returning participants!

This has been a rough spring with several deaths in our family and I've been in physical therapy for the last 2 months for a partially torn rotator cuff (my first PT and its not running related, go figure!). There's still a lot of things I can't do, but I need to focus on what I can do and work hard at both my PT and cardio. I'd love to lose 10 pounds in the next three months to get me ready for the Dumbo challenge at DL. That will take some serious work since I don't lose weight easily. I'm going to take advantage of being home this month and focus on exercise and weight loss.

My goal for this month is to create a healthier schedule for myself and to stick with it. Also, no more 9 PM ice cream sandwiches!

"The new thread is here, the new thread is here!!!":yay:

I'm here to reserve my spot for JUNE!! Busy with lots of cleaning and laundry today, but I will be back later to chat it up!...................P

Well, I have had a goal (for a few months now) to be at the very BOTTOM of my (personal) maintenance range by the middle of the month. But menopause and life has kicked me thoroughly in the butt and there is NO WAY I am making that goal now without a small miracle. So while I am still TRYING to get there, I have mentally readjusted and decided I would be delighted to be just one pound UNDER my WW goal by 6/17. Even that will definitely require some work!

I will be making great use of every bit of fresh produce that Mother Nature can throw at me! The only thing I dislike about spring/summer cooking/eating is that it is harder to use the crockpot!

GREAT QOTD!...................P

I'm in! We leave for Aulani in 6 weeks, and I'd like to be back at maintenance levels by the end of June. WISH maintenance standards, not WW! ;) That gives me a little wiggle room, but it's still a fairly aggressive goal for June. Just gotta keep moving and making good choices...

Yay! I'm here :)

My goal is to drop a few pounds and get closer to where I was a few months ago. Summer should help me because I will be eating a lot of fresh produce. But, I am a sucker for "ice cream for dinner" every once in awhile. I'm hoping to be more active, also, since I'm not working and have a 1/2 at the end of June and another in October. I am planning to come up with a workout schedule since I am bad at cross-training. That's about it for now. I'm off to get ready for my last week of work for the 2013-2014 school year! :yay::yay::yay::yay: Can you tell I'm a little happy :lmao:

Morning all and happy Monday! Up and dressed and ready for work. Just wanted to say hello before I dashed off! Not sure about my computer access for the day.....................P

OK. Count me in. I have been slacking off for a while and the scales show it. No more excuses. I must get back on track.

Ate pretty good yesterday. Subway for lunch with baked chips. Can't say I cared too much for the chips and didn't even finish the bag but was kind of full with my 6 inch sub anyway.

Brought lots of fruits and veggies to work today to snack on if I get cravings. Skipped the coffee this morning and am having yogurt for breakfast.

Also got my best friend and her husband to join in on my challenge. Hoping to stay motivated

HI Ladies I am back in for June - sent my PM..

QotD Sunday : I am going to work hard being my healthiest no matter what us going on around me.. I have done alot of prep work for the next 11 weeks of summer dinner wise.. I do have a plan in place for myself for low carb bfast in that same timeframe.. Luches are little more lax only because it will depend on leftovers and how much salad I think I can eat in a week! (5 days of salad sometimes is just TOOO much for me) so there is always a can of tuna/chicken salad I can make for a few days worth of lunches or an atkins frozen dinner with cut veggies because that is different then salad and I could eat those everyday HAAA .. I also have 9 more weeks of Zumba on Tues and Thurs nights after work and I just got my Wii Zumba belt so I can use the DVD I got from an Online Yard sale.. hoping to work up to Zumba 5 days a week by June 15..

I called my Dr on Friday as I didn't not see any drops in my daily Blood Sugar when I was being very strict on Atkins at the beginning of May (which was discouraging so I fell back off off the wagon by mid month) and said that I am ok with going back on the Bydureon once a week shot because it appeared he was correct saying that the shot brought it down not the so much the diet.. However I've not heard from him so maybe we are just wating till my July 16 appt..

Thank goodness the Sun has finally returned !! This def. helps me stay on plan .. Take care and Happy Monday !! :wave2:

Meal plan for the day
Low Carb BB Muffins & Acitiva Light Van yogurt (4oz cup)
Chicken salad in romine leaves, cut veggies, SF Jello
Hamburger patty with a side Caesar Salad -

My goal for the month is just to get more active. No more making excuses not to MOVE.

You can do it! :thumbsup2

Bummer about the fitbit. I have a WW activity monitor that is made by Phillips. They also sell them separately. I like it because it is very accurate and you can wear it in the water. Pool time sounds like a great way to stay active! :beach:

My goals are to stick with the plan I am on and not quit. I am great for quiting because it can be a tough plan, but I know it works, so I have to stick with it. I also want to keep up with drinking my water (which I hate) and try and take my kiddos to the pool and soak up some sun.

Good job breaking up that big goal into smaller goals -- it's smart to set yourself up for success! ::yes:: You are very successful and have been for a long time -- don't forget to give yourself credit for that too. :hippie:
