WISH Away the Pounds -- Jolly June AND JULY Challenge -- Everyone Welcome!

Happy Thursday friends! I really do NOT have time to be on here, but I feel like a part of my day is missing if I don't pop on for at least a few minutes! I cut myself some slack yesterday around the house and will be paying for it today!!:headache:

My parents arrive tomorrow afternoon for DD's graduation and the house is in shambles!! I am behind on laundry, I have no menu planned or meals prepped for the weekend.... the dining room is full of party supplies for the graduation party in July, I haven't brought the freezer foods back up into the new freezer from the basement freezer, the kids's rooms are a DISASTER, there isn't a clean bathroom in the entire house, I am supposed to be at DD's school at 1:30 today for Senior Slideshow... plus she wants me to find an opening for a manicure this afternoon...and we were going to try to attend the Senior play tonight. I have just taken possession of a LARGE quantity of WW merchandise that has taken over a large corner of the home office and that meant moving a bunch of DH's junk out of the way (it is all sitting in his office chair waiting for him to return from Maine and sort through it). I am behind on submitting my time sheets, I am behind on my personal banking and bill paying, I haven't made anyone's bed in DAYS, and I have two loads of towels on the clothesline that are probably going to be rained on shortly!!

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!:eek: Oh well.... I'm taking a DEEP BREATH and prioritizing my list. The "A" list will get done today (hopefully). The "B" list will get done tomorrow morning.... and hopefully the "C" list can wait for now!!

The good news is that the weather for Saturday's graduation (outside under a big tent) looks wonderful. We have bought DD THREE dresses to choose from (two will go back) and she looks delightful in them all (although she would like new shoes.... but not sure when we will find time for that). I only have to worry about feeding/entertaining my family and my parents this weekend, so pressure is off. I have Father's Day gifts bought for DH and DDad.... they just need to be wrapped.

Off to get productive! BBL to check in with you all!.............P

I think at that point I would throw up my hands and tell my family, love me, love the mess! :rotfl2:

I LOVE your WW suggestions though! And starting with tonight's dinner, will do just that. I've been tracking since I got back and going over the points every darn day! :crazy2: Now that I've been sitting here all day with too tight pants, (which I'm NOT rationalizing with the good old bloated excuse :() I now have a visible reason to get my dupa in gear! :thumbsup2

Oh and BTW, loved, loved, LOVED your trip report! :love:

Oh we will all help you.. please go see your friend, I am sure if she is a good friend there will be NO judgements.. have a GREAT time in Key West!

I know she wouldn't judge me at all, it's just how I feel about myself at the moment. It's just an off day with the too tight pants, the knees that just refuse to cooperate with me on my runs, and the bad food choices all adding up. I'll be fine in a day or two I'm sure. AND I'm going to commit to checking the board every day instead of just M-F. I need the accountability now more than ever. ::yes::

Thanks everybody!!

PS: How the heck do I post pictures here?? I want to throw a few on from our Italy adventure.

Pam, I hope you have a fantastic graduation weekend!! What a wonderful occasion to celebrate!! And thank you so much for the advise you gave Kim, I sometimes need ways to find back into the programm as well!

Kim, sorry to hear that you are struggling so much!! I felt very similar after my vacation, I think a nice long vacation does that to you. But as the other said, coming back here is the first step and then you are at least journaling! That is still the first step to getting back into a healthy routine!! Oh - and I can very much recommend hosting a month of WISH Away the Pounds - and as it happens we still need a hostess for July!!! :goodvibes

Buffy, I am so impressed with your goal of running a half marathon!! I hope you will be able to proudly wear that medal around your neck next year!!!

And a friendly reminder to everyone:

Tomorrow is Weigh In day!! I hope all of us will see a number on the scale that we like!

Please send your result to me - just as last week, it is easier for me if you put the date and the weight directly in the subject line of your PM! I will try to update every day during the weekend!

Help! I am starving. I want to eat everything in the kitchen. I need a yummy low-carb snack idea. Anyone?
Why am I always so starving an hour after dinner?

Alysa, I find that a stick of celery filled with light philadelphia cheese usally hits the spot.

So, been weighed this morning.....no loss so far in June, but I have managed to lose ALL of the 5.5lb I put on last week at the conference, so that's good.

I've accepted a challenged from my slimming class this week - we have to eat 10 'speed' foods each day as part of meals, not as snacks. (Speed foods are foods that have a low calorific content for their bulk - this includes a lot of fruit and veg, but also stuff like chicken, turkey and most white fish). Got to write up my menu for the coming week, then get out and do some shopping as it's my day off today.

Not sure if it's still my turn for QOTD, so apologies if I'm gate crashing, but I saw this on another site and thought it might suit us...........

QOTD Friday 14th June 2013

4) Cold Drink (non alcoholic)
5) Alcoholic Drink
6) Meat
7) Either Pasta, Rice or Noodles?
8) Cheese

7) Either Pasta, Rice or Noodles? - Rice
8) Cheese - Brie

Gosh, that sounds like a perfect dinner combination! Hmm.... :thumbsup2

Had a great weigh-in... been very good about walking or doing zumba depending on the weather. My Fitness Pal has been great for reigning in the calories. One tiny problem here on out... I've decided to get the Depo shot for birth control for the next three months for a few reasons - timing of vacations and beau being back in town from overseas being the top two! Anyway, it's always been a great method for everything but WEIGHT GAIN! Ugh... I hope my current healthy accountability at the very least keeps the scale from moving in the wrong direction over the summer.

Gotta keep active, that's my motto this summer. No lounging around the house with Kindle in hand!

Have a great weekend folks - this is always my worst cheat time, but keeping the cupboards down to bare essentials is helping this weekend. Good luck with your weigh ins guys!

Thanks for the encouragement! In order to keep my sanity, I decided to just forego stepping on the scale this morning. Little victories first - I started with sticking to a sensible 6 point dinner and few M&M's for dessert. I was pretty happy with my efforts, even if it was only for one meal. Now on to attacking one meal at a time this weekend.

Quick post before I take the kids to school.

I am starving!! And a little nauseous. I need to not pig out today, but I have had a deficit for the last 2 days so I need maybe eat a little more today? Yes? No?

I know it's like the next day so this isn't terribly helpful but your body does definately want you to give it some more fuel. If you have your MFP set to lose, then it will tell you the calories that you need to consume to lose -- in other words you don't have to go below what MFP is telling you to eat to lose. You think it would help you to lose faster but with that increase in activity it might be enough to push your body into holding calories. Just a thought. :flower3:

Hi everybody! I now I've been super MIA as I'm STILL trying to catch up at work. Honestly, what did these guys do before I was here??? :confused3

Having a horrendous week, bloated, pants fitting tight, and just overall feeling like a beached whale. Haven't had any time to check in and I truly believe it's affecting my eating - no accountability, so I'll eat anything. You know, that ugly, slippery slope of one bad meal leads to another, and another, and another... SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE! :scared1:

And to top it off, we're going to Key West for a quickie anniversary trip. My BFF from high school just bought a gym there and I'm seriously debating NOT seeing her while we're there 'cause I'm too embarrassed for her to see my like this! How ridiculous is THAT? Of course, it has nothing to do with the fact that she's an ex-competitive bodybuilder who still looks she just walked off the cover of the SI Swimsuit issue...

LOL, Kim, it's nice to be needed at work, isn't it? :goodvibes

Sorry for the tough landing after vacation. :hug: Pamela, gave you the perfect advice. One step at a time and you will be feeling like yourself again before you know it! :goodvibes

I'm sure your friend will be happy to see you and that you don't really look as bad as you fear either. princess:

You use photobucket or flickr to post photos -- I saw a few on FB and am looking forward to seeing a few more. :cool2:

Pamela, glad the weather report is looking good for DD's graduation this week-end. I'm sure your parents understand that you live in your house and that it is just fine. Get some food and drink and everyone will have a good time and enjoy celebrating DD's accomplishment and be ready to cheer her on to the next exciting phase in her life! :goodvibes

Thank goodness someone else is having a day/month like I am! I was feeling like such a slacker. And June ALWAYS seems to be like this for me. Good luck with your list and how wonderful about the big graduation party. It sounds fabulous! Sending lots of pixie dust for lots of "A" accomplished today for you. Off to fold a mountain of laundry before I have to pick up kids and go to the school concert tonight. Wish me luck as I vow to get at least 20 minutes of exercise in today. Screwed up yesterday but trying again today. :cheer2:

This is definately a tough time of year to get everything done with all the extra school activities. ::yes:: Persitence, not perfection. :teeth:

morning...anyone here get hit with the Midwest storm last night? our tornado sirens went off at 1:15 a.m.; local folks are in an uproar on FB as apparently it was way far north of my town and folks feel the media hype leads to happy siren blowers when it's not needed. I guess i'm just super thankful a tornado didn't rip through my town

anyhow..i'm not have a great week on the get moving part. my body hurts this week...but i'm going to try to walk my 2 miles on the schedule. I've been doing well with my plan of protein smoothie for brekkie, juicing throughout the day and one good sensible meal. I hope the scale reflects tomorrow

Plutobaby -- I've been there a million times!! you are checking in here so that's a good sign!

Pam -- hope things start to sail smoothly for you!!

my cyber-pep-talk to all of us who are struggling a little this week! the month is almost half-over...we gotta make each day count!

Thank you for the excellent reminder, Molli! :thumbsup2

well doing Atkins means NO free food for me so when I am hungry and feel like I need to eat something I reach for an Atkins vanilla shake - it has like 15 grams of protein and really tastes like melted vanilla ice cream and it only cost me 1 carb - however that said sometimes I just need a salty crunchy fix then I reach for the peanuts - not straight out of the can cause I'll eat too many but in my special little peanut cup :) LOL last night I had a teaspoon of all natural PB (no sugar just peanuts) and ate it on top of a sugar free special dark snack bar.. DELISH!!

YES oh my you body is telling you not enough in the tanks.. watch out for low blood sugar, dangerous.. a cup of juice is good or a piece of fruit..

Oh we will all help you.. please go see your friend, I am sure if she is a good friend there will be NO judgements.. have a GREAT time in Key West!

Amanda, that shake sounds yummy! :goodvibes

That is still the first step to getting back into a healthy routine!! Oh - and I can very much recommend hosting a month of WISH Away the Pounds - and as it happens we still need a hostess for July!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for hostessing this month, Magdalene! :flower3:

Thanks for the reminder on the weigh in today, too, and the fact that we don't have a hostess for July. We can always have just a chat thread for July but it isn't the same so I hope someone will step up -- maybe someone new who hasn't had a turn? :cool2:

Help! I am starving. I want to eat everything in the kitchen. I need a yummy low-carb snack idea. Anyone?
Why am I always so starving an hour after dinner?

Too late to help you last night, but I was wondering if you can stretch your dinner courses so you have something "saved" to eat later or maybe add some protein to your dinner to carry you longer? :confused3 That is frustrating to be hungry after dinner.

Alysa, I find that a stick of celery filled with light philadelphia cheese usally hits the spot.

I had a 3.8 loss at WW yesterday (2 weeks) which gives me a total of 17.8 pounds lost since January! :yay:

Happy Friday!

Yes, it is set to lose. I do typically try to get as close to 1200 a day as possible, but there are days like the other day that the thought of consuming more food is exhausting. I just can't make myself eat anymore.
So I paid for it yesterday but feeling nauseous. I ended up getting a chicken sausage wrap from Starbucks, which gave me enough time to get there to not feel icky anymore.

Help! I am starving. I want to eat everything in the kitchen. I need a yummy low-carb snack idea. Anyone?
Why am I always so starving an hour after dinner?

First of all.... are you really HUNGRY (stomach growling, blood sugar low) or is it HABIT?? I have a very strong evening snack HABIT that I have tried to ditch for years now.... but I finally decided that I need to learn to live with it and adjust my calories to allow for it.

If you are TRULY HUNGRY an hour after dinner, then obviously dinner isn't filling enough. Are you having plenty of protein (I presume you are, since you are eating low carb) and a big quantity of high fiber filling veggies??

DH's go-to low carb evening snacks are nuts (although you need to watch the portions because they are very calorie dense) and berries (perfect time of year for this!).

Alysa, I find that a stick of celery filled with light philadelphia cheese usally hits the spot.

Interesting question!! I haven't read your comments yet... trying to think on my own first!

1) Fruit - Apples....yummy raw or cooked and can be in sweet or savory dishes.

2) Vegetable - Greens (baby spinach if I must choose one). Good raw or cooked, hot or cold. (Onions would be a close second.)

3) Hot Drink - COFFEE!!!!

4) Cold Drink (non alcoholic) - almond milk.

5) Alcoholic Drink - Not much of a drinker, but I'd say light beer.

6) Meat - Eggs (if you can count them for meat).

7) Either Pasta, Rice or Noodles? Brown rice... love it!

8) Cheese - light sharp cheddar.

Okay... I'm making myself a rice pudding with my apple, almond milk, eggs and brown rice!! Got dessert fixed on my desert island!!:lmao:

I'm hitting the grocery store this morning while we are out for manicures. Dinner tonight is all set... tomorrow and Sunday are still up in the air, but I'll figure something out! And I figure the house has that "nice lived-in look" right now!:rotfl2:

Happy Friday!

WOOHOOO!!! And a big BRAVO to you!!;)

*******************

Morning all! I am feeling kind of :crazy2::scared1: as I try to get stuff done today. My "A" list didn't get finished yesterday. And the silly decorating project that I've been trying to finish up in DS's room actually FELL OFF THE WALL last night after I FINALLY got it finished and up!!:furious: So a big waste of my time there!

Everyone is fed for now, DS is off to school and DD is getting ready to head out (and hopefully is picking up the junk in her bathroom so I can clean it before my folks arrive). Thankfully my Mom had an appointment this morning, so they won't be here until after lunch! Usually they are "early morning" arrivers..... so that gives me a bit of lee-way to at least pick up a bit more!

Scale was down just a touch today.... which is okay in my book, considering last week's exercise was NIL. Still up a half pound over my lowest pre-vacation weight a few weeks ago though. But at least things keep going in the right direction.

Gotta dash for now! Have a great weekend if I don't make it back here today!..............P

PERFECT! Way to get back on track! One day at a time, one meal at a time, one BITE at a time!! Whatever it takes! What's for breakfast and lunch???..........P

I see where the photos were addressed so I'm reeditting my own post...

So instead I'll say congrats LisaH0711 on a great 2 week accomplishment!! And thanks on the depo encouragement, I hope it doesn't counteract progress, I am good at goals, terrible at maintenance, and if the goal feels unattainable the maintenance too often falls by the wayside dejectedly. :)

And congrats also to Pjilla on a tad down on the scale, as really every move in that direction counts...

Too late to help you last night, but I was wondering if you can stretch your dinner courses so you have something "saved" to eat later or maybe add some protein to your dinner to carry you longer? :confused3 That is frustrating to be hungry after dinner.
Thank you! I am blaming it on nursing the baby. I'm going to try going for a run before dinner tonight - that usually helps.

Good idea! I tried sunflower seeds but I ate a lot (too many) of them!

The front page has become more colourful!! I have added everyone's resutls that I have so far.

Congratulations to all the losers!! We did see some fantastic results this week!!

Lisa is already three quarters her way to her goal!! Congratulations!! I also saw that you mentioned that you had lost 17.8 pounds since January!! I know that you always mention that you are a slow loser, but I think being 17.8 pounds lighter is quite some achievement!

Eliza, thank you very much for coaching this week!!! You did a great job! While I often just did not have the time to answer the QOTD I always love to read them and the various replies!!

I will take over coaching for one day tomorrow and then Jill will do the next week.

If anyone would like to try coaching, the last week of June is still available. I want to encourage especially the new participants! It really is not that difficult, just post a QOTD and many coaches also try to keep the conversation going during their week - depending on how much time they have. Many of us find that during weeks when they are coaching they find it easier to stay focussed on the weight loss. So if anyone wants to give it a try, send me a PM!!

Also: July hosting is still available!!!

Glad everyone is doing so well, scales moving in a positive (or should that be negative) directon this week generally. Although I've lost nothing so far in June, I am really happy to have lost my conference gain. Still 2 weeks to try and hit my 7lb target though (but not too hopeful as I'm on holiday for the last week n June and am going away camping, which always means 'bad' food.......fruit toast, butter, porridge, you name it!!! Got to have a good holiday though!

Not able to take on hosting in July as I'm really busy, but happy to take another week coaching - I quite enjoy coming up with questions that I hope you guys find interesting.

Father's Day here on Sunday, so going visiting to see OH's dad (mine left this mortal earth 17 years ago)

Have a good weekend

I haven't really lost much yet but I did put on my skinny jeans without the dreaded muffin top. Plus I took my kids out to eat and stopped myself from scarfing down fries. I ate chicken instead.
Small victories make it easier.

I PM'd you this morning that I could start coaching tomorrow. If you happen to post a QOTD, I'll take over one Sunday. If I don't see one, I'll post one.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I MISSED YOU GUYS!! I tried so hard to make time for the thread while at the beach, but I found myself not wanting to have anything to do with electronics :) We had 6 children between 2nd and 5th grades and only one was really on an electronic device (a DS and Kindle). That boy was there with his grandparents (our friend's parents~our friend's invited us and another family), so he had no parent telling him no all week :lmao: Anyhow, we had a blast and we are home now :( I must confess, I only worked out 3 days (walking 2 days and walk/run the other). I also did not eat very healthy. I am so worried about weighing in tomorrow. I feel so bloated, so I know I've gained. I'll be going grocery shopping in the morning, so I need to make a menu & list tonight. I need to make sure I get plenty of fruits and veggies this week. The one good thing, I drink a ton of water!
So, I'm all caught up and ready for tomorrow. I'm not sure if I'm posting the QOTD tomorrow or Magdalene is, but either way, I'll be here! I'm excited to be back and hopefully everyone's losses will be motivation for me for the rest of June.
Have a great night.
Jill
