Wiring money to states

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased 50 points DVC though resale. The company only accepted wire transfers and I thought mine was sent last Thursday. The bank however is having trouble sending it and it was sent back. I suspect the mistake was made at my local bank, but I am now stuck with a $50 processing fee and I have to try to send the wire again, since it is all the title company will accept.

Has anyone else had problems sending a wire transfer to the U.S.? Any suggestions?

I sent one last year through Scotia Bank and this year through Royal Bank. No problems.
I know you have to be really carefull with the account number and routing number and they need a physical US residential address (in addition to the banks address).
Perhaps you have the wrong account number? Did the bank tell you exactly what the problem was? The entire process should only take 3-5business days for them to receive it.

Thanks for the reply RainbowsMist. The bank I tried to send from was a Royal bank and I am pretty sure my problem was the teller. I don't think she entered all of the necessary information that I gave her. I am going to try again today at another branch of Royal bank and hope it works this time - I don't want to have to keep paying $50 every time someone else makes a mistake (it is bad enough to pay for your own mistakes!).

A teller did it?? That doesn't seem right. At TD wires are done at the "side counter" by one of the more knowledgeable people. Did you get a copy of the wire? You should have and if it is missing any info you gave them you should be going in and complaining and having it sent again for free. If it was their mistake you should not be out the $50. Also, $50 seems like a lot. Again, at TD, the fee is $30 for wires up to $10,000 - I don't know how much 50 points cost but I wouldn't think it would be above 10K (I could be wrong ).

Thanks for the replies. I went to a different branch of the same bank and resent the wire - no problems at all this time. When I explained what had happened previously they ended up refunding my $50.
