We are heading to WLV soon and I know some folks set up a wireless router in their room. We purchased a new linksys wireless g router for this purpose as my wife has to work during the day. Will it be hard to set up once we get in the room or is it just plug and go? Do we need to know ip addresses and such or a hassle to get to work? When you travel with your router do you have to reconfigure it each time you check into one of the dvc rooms? Any help or thoughts is appreciated.

Set it up at home first and get you computer to find the router. We have a Linksys card so all we have to do is push the white button on the router and they sync up.

The internet access seems to be different at each resort. At some we would get logged off if we didn't keep using the keyboard. Other resorts didn't seem to care. Some resorts use DSL, others have a broadband connection. Neither one required setting any IP addresses.

I don't know how the free internet now changes things.

You won't need to know the IP address - the router will assign one for you. You will basically just plug the broadband cable into the router and then your laptop should be able to "see" it and make the connection.

Unless you are trying to make a secure configuation, it should be fairly straightforward to set everything up.

Have a great trip! :)

I used one at BWV and it was plug in and go. There were a couple of times we had to call the tech support for them to give us a code to be able to log on. The tech supprt was very easy and no problem. I called the number which came up on my screen which i think was 56 and they told me to click on a specific word on my screen and gave me a code to type in and we were off to the races. Having the wireless router was really nice, I was able to update my trip report in the mornings or afternoons while sitting outside on the porch. We had a 2 BDR and brought two laptops, it was really convenient have the wireless capability.

Thanks for the tips. I'll set it up at home first and make sure I can connect to it and then hope for the best when I get there.
