The August 2012 issue of Wine Spectator features a special issue that acknowledges 3,795 restaurants around the world that "wine lovers need to know."

Among the magazine's roster of restaurants are the following WDW establishments (each was identified with an Award of Excellence):

Citricos Restaurant (GFR)
Flying Fish Cafe (BWI)
Il Mulino New York Trattoria (Swan)
Jiko (AKL)
Narcoossee's (GFR)
Shula's Steakhouse (Dolphin)
Todd English's Blue Zoo (Dolphin)
Yachtsman Steakhouse (Y&BC)

and...Victoria & Albert's (GFR)..which received a Best of Award of Excellence acknowledgement.

Impressive.

All the best. :thumbsup2

Ah...Jiko wines! We wish we had a Stellenbosch shiraz right now...with some butternut squash soup.

All the best. :thumbsup2

You can get good wines at Victoria Falls also...bartenders know their african wines. We also love Sanaa bread service with african wine flights

Is the Jiko Wednesday Wine Tasting held each week? Heading down in early September 2012 and would love to do this.

Thanks for posting this. I'm a little surprised that Artist Point wasn't also mentioned since they have a wonderful selection of wines from the Pacific Northwest.

Yes, each Wed only. I did a review of our last trip in Sept when we did this. It's amazing!

Kara...Thanks for the info!

I work for a restaurant that has won the Wine Spectator Grand Award (their top award) each year for over twenty years and really enjoy going to tastings when I travel.

A few things might have changed over the year, but this is what we got to experience. I would absolutely tell anyone to go :)

Sorry for hijacking the thread, OP!!

Thank you for the review and the accompanying photos of the afternoon wine tasting at Jiko (and thanks to MAYNARDS999 for initially alerting us).

We've just booked a tasting for next month.

As of yesterday, the date we were interested in was booked; however, it was available today (thanks, no doubt, to a cancellation).

All the best. :thumbsup2
