I would like to bring about 2-3 bottles of wine in my suitcase wrapped in my clothing on the airplane with me..it would be in the checked baggage...is that allowed? I know we can bring our own booze on the cruise so that isn't a worry.
Thanks

Bags that are checked get banged around a lot! Ifit were me I would put it in my carry on (done that) and you know it will be safe... (also put it in a big zip lock bag just incase ..)

Or do what we've successfully done on both our cruises, obtain a box from your local Beverages & More (or any liquor store should have them) that they actually transport the wine in. Our box held 6 bottles of wine, so we brought 3 and 3 bottles of sparkling cider for the kids to celebrate our first night with. We check it as a piece of luggage at the airport and on our first cruise it was delivered to our room as luggage, on this past 2/7 cruise they called me in our stateroom (thank goodness I happened to be in there) and made me go back out to the terminal and hand carry the box to our room, which wasn't a big deal at all. Next time I will just carry it on with us.

You also may want to see if you can get a "carry on" wine carrier, if you don't mind carry ons. It is just a cardboard box with a handle and 2, 4 or 6 compartments for wine. We are saving one of ours from our Napa trip to possibly bring a couple of bottles on board. I wouldn't trust packing it in your luggage. You could find your clothing to be stained a beautiful, yet unattractive Merlot!

I spoke to DCL about this last month. They said you were allowed to bring it as a carry on but not in your checked luggage.

Since luggage gets on the ship via forklifts, I would not want all of my clothes at risk.

We are planning to wait until we reach port canaveral and then go to one of the many places there that sell wine and pick up a bottle to carry on. That way, we don't even have to worry about the airline leg of the trip.

Dave's DCL tribute has a really helpful map that shows all the places in Cocoa and along the way to the boat that sell stuff.

We bought our wine in Cocoa beach on our last cruise. The prices were very good and it was much easier than transporting it on the plane. DCL took it with all our luggage and put it in our stateroom. The guy taking our luggage told us that sometimes it does'nt make it to the ship(wink, wink).

Is that near the port or is it in Nassua? Can you buy booze and bring it back on board with you?

When we went to Germany 3 years ago we brought back 32 bottles of beer and 12 bottles of wine all wrapped in clothes in our 2 suitcases. Crazy I know it was DH's idea! Nothing at all broke and I think I would pack it like this again. I am not sure how much more the luggage gets thrown around on DCL than on the plane but it worked for us. Also we only bought white wine and we were on our way home so we had no real worries if anything broke.

Cocoa beach is just south of Port Canaveral where you get on the boat. I would say it begins about 2 miles south of the cruise terminal and runs south for several miles. Cocoa beach has lots of hotels, restaurants, and stores. We are staying overnight at the Radisson resort at the port the night before our cruise.

In Nassau there are several liquor stores in town. I think you are allowed to buy booze and bring it on board with you. A few years ago we bought some liquor there for about half the Ohio price. I remember getting a 12 oz coke that was shrinkwrapped to a 375 ml Bacardi rum for just $1! That cruise was with Carnival, so I don't know for sure if you can take liquor on board at Nassau, but I would guess that you could.
