Hi, I just wanted to post a quick review of our lunch yesterday at Wine Country Trattoria, in DCA.

We have AP and went to try to ride Nemo yesterday (Tues 6/12) but didn't-line was 2 hrs. We'll wait til the interest drops. So, we went over to DCA to grab lunch (Pizza Port line was out the door, past the giant, wet, marble! :scared: )

My 2 Dsis both wanted salads, and the options at DCA are pretty slim, for salads (The ones at Pizza Oom Mow Mow are not as good as Pizza Port at DL). I convinced them to eat at WCT and we had a wonderful, relaxing, meal. We arrived about 12:30, or so, and the wait was quoted at 15-30 min. We waited about 20 min. and were seated on the outside patio (we requested first avail.). Almost all of the outside tables have large umbrellas, very nice in the warm CA sun! :goodvibes

Our server was Iyesha (or something close) and when she asked if she could take our drink order, I asked if they had to-go cups, and she said yes. So we ordered 2 Diet Cokes, 1 Coke, and DD7 got Minute Maid Lemonade (served in kid's cup with lid).

While we were waiting for our drinks, a busboy brought the table some large, soft bread sticks along with a sun dried tomato, cream cheese spread. The breadsticks were good, they would have been great if they were warm. :thumbsup2 Both my DSis are very picky eaters, and wouldn't try the cc spread. I requested some butter from the busboy and he quickly returned with butter pats shaped like roses. So cute!.

DSis's decided to split the Meatball Sandwich - Hot, house-made meat balls, zesty marinara sauce, caramelized onions, shredded mozzarella cheese served on a freshly baked baguette. $10.29 and a House Salad - Garden greens, Roma tomatoes, topped with shredded cheese and our house-made croutons with your choice of Italian, blue cheese, ranch or oil & vinegar $3.49, ranch dressing on the side. I ask our server of the 2 salads I was looking at (Pizzeta Salad and Tuscan Salad) which she liked better. She rec. the Pizzeta. I ordered that. Pizzeta Salad - Romaine hearts, Roma tomatoes, smoked bacon, crumbled blue cheese, Kalamata olives with a creamy Italian dressing served on a warm pizzeta crust $9.99 DD7 ordered the "Perfecto" Pasta - Tender Pasta Noodles beneath hearty Marinara Sauce. Served with Seasonal Fresh Fruit. $5.99 inc. beverage

My salad was really good! I can heartily recommend it. I picked off the olives (there were about 12 olives, cut in half) If my DM had been there, she would have enjoyed them! The flavors of the salad were really great together. It was lightly dressed, not to heavy. It took awhile to eat through the salad to get to the warm bread below, but when I did, it was sooooo worth it. The combination of the warm bread, and cold salad, was really good. :cloud9:

DSis's meatball sandwich was good (so they said, I didn't taste it-too busy with my salad.) When their House Salad was set on the table I knew they weren't happy. (Did I mention they are picky eaters? :rotfl2: ) The salad was all field greens, with wedges of tomato, small amount of grated soft cheese, and croutons. My older Dsis tasted the croutons and said, "Well, at least the croutons are good!" I told them that I was sure that if we told the server they weren't happy with the salad, she would make it right. They said ok-so I told the server that they weren't happy and they would prefer greens like in my salad. She happily brought them a new salad, which they liked. :goodvibes

DD7 pasta was a huge serving (big enough for an adult). The marinara sauce was served on the side (nice touch, Disney). She said it was good, but barely made a dent in it. We took the leftover pasta home. This meal would definitely be splitable between 2 kids, or even a kid and a lighteater, adult. I just realized that she was supposed to get fresh fruit with her meal, and didn't, but she woudn't have eaten it anyway-she was full after the breadstick and pasta.

Like I said, we usually eat at Pizza Port, but after eating at WCT again, I plan on returning again, in the near future. The meal cost about the same, but the servings sizes were more generous (esp. the kid's pasta) and it was just such a nice atmosphere. Also, with the lines we saw at the Counter Service locations, I think we probably were eating sooner than if we had waited in one of those lines.

Thanks for the report, Dizneydaz! That sounds really yummy, especially your salad. I'll be in DL in August (by myself). I have been thinking about making ressies at the WCT for one evening, asking for the patio, and then staying to watch the ELP. Now I'm pretty much convinced! :thumbsup2 I suppose the pasta your DD ordered was a kid's meal, but do you think anyone could order it? It sounded like it would feed an adult, and with the drink included, it's sure a great price.

I don't know-When we were at WDW in Jan. 05, most of my family ordered kid's meals at Hollywood Brown Derby, without any problem. :goodvibes However, we did have to pay for the drink, it wasn't included (for adults) So I say, go ahead and ask-all they can do is saw no-it was definitely enough for one adult!

Here's a pix of DD with her pasta after she ate all she wanted (you'll notice she doesn't put on much sauce!) and that's a grape in her mouth from my sister's meal.

Have a great trip! :wizard:

After reading your review I think my DH and I will have to try this restaurant when we are in DL in August too! Thanks so much. :)

Thanks for the fine review.

Are there two restaurants at this approx. location in DCA? (one more expensive?) Also, was wondering if this place also has pizza? & if so is it good?

Might be a good alternative from burgers and soup in basketball sized container of bread. :) Thanks!

There are two restaurants there. The other one is called The Vineyard Room. According to Deb Wills' site there is no pizza at WCT, but that may not be as up-to-date a menu as those on here would have... http://www.allearsnet.com/dlr/din/menu/men_trat.htm
