Wine and Dine relay questions

The first runner completes 4.8 miles and the second completes 8.3 miles, correct? How does the hand off work? Is it mass confusion at the hand off point? My husband and I are considering it for this fall, but I want to be certain I understand all the "quirks" before we pay the $$$ for the race.

On a side note, I saw that the Family 5K price was cut in half for this year's race...last year I paid a little over $100. I'm happy they lowered the cost of that fun run!

I ran the first half last year and I'm doing this leg again this year. As far as announcing when your partner is coming, I'm not quite sure how that went. I, personally, had my phone with me(which also serves as my ipod) and when I got to EE I sent my running partner a text that I had already pre programmed. So, basically, all I had to do was hit send. This let her know I'd be at the transition zone in about 5" or so... this worked fantastic! I plan to do exactly the same thing this year.

We really enjoyed doing the relay and are looking forward to this years race and all the changes Disney has stated they are employing...at least I hope they are

I ran the second leg last year, and the hand off was only slightly chaotic. I'm sure it'll be better organized this year. The second leg partners were corralled by bib number, so the first runner would know where to look for their partner. It helps to know your partners average pace so you know when to expect them in the exchange zone. Once the first partner crossed the timing mats at the beginning of the exchange zone, the second partner was able to go. There was no baton to exchange like you would have in a track and field relay type event.
