Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2024)

For many years, MNSSHP on Halloween was our family tradition. The parade and fireworks alone were worth the cost! Prices escalated, my son grew up, and I’ve been out of the party game for years… but I’m ready to make a return. And since I’m not running the 5K or the 10K, I’ll have plenty of time to recover sleep! Just waiting for tickets to go on sale for those of us without resort reservations on the 15th.

Am I crazy for actually considering going on 10/31? I've never actually done one of these parties (except for After Hours at HS last year) and the cost seems ridiculous to me, but I am feeling the FOMO so hard today and I'm unsure what to do. $200 for a few hours at MK seems ludicrous to me. What am I missing?
I also bought my ticket for halloween today! Running all 3 races at wine and dine. Now the only question that remains is power nap after the party for an hour or just stay up and roll right into the 5k 🤣

I absolutly love halloween and this is my only opportunity for the party so it was a no brainer for me to a ticket.

I have the same question LOL

I’m opting for rolling right into the 5K, after a stop at the resort to switch costumes and drop the goodies off. Then I’ll power nap after the 5K—I never go to the parks until 9 or 10 anyway.

I'm pretty steady about going to bed by 11, so I'm not sure how long I'll last at the party. I'll play it by ear but I am kinda scared if I "nap" that I won't wake up to the alarm! I check out and go home the afternoon of the 5K so I'll definitely come back and nap after and take advantage of my time in the room until I'm kicked out at 11.

On whim today, I decided that I didn’t have enough going on for my W&D trip 😂😂, so I booked a ticket for Halloween Horror Nights at USO on 10/30. I got an express pass, so I shouldn’t have a problem seeing everything. And being solo at USO means I can usually zip ride through any ride lines I might actually want to do.

The only thing I have to do on Thursday during the day is jump over to the expo, and I usually catch the first bus, dip into the arena for my platinum bag and a quick run through the rD merch, and then a quick walk around the vendors—at Springtime, I was on a bus back to the resort before 11am, so if I need a nap before the party, I’ve got more than enough time.

Is it too soon to start talking costumes?

For the 5k, my son wants to dress up as chef linguini, with a Remy in his chef's hat, that will be lit so you can see him inside. I'll probably end up just making my husband and I chef outfits as well as "supporting" characters.

for the 10k, I want to do a Tiana inspired outfit. I'm not sure if I should go for the movie yellow dress with white apron, or the race artwork, which might be a bit too obscure?

For the half, I'm thinking of a chef mickey outfit. Again, not sure if I should go for similar to the artwork, or follow the classic Chef Mickey restaurant outfit.

Never too early! These sound like fun. You might also want to post on this thread, which is all about costumes and usually full of great ideas and advice: https://www.disboards.com/threads/the-updated-and-all-inclusive-costume-thread.3846975/

The race artwork is similar to her Tiana’s Palace dress from the end of the movie… she wears it in Disneyland (see attached pic)

As far as too early for planning I already got some fabric for costumes while I was getting fabric for springtime…. Now to use it to be lady liberty piggy for the 5k as planned or use it for something PatF inspired for the 10k

I was looking at photos of the construction walls around test track, and it looks like they've blocked off the path that runDisney uses to exit the park for the finish line. Do we think A) they'll relocate those walls for the race, or B) they'll change the usual route out? With all the walls down, they could even have us go down the central spine (whatever its called now), under SE, and out that way.

Hmm. I like that idea. But, that prioritizes the runners over the guests, so I’m going with no.

Epcot doesn't usually opens before the half is over, so there shouldn't be a worry of prioritizing guests vs runners
Granted I think the half now starts earlier than it did in 2016 because when I went to Epcot that morning because a) I needed to pick up an AP promotional item and b) I wanted to take character pictures they held us up front till runners crossed and people were getting so annoyed they were trying to rip my 10k medal off my neck
