I'm on the hunt for a windsor hills rental and am surprised that every master bath has a stand-up shower. Are there any that have whirlpool tubs? THis is the one thing my husband is demanding because of the extensive walking at disney - it was a life saver on our last trip. All your guidance is appreciated, as I've been lurking for some time and am learning a lot from you! :teacher:

Hmm...that's strange! The townhomes all have Jacuzzi brand bathtubs in the master bathrooms (notice I said brand, they do not have jets). The townhome splash pools also have jets you can turn on, not as many as a "real" hot tub...but they sure are nice after a long day of walking around in the parks!

Many of the larger pool homes also have a true hot tub as part of their pool (this was an option from the builder when the homes were built), and of course, the clubhouse pool has an awesome lagoon style large hot tub!

Not sure what the master baths in the condos or pool homes have, but I can tell you for sure that your statement about every master bathroom being a stand up shower is incorrect, all of the townhomes are identical floor plans / layouts, and all have Jacuzzi bathtubs!

If you can't find a whirlpool tub you can look for a home with a stand alone spa the jets and the heat are great for sore muscles!

you know, I was just looking at the condos. I did find townhomes with the splash pools that have heat and jets. I just emailed one of them for a quote. I had actually just wanted a condo, because I can't imagine us needing a townhouse. However, I couldn't find a condo with a whirlpool. Thanks for the tip!:flower3:

Are you talking about inside bathroom tubs or an outside jacuzzi???

The homes do have stand up showers in the master baths (very large one in the home we rented) plus they have a separate tub. Maybe on the virtual tours it wasn't clear? Our home had a "jacuzzi" type tub (not sure of the model or brand) but it had jets that you could turn on.

For outside, only the townhouses and homes have their own outside pools and spas. The condos are in buildings right near the community pool and hot tub. The community pool is large and so is the hot tub. The hot tub is right near the pool, tucked behind a little bit and is quite large. I did try it one time, even though it was July, and it was very hot but felt good on my sore feet.

I haven't stayed in a condo so I'm not sure what it has inside but I'm sure any owner would be happy to clarify for you if you were interested in their unit.

Good luck.

I'm here at windsor Hills now (full review at end of trip, I promise!) and I was also surprised that the huge master bathroom had only a VERY small tub. I mean smaller than mine at home. It is Jacuzzi brand, as George indicated, but no jets or anything. The tub in the bathroom which serves the twin bedded rooms is actually more normal size (standard).

My father-in-law has a shoulder "thing" and he got in the spa outside, turning on the jets. Not super hot or super powerful, but better than nothing.

We stayed the last 2 years in Emerald Island and both master baths had enormous garden tubs (fit our family of four -- our kids were pretty little tho!).

Hope this helps!

You're in a 5 bedroom pool home, right? I'm surprised you would say the Jacuzzi tub is "small"...I'm not sure if they're the same ones as are in the townhomes (I would imagine they are). It's actually slightly larger in the townhomes than a "normal" sized bathtub (which we have in the 2nd upstairs bathroom). And no, no jets, but we do have some jets in the splash pools you can turn on / off.

Does your pool home have a separate hot tub / spa attached to the pool? (Some do).

The resort clubhouse has a huge spa / hot tub that is over 100+ degrees and has tons of jets though if you're really looking for a proper hot tub.

I think it is small. But readers can decide for themselves. Let's see if this works!

Oh hmm...that's a completely different model than the one in the townhomes!

The townhomes have a bathtub / shower...but it's a lot more like an oversized bathtub than anything! (In the master bathroom). It's a Jacuzzi brand tub, but no jets, but it's more like a super deep regular sized bathtub than anything.

I don't think I have any pics of it though without the shower curtain covering it in any of our homes to share with you all though.

Thanks for sharing, much appreciated! :)

Mainebound,

We are considering renting the Jura villa (next door to the Gigha). Have you noticed if anyone is renting it this week? The Gigha was booked already. Anyway, the Jura is a bit more money than the others we are looking at and just wondered if it was worth it. How do you like the Gigha? I think they are laid out the same and since they are the same owners, I was hoping you could give me some insight. Thanks!

Carrie

Hi Carrie,

Yup there are guests in Jura, and the owners also own the home we are in now.

We are really enjoying our stay at the Gigha Villa and at Winsdor Hills so far. But we have another several days and I don't like to give a review until we've left, so watch for my detailed review on the review board end of next week.

Time to walk down to the club house to get our ice cream! :cool1:

But before I do -- here's something no body warned us about -- wildlife storming our villa:

Wow that's kind of cool! Did he come over for the ice cream!? hehe

At least you didn't get a visit from one of Florida's creepy critter versions of wildlife! Lot's of critters down there you wouldn't want to see up close and personal!

Hi Carrie
We have booked Jura for later this year. It looks fantastic...I can't wait. The owner has been great aswell. I was really impressed at how easy the process was. I can't wait to hear Mainebound's report.

We just got home from one on Basnett Circle - Floridashaven. Ditto on the tiny tub. It was a jaccuzi brand but no jets. I actually think jets in a bathtub are overrated - hate the rumbling when I am trying to relax!

The hottub attached to the pool was amazing - it got to 103 no problem and was a joy to the sore feet in the evenings.

You could choose a home with pool and spa - the spas at Windsor Hills are jetted and are just great for unwinding after a hard day at the parks!

We are looking into Windsor Hills for next year. What we are looking at says apartment style villa has anyone seen these? Does anyone know how far these are from the pool? Is the pool kept warm I hate cold pools?

There were apts that did not have a pool (they were 3 or 4 floors high) and then there were townhomes but I must say the pool in those backyards is more like a large hottub - no idea how deep they are but they looked small. All of those accommodations seem to be walking distance from the clubhouse anyways.

There are 2 and 3/2 bedroom highrise style condos, 3 bed / 3 bath townhomes with a splash pool (it's 12' x 12'), and 4/5/6 bedroom pool homes in Windsor Hills Resort.

There are not that many 2 bedroom condos, or very many 4 bedroom homes either, just so you know, in the resort, which has 1000 homes total.

The poster's comment about them being "small" is I guess one of perception, no they're not as big as a pool home pool but they're a lot bigger than most hot tubs, and are about 5 feet deep in the deep end. Our kids love it more than the big pool actually, so much so that we rarely seem to make it over to the clubhouse, but it's not the kind of thing you would be swimming laps in either.

Personally we'd rather be in a townhome with a private pool and no neighbors on top/bottom of us, and our own driveway / etc, but I don't mean that as a put down to the condos in any way, they are very nice also. The townhomes are pretty big, just over 1416 sq feet, while the 3 bedroom (2 bath) condos are actually even slightly larger, closer to 1500 sq feet.

All of the homes are gorgeous actually, not everyone needs a large pool home, and not everyone wants a pool necessarily either, so there's really something for everyone! Of course, the pool homes rent for more than the condos or townhomes do, so that all comes into consideration when you're looking at what size place is right for your group! The condos are slightly less expensive than the townhomes due to not having a pool and such.

ALL of the townhomes and condos are within easy walking distance to the clubhouse, lately we get a lot of inquiries asking "how far?"... at most it's a 2 block walk, and if that were too far for someone you can always hop in the car and park at the clubhouse (some of the pool homes might be a bit further). Here's the thing though...if you're in a townhome or pool home, chances are you're going to be spending the most time in your own private pool, and not even be going to the clubhouse pool as much as you might think you would. It took us a few trips to realize that we weren't really "missing" the big pool, that we often have the most fun in our own!

To answer the question about an "apartment style villa".....I'm not sure what they mean! LOL Keep in mind there's lots of UK owners ...and a villa or "apartment" to someone from the UK means different things...and in the UK they don't know what a "townhome" is. I would ask them if they are talking about a condo, townhome, or single family home....since it's really not clear.... I would guess they mean one of the condos, but I've heard townhomes called a "condo" (mistakenly) by people before...or a "villa".

.... I can't wait to hear Mainebound's report.
....

Me too!:surfweb: :surfweb:

Make sure all of you give a quick review of the homes you're renting - they look lovely!!

...although the crane is an optional feature, I hope... Must be a "book and pay upon arrival" type thing;);)

:teeth:

Have fun!!

:sunny:
