Windsor Hills townhomes general questions

I am going to book a townhome for X-mas 2007. I am a compulsive researcher so I have already read every single Windsor Hills post since Dec. of 2006. The remaining questions I have are mainly about locations of townhomes within the community. It seems that since the back wall of the townhome is almost all glass, that the view out the back would impact the overall "feel" of the home. What are the potential views out the back of the town homes? I know that some of them back up to open fields but that seems to be the exception. Do the others back up to roads, other townhomes?... If they back up to something other than a field will they have a privacy fence?

I read enough older posts to get the picture that the management co. for any given townhome can greatly impact your stay. Please feel free to chime in about good experiences with specific townhomes/mgmt co.'s. I've read George's responses on a lot of posts, so his units are already on my list of ones to look more closely at.

Thanks

Hi
mostly all townhomes back to "green" but some do back to the main road, you can ask the owner to send you photos to see the "back" I am sure they will have no problem at all

I would look more at the home you want than what it backs up to. The outer perimeter of WHR is a big privacy fence, so if you're on the edges there's a big wall behind the pools. We feel the amenities, etc are more important than what it faces out the rear, there's really not any "bad" locations I would try and avoid, our one townhome backs up to another row of townhomes, it's never bothered us in the least, or I guess, if it was really a significant issue for us, I wouldn't have bought that particular home, for example.

I would look into the amenities, furnishings, theming (if you're looking for that), etc, more than most other factors, there's variation from home-home in these things, as well as price variation.

When Ana said they back to a "main road" she means inside of Windsor Hills Resort, not one that's a main Fl road or something.

I have to agree. We walked around the townhome area quite a bit when we stayed at WH in March and I thought it was all very pretty. I wouldn't even bother trying to avoid a townhome that is on the "main road" because as others have noted, it is not a busy road and all, and besides, being on the mian road would probably put you in a really good loaction for proximity to the club house (although other areas would be close too).

Hello, we were at WH in March and I thought I would weigh in on this question. We rented a townhome on Renshaw St. which backed onto greenspace and were very glad we did. You are right, the whole back of the home is window (it is sooo nice...) and we felt that what we looked out on was quite important to us. We had greenspace, a little walkway, a gazebo and even palm trees to look out at from the pool and inside living areas. We disagree with others, as we walked around and saw the retaining wall behind some townhomes , or worse, someone elses "yard" and pool backing directly onto theirs, we were very happy with what we booked. The townhomes are all lovely, very new, well laid out, the pictures really don't do them justice. We were glad we opted for location, greenspace behind us, close to the clubhouse rather than just inside furnishings (for us, whether or not we had a plasma TV or regular TV didn't matter too much!!!) We loved spending the time outdoors.
Anyway, that is our two cents!

If privacy is important to you, check out an arial view of the layout of the townhomes and choose one according to it's view. Most owners will let you know where their home is located.

For us, western or southern sun is pretty important as we go in January and we need all the sunshine we can get! Plus, even though we pay to have the splash pool heated, there's something psychologically 'summer-ish' about swimming in full sun.:cool2:

We were in a unit that was on an end and backed up to the center green space. It was lovely. I'm having a hard time thinking about renting a townhome that isn't on the end as the privacy walls between units in the splash pool area make it seem kinda closed off....and if there's no sun, they don't look inviting to me at all. Just me, though. My kids don't care;)

I really don't think I could ever stay anywhere else off property having stayed at WH....and we can stay onsite anywhere we'd like as our yearly trip's accomodations are paid for by dh's company. I've even looked into DVC...but you just can't beat the amenities (and price) of WH. Having stayed at Cypress Point and Vistana, and most of the resorts on property in all price ranges, WH is my favorite Disney accomodation.

(Just wish 5min2disney's new themed home was available during our upcoming stay!)

edited to add: we stayed at the 'Disney Dreamin' unit and the owners were wonderful.
