today we ordered me a new notebook and it will be my first time using vista does anyone else use it what do you think of it

I've used Vista on a Compaq laptop since April and have had nothing but problem after problem (and inevitably, long hours on the phone with customer service), but someone else on the DIS said that it works perfectly for them, so it might vary between computers and instances.

I have XP.
I want Vista, I don't know if my brother has problems with it, but it looks fantastic.
And his IE works perfectly with his operating system. Right now mines messed up and I can't use it. I'll be using Mozilla until I get a new computer, or IE manages to go back to the way it was.

Vista does look nice, but that's so far the only benefit I've noticed. It's mostly just annoying. And your brother sounds lucky; IE7 was a pain in the rear, and since it doesn't even work right with my Vista I had to witch to Firefox (though I like that better anyway). Unfortunately, Mozilla Firefox doesn't work perfectly either. if I leave it open for over fifteen minutes (or put the computer to sleep with MF still open, or even minimized) it'll freeze for a minute or two when I try to use it again. I've gotten used to this and just wait it out now, but it's still really frustrating to put up with, especially on such a new computer.

Mozilla is slow, I'm not used to clicking on that icon, and I don't know how to set up the memory on recently visited websites. IE just deletes one when you enter another in. But t his you can keep the sites as long as you want. So right now, I have it set to 'always remember' and I have a pile of sites in that thing. But if I set it back to default, and close the browser, there are no sites in it.
IE7, I've had for a while on XP, but right now it's being a pain. I don't know what happened, but when I right click links the option of 'Open in new tab' is gone. And when I go right click a tab to press the 'Close tab' it's not in the same spot.

Vista is too much of a ram sucker for me to do what I need to do on it. For an every day browser though, its perfectly fine. I just ask more of my computer than the average person does. So I use XP till they work the kinks out of vista.

I use XP alot more than Vista.

On my dads laptop I use Vista and its a VAIO, Sony. I've had to call customer service several times because it has tiny bugs in it. But also its Sony, because they have updates like every other day and you have to update your computer or it goes weird on you.

Other than that, its fine. But I prefer XP.

i have a dell latitude notebook and i have windows vista on it and love it. i like it a lot better than windows xp. it also has a better look too. you'll love it.

I have XP. =] My brother has Vista and he says it's really confusing until you get the hang of it. He says it's nothing like Windows.

I have Vista...never had problems with it...of course we got a new computer with Vista installed...meaning everything was compatible with Vista...

The only problem is my Age of Empires games don't work on here anymore... *pouts*

Am I the only one who's ever had problems with Vista? None of my school discs are compatible with it, Windows Media Player was so appallingly frustrating that I just gave up using it completely, almost no downloadable programs from the internet will work, and for a few months I even had to turn the graphics down to almost the bare minimum because it wasn't working anywhere near fast enough, effectively nulling the only plus that Vista has to offer (the spiffy graphics).

Though I do like the bubble screensaver.

I think the largest amount of problems that people are having with Vista is if they are trying to use XP compatible programs with it...that's the most trouble I've heard...

My friend works for Dell (uber-nerd there)...he loves Vista so far...plus he's trying to get me a copy of Photoshop FOR FREE...heck yes...got the computer hookups there yo....lol
