Wow - I just received a quote for window treatments for my living room and I wanted to see if anyone knows how I can knock the prices down. My quote was for 4 Hunter Douglas Luminette Privacy Shades at a cost of $577 a window (ouch!!) PLUS $2,300 for sheer draperies and a top treatment for a picture window. I knew what I was looking at was a bit pricey but these quotes really seem WAY too high. Any advise? Thanks!!

I have had good luck with justblinds.com for wood blinds. Their prices were ridiculously low, but I'm not sure if they have the kinds of blinds you're looking for.

I also used justblinds.com and I have a lot of windows. I saved well over a $1000.

If you have standard window sizes, JC Penney's has a lot of differant styles of shades and blinds that you can "buy off the rack" as it were, rather than custom order. And unless you REALLY have odd sizes, there standard stock of drapes should fit almost anything, and they have TONS of styles to choose from. You can also order custom jobs through them, but I don't know how their prices are, I've never done it. You can check it out at www.jcpenney.com

Smith and Noble is great. I'd look there.

I agree with Chicago526. I needed to buy insulated drapes for two large windows this fall. For the livingroom window, I ordered sheers, drapes, valances, and a rod (hidden kind with pulley). For the bedroom window, I ordered a decorative rod, holdbacks, hanging rings and drapes. I used a code and saved 30% off my order. Total cost for both windows was roughly $450. It took DH and I about 2 hours to put up the drapes in the livingroom and they look very nice.

They sometimes have a coupon in the Entertainment book. You can also try Home Depot.

I second this! If you sign up for their updates, you'll get coupon codes for 10-15% off your order. I probably have their latest in my email somewhere.

We were quoted $340+ per window from JC Penney for double cellular shades..... and that included a 50% discount. At decorate today it was just over $100 with my coupon and free shipping.
