It is on our 5 year plan to put gutters on our house, which has never had them (it is about 30 years old, we have been here about 2 years) In the meantime, there are a couple windows on the north side of the house having moisture issues.
I looked at one of them today, and there is a HUGE chunk missing off the bottom of the lower sash....I knew it was a little punky last year, but obviously more than I thought - it literally fell right off. I can see into the house from outside through the hole.
I just looked up windows on the Anderson site (which is what is in there now) and from what I found, a replacement for it starts at about $600 - yikes!
I have no idea about windows, could a handyman just replace the bottom piece of wood? can I buy a single sash - the anderson site makes it look like I have to buy both a upper and lower
It is a smaller than normal size double hung window (on the side of a large picture window), so I am guessing I will not be able to find one on craigslist, although I am going to try!
