We stayed @ a Fairfield Inn on Richmond Rd last summer for a few nights while visiting Busch Gardens. It was OK, clean, free brkfst, etc.

We are looking to go to Williamsburg again in November for 2 nights. While there, I plan on visiting the pottery again (good lord, I practically filled the car up last time we went). I would like a nice, clean, safe hotel located along Richmond Rd somewhere between that Fairfield & the Pottery.

Any suggestions from the experts? I've always found Hampton Inns to be fairly decent. How's the one in that area?

We've stayed at the Patrick Henry Inn a couple of times. It was fine. I'd really like to go to Kingmill Resort & Spa but I think it might be pretty pricey for my family of 5. :)

Kingsmill does look really nice. However, I can't justify spending that kind of $$ for just 2 nights. Someday though.

I was going to suggest the Hampton Inn & Suites. I think there is a regular HI also. The suites were very nice and we had a great suite for a family. Larger than an Embassy Suites kind of place with a full kitchen and lots of space. Very clean and some hot items at breakfast as well. It is on the main road, a little farther out than some places so thus closer to the pottery.

We stayed at The Sheraton. Was nice except don't stay in the back near the pool. It's almost underground and are rugs were damp. They gave us back half our money when I complained. If you stay on an upper floor you'd be fine. Had a nice restaurant and pool. I thnk kids ate free too.

We've been to Williamsburg twice.

The first time we stayed at Springhill Suites, which is in the area you're requesting, provides a free breakfast, and has a small fridge/microwave in the rooms. It's close (even walking distance) to restaurants, and there's a Residence Inn in the same parking lot.

The second time we stayed at the Marriott. It's an older Marriott, and though it's close to Busch Gardens, it doesn't have a whole lot going for it.

If you'd like to read my detailed descriptions of each place (plus Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens), which I wrote while they were still fresh in my mind, check out www.epinions.com ; my epinions name is tlbp.

MrsPete - I was thinking about Springhill Suites also. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I've got some research to do!
