Will We Need a Separate Card to Get the 10% Merch and Dining AP Discounts?

I never did understand the "purpose" of the separate "discount card" they were giving Passholders in addition to the actual Passholder card.

Seemed very redundant.

There was a while there when people weren't being given an AP card. So they had to have a discount card. And then some people were reporting not being able to get those.

At the time, seemed like a number of Passholders had no card at all. This was very confusing when the only "proof" you had an AP was your MDE account, but there was supposed to be Passholders discounts outside of WDW.

And that's exactly what was confusing to me. Along with previous descriptions of people being denied any card.


And in this thread...will I get a card? You won't get that card but you'll get this card.... That seemed confusing to me. "Yes you'll get a card and it will look like this" now makes sense.

Sorry to hijack ... but this threat has brought up a problem I didn't even know I had! LOL!

We will be at WDW on August 24th. We had APs that will expire on August 26th. I renewed them online at the 60 say mark so that I could make my FastPasses etc ...
So I now have one pass that expire on the 26th of 2016 and and another that expires on 27th of 2017. Everything is linked to my MDE account without incident.

I customized my bands and received them with the sliders but no cards of any kind (I deconstructed the box to be sure...) Does this mean that my bands aren't active and I have to stop at GS to have them activated on the correct day of our trip? or will they just work? Do I need to stop at GS for this card? Can they not just scan the band for discounts??
