DH, FIL, MIL & I are going to try to do a CP Dinner package. It will be our first time going to WDW during Holiday season (Dec 2-9) and we have never done a dinner package. I'm thinking of going with Biergarten because it is a little less expensive than some of the others and I don't want to spend a lot of money when I don't know if we will like it. We will be trying for Dec 6, first show. The menu lists items that seem harmless enough, but has anyone out there tried it and really liked it? Do they use any "strange seasonings" that my in-laws may not like? If we want to go to the 5pm show, will we then have to eat before the show? Thanks for any help and opinions.

Strange seasoning..definately not. Think comfort food, home style cooking and that is what you will be eating. Biergarten is wonderful.

Food is very good. I know you want to see the show, but if your looking to
save money, just book the last seating for lunch.

You will enjoy the food. Lots to choose from and no strange seasonings. It is our families favorite at WDW.

My 7 year old son and I ate there in June and loved it. He is a picky eater and a diabetic. He ate tons of food. This was his favorite place as far as food goes. I give it a thumbs up.
The show and wait staff was fun too. Most of the guest get into the spirit of the show.

German food tends to be heavy on vinegar and fennel. Sausages, potatos - lots of starch. The chicken at Biergarten is really good and isn't "unusual" at all (but I'm realizing that I grew up in a German family - yes this is comfort food....if you grew up in a German family - and unusual spices depend on what you find usual). Beets. Cabbage. Spaetzle (which is basically a sort of egg pasta - I think its yummy).

I am of German descent and didn't eat a lot of German foods growing up. I think the food is seasoned more to American tastes. There is so much to chose from if you don't like one thing there are several more to chose from.

I think you'll be fine. But, that said, my 16-year old DD didn't like it at all. She's very much into simple, plain food and she was so turned off by the offerings that she didn't even give the chicken a fair chance. The rest of the family is the opposite. We are adventuresome and we gave it a nice thumbs up for a German buffet.

The Biergarten is one of my favorite restaurants. I found there to be plenty of variety, but I'm not known to be a picky eatery. I've usually gone with family (who were raised on authentic German cuisine) and they give it good marks.

I'll be going alone at the end of the month...so I'm a bit curious how I'll find the shared table concept as a single. I can taste the spaetzle and sauerbraten now...

Hi, Lori!

My whole family LOVES Biergarten! There are plenty of different foods to eat; and the atmosphere is FUN!! Some people don't like the community seating, but we enjoy the chance to meet other people! You may or may not have to share a table, but the 2 times we've shared, we enjoyed the experience immensely! :goodvibes The show is lots of fun.

If you're going to the 5 p.m. CP, you won't have time to eat prior. I believe the 1st dinner seating isn't until at least 4 p.m. and you'd be way too rushed. When you call for the CP package, the CM will suggest a good dining time for your family. It would probably be 6:15-6:30.

We're doing the CP and Biergarten again this December too! Can't wait!!

I am a picky eater and generally don't like ethnic cuisine or much other than american and italian food. That said, I really enjoyed Biergarten. There is plenty of variety and the spices/seasonings are not overpowering.

Yes, you will :cool1: we've been going to Biergarten since our first trip and it's a "must do" every time. My kids have loved it as toddlers...and now teens. Have a wonderful time :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Another "must" person here for Biergarten, and I have been known to eat here twice on trips.

The food and entertainment is both great, and you may be surprised how "German" American food actually is. Sausages and brautwurst (like franks), chicken schnitzel (breaded filet), spatzel (kinda like french fries, fried thin patato). Sound similar to what you might get anywhere? It's just more authentic here, to German standards. I do have a taste for German food and I don't agree with the person who said it was a more American version here, rather American food has a lot of German heritage to it.

The only complaint I've seen about this place - And this is from other people because I actually love this set-up - Is that the tables are communal. You may be at a long table with two other parties who you don't know. It's great if you like to meet people, but others may be intimidated.

We love Biergarten! The food is wonderful and alot of it isn't too different from what we eat every day. One correction to something form a previous poster...the spaetzle isn't a fried potato...they are tiny dumplings made by pushing a dough thru a seive like tool. They are wonderful and the flavor is much like any other pasta/dumpling except I think I taste some slight seasoning in them, like maybe nutmeg or something(barely enough of a difference to even notice). They do have roasted potatoes, sliced pork, chicken schnitzel(which is basically a chicken cutlet breaded and fried(yummy), mac and cheese, sausages that appear to be hot dogs and brats, cold salads, cold sausages, sauerkraut, gravies(nothing strange here, tastes like something from home), apricot marmalade to put on your pork, roast chicken, and a few other things I'm sure I'm forgetting. If you eat at dinner instead of lunch they also offer rouladen and sauerbraten on the buffet. We always eat a late lunch here to save money. The show is wonderful and we've always had fun talking with the people we are sitting with. I highly recommend you try it!!

So what is a good time for Biergarten reservations? Ours are for 6:55pm on 9/29. Just want to be sure we get in on the show! :confused3

I think the show is every hour. We've been able to see it every time we've eaten there without *waiting around*.

the food was americanized german, no weird stuff as i remember ( unless you think saurkraut is weird)and absolutely fantastic florintine cookies ( got the recipe and they are even good at home) there was ( when we went ) "normal" roast chicken and pork as entree meats, a selection of stuff any one would eat as well as spatzle and i think red cabbage as i remember and some other more german stuff. we liked it but i am german ancestry so it was normal for me. i think it would be easy to find normal stuff for picky eaters.
