Will we like Akershus? (we don't like Boma)

I just scheduled lunch at Akershus for next week.

We really want it more for the atmosphere & enjoying the princesses one last time before my kids turn their nose up at the whole experience. We've never been to Akershus and always enjoy visiting different Disney restaurants for the theming, atmosphere, etc.

That being said, we don't like the food at Boma. I realize they are totally different, but just wondering what your experiences have been -- if you like one and not the other, like both, or what?

We're doing lunch, as it seemed like it might have more to offer food-wise that we'd be interested in.

{shrug} I really like Boma's, but don't like Askerhus. So, you might be in luck ;).

What don't you like about Boma's? We love the food at both, now to say that to say this, I have not eaten at Akershus since it turned into a Princess hangout. This used to be a must do for us on every visit. I love the meatballs. It use to be a buffet for everything. Now, I understand that it is not a complete buffet.

Boma's changes their soups on different days of the week. I think the Seafood Gumbo is worth a trip there. If you are a picky eater, I would eat somewhere else.

The Norwegian meatballs (kjottkaker) are awesome, even though they "sound" odd on the menu. My kids even like them.

They will always bring you a grilled chicken dinner.

I will say that I like the [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Fra Koldtbord the best at Askershus. My DH LOVES the herring. I used to eat the trout (which lo longer appears to be on the menu) but had the lamb last year and was not impressed. Is the food too spicy for you at Boma? I think that Askershus is less spicy, but with distinctive flavors it is definitely not a "meat and potatoes" place. If you're looking for a princess interaction, I would recommend breakfast there.

FWIW, I am an adventurous eater.

I haven't eaten at Boma's. But we found the food at Akershus to be bland. It just wasn't for us. We actually left there NOT stuffed. The desserts were good though. :confused3

I love Boma, but I don't really care for the food at Akershus, at least not at lunch and dinner. Though I did like the desserts at dinner when I ate there in October. Have you considered breakfast there? The potato casserole at breakfast is yummy.

We did lunch with the princesses and really had a great time. It was the highlight of the trip for my little 4 year old girl.. she was in heaven with all the characters. My family also liked the food especially the cold bar with all the vegtables and the kids were very glad to have a chicken breast with vegatables instead of the same old nuggets & fries that seem to be the only choice for all their meals. I would do it again:)

It's been a while since we've eaten at Akershus, (the last time it was still a straight buffet sans Princesses) but hubby HATED it. I thought it was just okay. Guess we're just not that adventureous when it comes to food.

We did the Princess breakfast and it was regular breakfast fare. Definitely much more about the princesses than the food.

We do LOVE Boma, though! It is one of our favorite spots to eat!!!!!!
