Hi all!! Quick question.....

We got my husband the Richard Petty Rookie Experience (8am) and scheduled my son for the pirate adventure (9:30)for the same morning of our Oct trip.

On the custom maps I recieved, it looks like the racetrack and the GF are really, really close. Will we have enough time to say happy racing to daddy and still set sail? Can anyone tell me if they are within walking distance to each other?

Also, while they are having a great time with their morning, my daughter and I are looking forward to some girl time :woohoo: Any suggestions on what we can do with our 2 hrs?

Thanks so much!!

Michele

They are definitely not in walking distance of each other...not unless you like to walk a couple of miles. The maps are very deceiving.

DH and myself did Richard Petty last October. It takes about 3 hours-depending on class size. It is not just your DH that will be doing it and you are there with folks doing drive alongs, rookie and kings experiences all at the same time. Not sure if you would be able to swing seeing him take to the track before you had to head over to the pirate adventure. At RP, they have classroom instruction first, then they come out onto the track in a van and give the class the lay of the track (with instruction in the van). Then they take ride alongs first...then you finally get to drive on your own. So with that in mind, you probably wouldn't see him actually taking off in the car-but the track does take photos of everyone in the cars if that is any consolation.

Your DH should have a lot of fun with RP. We did it thanks for our Amex points! (Figured we had saved them long enough...might as well use them).

As far as something fun to do while you and DD have some girl time...hard to say. You can always hop the monorail and see about renting the water mice over at the Contemporary. It is a lot of fun and not very pricey...think it was in the neighborhood of $25 for a half hour. We also like to just wander around the resorts sometimes because we are so caught up in the parks most vacations that we forget to check out the other stuff. DD and DS love to wander the Polynesian. There's so much to do...shopping (or just browsing), having a quiet breakfast at GF cafe, checking out the Poly or GF beach (even though you can't swim in the lagoon), the arcades are okay, although the best one IMO is over at BC/YC.

Hope that you find something that will make the time special for you and DD. We are counting down until our trip in October also and still putting the finishing touches on our plans. :)

I like the water mice idea - gives us a chance to "smell the roses".

This is our first trip together since the kids were born and since I haven't been in over 11 years, I'm sure I will be lost!! There are soooo many new things to do, i'm learning, it's gonna be like going for the first time. We are sooo excited:dance3:

Thanks so much - and we hope you have a wonderful trip!!
