I have seen many posts where people are able to bridge the value of their ticket towards an AP.

But now that tickets expire, what happens if your ticket expired before you get to use it? Does anyone know if Universal will apply the value of the expired ticket towards a new ticket or AP? Has anyone done this? The only post I found was back in 2017.

I have e-mailed Universal but I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this.

if its expired its expired - it no longer has value
Wow, that's really harsh! I'd think they'd let you apply the original purchase price to a new ticket, and I think that's what Disney does but I admit my focus has been cruises for several years more than either set of parks so I'm not sure. :)

Well I ended up phoning yesterday and I was told NO. She said once the ticket has expired that's it. I explained that Disney lets you use the value of the expired ticket towards a new one and I thought Universal does the same but she said no.

I also received a reply to my e-mail and they also said NO.

UO does hold to that policy expired tickets have no monetary value

Not harsh at all and you can’t use the argument that Disney does it. They aren’t Disney.

Sorry but I wouldn't expect any company to honor expired tickets in any way. I mean maybe it they were expired by like 2 days of something, maybe I’d beg but I’d still know they’d likely say no.

I've never heard that Disney lets you upgrade expired tickets.

Really Old tickets fell under the "never expire" category, but otherwise, I was under the impression that you had to upgrade/bridge while the ticket was still valid.

I think expired means expired at both WDW and Uni....

There’s been many reports on DIS of people applying the value of an expired ticket towards a new one or an ap for Disney. It seems to be s.o.p. for Disney.

Do you have any links to these reports? I'm intrigued...

I don't have a link, but it is true for disney. If your ticket has expired and has never been used, you can exchange it for the current price paying the increase. You can buy a more ticket, but you cannot buy less. If you have a hopper, your have to buy a hopper. No cutting the number of days, etc., back. It can be more but not less than your expired ticket.

In other words, if you give them more money than you had paid, they will let you apply the cost of the expired ticket to a valid one.

In the case of this thread, what disney does does not matter, universal has a firm expired has no value.

Thank you skylock!

Since the UO info has been explained regarding expired tickets, thread is now closed
