Will this work? WPF&M Tickets

I read through Cheshire Figment's thread : Everything About WDW Tickets but I still don't know if what we want to do will work.

We are planning a trip to Universal for 3 nights and then to WDW for 7 nights. We want to fly in the day before our trip begins because the cost of flights is so much cheaper. I was thinking we could stay on Disney property for the 1 night and then head to Universal.

DH & I have APs but we got the kids 8 day WPF&M tickets. Can they use some of their WPF&M options without activating their 8 park days? I know the WPF&M option is good for 14 days but we have always used those on the other end of our trip, never at the beginning. We don't want to activate the park option until we come back after our Universal stay.

I saw that Cheshire Figment said they are like 2 tickets on one but does using one start the time ticking for the other option?

I believe using even WPF&M options starts the clock on the 14-day use period.

Based on what you have listed you would be fine to use day 1 & 2 at Disney for 1 night.

Then go to Universal for 3 nights. (Days 2, 3, 4 & 5) and finally back to Disney for 7 additional nights. (Days 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12)

If your tickets are part of your Disney package, you can pick up your tickets up to 3 days before your Disney package begins, but no earlier. For you, that means the earliest ticket pickup date would be the start date of your Universal stay, right? The Disney tickets would be unavailable if you came in to WDW for one night previous to your Universal stay. However, if you bought your tickets separately from your Disney resort stay, then you would have time to use them before your full Disney stay.

Using WPF&M option from your tickets would start the 14 day countdown for the entire ticket. But my math tells me 3 nights at Universal, 7 nights at WDW is only 10 nights/11 days, so you would still have time on the ticket. Example, if you started using the tickets on a Sunday, last day of availability would be the 2nd Saturday following.

Some Disney resorts have real nice pools. Such as WL, Poly (possible pool construction), CR, or BC/YC which has the fabulous Stormalong Bay pool complex. Moderates like CBR and POR have great pools with slides, and multiple pools. AoA has a real fun feature pool, plus 2 others. Perhaps if you chose your one-night Disney resort well, the resort pool would be sufficient, and you wouldn't have to worry about using your Disney tickets.

Thank you so much!! We bought the tickets separately and have them in hand so the kids could head off to DQ or a water park. Does the 14 day time frame mean that the 8 day PH can be used with a resort day in between? I guess I always thought the 8 days had to be used in a row.

The tickets don't have to be used in a row. Just have to be used within 14 days from first date of use. They're flexible bc so many visitors have multiple plans for their Orlando stay that might also include Universal (like you), a short cruise, etc.

No the tickets don't have to be used consecutively they just expire after 14days! So you are more than welcome to start using your Disney tickets and have a few days in the middle where you don't go to a Disney park. Lots of people do "resort days" or other Orlando attractions, its no problem
