Will they take just luggage on ME?

We're thinking of visiting family on the day we arrive at MCO. They'd pick us up at the airport. So we won't have to mess with the luggage, can we check our luggage in at home with ME tags and have ME take it to our resort and meet it there later in the day? Would they just hold it with the bellman?

DME is not intended to be used as a luggage transferral system. It is for getting guests from the airport to their WDW resort. Their bags go separetly as a 'perk' so to speak. No one knows for sure what happens to those bags that have yellow tags on them, yet have no one show up for the bus. Some say the bags remain at the airport until the owners have checked in for DME, others say that the bags will automatically go to the resort. I'm not sure I would take that chance. I would take my bags with me when I arrived at MCO.

Casual tangential observations:

Disney is not supposed to remove baggage from the airport without the owner's permission. Whether the yellow tag itself gives such permission is a weaker argument (some people fail to remove old tags when going on a new trip) compared with scanning the owner's stub at the ME welcoming area.

If baggage is held at the airport waiting for the owner's stub to be scanned, other existing glitches, although rare, when they occur, can unduly delay delivery of baggage to legitimate guests' rooms.

Holding baggage at the airport waiting for the owner's stub to be scanned actually adds a conscious step to the labor of transporting the baggage.

Looks like we'll take our bags with us. Last time we used ME, we just went from the plane to the bus and never saw our luggage. I had realized the scanning of our ME tickets at the bus check in was connected to our luggage.

We were planning on ME to get us to the airport at the end of our stay. I think I've heard that one way is ok?

One way (either way) is fine. Just make sure to make your reservation for the return trip in advance - the earlier the better.
