Will they feed kids in the kids clubs?

This is a great question. In general, the answer is yes, but I'm sure they draw the line somewhere. Definitely consider asking your server when you get there.

Can one of the CMs around here (or former CMs) tell us what the actual policy is as far as ages of children eating in the MDRs without kids, or maybe it is on a case by case basis.

I don't know about an actual policy, but that doesn't mean there isn't one (it wasn't my department and any MDR questions I would direct guests to their head server lol)
But, CM at DCL have it drilled into them not to be alone with a child. But it could well be different as the MDR is a very public area. CM are also well trained to scoop up any children (around 8 and under) and return them to the club/lab, where ever they are on the ship (Ive had parents pop to the bathroom on the pool deck and come out and freak out because their kids gone, but a CM came across them and (with another CM because they're not allowed to be alone with them) took them to the club...).
I would think that for Club/lab aged kids it would be subtly discouraged.

My kids never ate anything in the kids clubs when they were 5 and 6. I think it depends on the kid. If your kid was in the middle of something and someone said, "Do you want to leave your game/craft/activity and come have a sandwich?" would they do it if no one was making them? I know mine won't! I don't know about the larger ships but I was actually really disappointed in the food options on the Wonder between about 2pm and 6. We had late dining because we had booked last minute and the kids were always starving by late afternoon and there was nothing appealing and healthy available anywhere. We got pretty tired of the options on the pool deck after a couple of days. I picked them up from the clubs one day at 230, found out they hadn't eaten anything, despite me reminding them to stop and eat lunch about 20 times when I dropped them off, and I tried to order a late lunch from room service. The wait was almost 90 minutes! I really wish they had at least part of the buffet open in the late afternoon and early dining hours so that people had an option that was between sit down dining and junk food!

The have some healthy options on deck. Fruit, milk, wrap sandwichs.
