Will they cancel my ressies?

I'm trying to whittle down our reservations for next week, but still waiting on input from our travel companions. If I have dinner ressies for the same time at two different restaurants, will they actually cancel one of them on me?

I'm planning on canceling the non-needed reservations when I can, but I want to make sure they don't disappear on me!

I have never had reservations for the same time frame, so I cannot speak from personal experience. People have said that Disney can cancel one or both when two are being tied up. I would cancel one ASAP, so you never have to find out. In the future, if you must book two (because you are unsure of final plans) put some time between them. Hopefully, everything works out and you get the one you want. Good luck!

They will not cancel them. Think of the sheer chaos this would cause in Disney with people showing up and their ADR's not being there. Disney strives to make people happy with their experience. If this practice was put into place without forewarning and explicit definitions from them there would be ALOT of unhappy people.

Yes they can and may cancel both of them.

Several months back when the "updates" were put in place with the reservation system, a "double booking" feature was rumored to be in affect.
Meaning if the system noticed 2 different restaurants for the same time frame it would delete both, not notifying you of the cancellation.

There is no way to say for sure whether your ressies will be canceled, but why risk it. Make the commitment with one, that way you have your choice.

Reading the threads of people who had realized their adrs were canceled was sad....some got them back, others did not.

It's your choice, just ask yourself is it worth the risk?

Have a safe and happy trip!

No they will not cancel your reservations. I have done this many times for various reasons and I have never had a problem.

If the system catches it, they can cancel the res~probably won't but yes, they can

sorry, but, I for one, hope they do. Many other people are trying to plan their trips and make their reservations.

When i tried to book a adr on a date that i already had a reservation made on; and when i tried book it the web page would come up and say something like "reservation for that date--do you wish to cancel or change the original res. Or something like that. But didn't automatically cancel it out.

not gonna lie - I pretty much feel the same as smidgy. I'm trying to make adr's for next week since we had a drastic change of plans beyond our control. How do I know you're not holding one that I'm trying to get? :headache:

I *am* planning on canceling the ones I'm not going to use, just working things out with uncooperative family members.

Officially- I don't think so.

Unofficially- Yes and they do. It has happened in the past.

But you are still holding on to a reservation that you aren't going to end up using.

Disney has been known to cancel both. I'm all for it.

I don't think it's bad for a week or so, until you get things figured out. but a lot of people make tons of reservations, then on the trip decide which ones they want.
I saw on a cancellation thread one family had reservations for Le Cellier on 5 dif. days! (going along with the old "well, you don't know when you're going to feel like eating")

on the flip side, I heard of a family of 4 who had reservations for 2 and for 4 at 2 dif restaurants at the same time (and one was cancelled) and they had a very good reason.:
grandma and grandpa live locally and were taking the kids to a character meal, while mom and dad were having a date night! in retrospect , she should have made the reservations under her parents name.. who knew?

There have always been rumors. There have always been overzealous CMs talking about the rumors.

The cancellations were during the upgrades, and they were more like disappearances, not really cancellations.

Meanwhile, other people, like me, held on to two ADRs (same place, same time, one for my family of 3, one for my cousin's family of 5) at the same time and did not have them canceled.

I don't think we should use unexplained problems that happened during a MAJOR systems upgrade as being proof that things might be cancelled...especially when the system itself asks you IF you would like to cancel one, but allows you to NOT cancel it...

OP, I did the 2 ADRs I did because of hesitant family members. I figured that we'd have at least the 3 of us, but if the other 5 wanted to join they had an ADR as well. We could check in, let them know that they were together, and *maybe* we'd be seated together. Turns out they didn't want to go there, and ultimately neither did we, so as soon as we realized that (approx 2 days before) I cancelled both of them...
