Will there be a future Poly DVC?

I couldn't imagine where'd they'd put it (except perhaps across the street, and then what's the point of that?)

I believe they want to put DVC at all the resorts. Whether it actually happens (Disney can change their mind) and how long it takes is another question...

It would be an awesome option, if it ever came to be. :thumbsup2

I suppose they could, but does the Poly have so much empty space so often that they'd considered (effectively) permanently turning the space over to DVC?

I can't imagine they would simply take one of the current longhouses, refurbish it and sell as DVC units. Those buildings are nearly 40 years old and starting to show their age when compared to other four-star resorts. Even with a decent refurb, I'm not sure how many people would be willing to invest in those current Poly buildings knowing they will be 100 yrs old at the end of term. Can you imagine if DVC had simply refurbished the North Garden Wing at the CR? :headache:

They may be able to find other space for a DVC wing (parking lot?) or the more aggressive approach would be to demolish some (or all) of the existing resort and re-build. A complete re-build would be costly but I bet Disney could justify it. With better use of that land they could add rooms, modernize the entire facility and still maintain the setting and theme that people love. Heck, the presence of a couple hundred DVC units (with points being sold at $120+ per) could more than pay for the entire project.

I think DVC at the Poly will happen eventually. But hard telling how far off it may be. BLT may have been in the works for a decade or more.

Well if it is their intention to do just that (tear down and build), I think Poly would be one of the best places for it. I know a lot of people with a long time fandom of that resort.

I think I'd actually be more interested in GF though. It's styling is more my liking and the lobby is cozier. The Grand Ceremonial House is always loud and freezing to me. Like entering a really huge chest freezer. Love the beach though.

Somehow I doubt DVC buildings would be anywhere near the beach though.

Is there room for a DCV at the GF?

In the case of the GF, I could see them converting existing buildings to DVC. In terms of the infrastructure, the GF is much more modern than the Poly. The GF has the type of accommodation that guests expect in the 21st century whereas the Poly is still (in my mind) 70s architecture & building techniques with a layer of modern accoutrements splashed over the top.

The Grand Floridian was conceived as Disney's attempt at a five star resort. But they were never willing to spend the money (operationally) to achieve that level of service. Now that the Four Seasons is building a true five star resort on property, many think that occupancy at the GF will begin to slide making it a good candidate for a future DVC. DVC has emerged as Disney's best solution for low resort occupancy (Disney Institute closed to build SSR; 5th & 6th floors at AKL turned over to DVC; Contemporary North Garden Wing demolished for BLT.)

They could tear out the luau area and build a DVC building in that location. No loss there.

They could add longhouses were the current self-parking is located and move the self-parking across the street with a sky bridge for guests to cross over.
