Will the walkway from the MK to GF be open by the 50th?

I know the building of the walkway hasn't been confirmed, but suppose they actually were building it…would it be done in time for the 50th?

Also, how long of a walk do you think it would be? Quarter of a mile? Half a mile? I'm so bad at judging distances myself. I'm wondering because I am thinking about staying at the Poly for the 50th and I think it would be a nice alternative to walk versus waiting for the boat or the monorail. I have walked from the Poly to the GF before so I know it's not a bad walk…just wondering how much further it would be.

Thanks!

not only is the walkway confirmed, it is almost done. The walk from GF to MK is about 10 min,.5 miles

I think it will be done for the 50th.
Its about time it was completed.
I would hate to pay the cost of staying at GF, and have the monorail come by and be full. Stayed at the Poly and saw this happen many times.

I love being able to walk to the MK from BLT, especially when I'm in a rush. Now we'll be able to walk from all of the monorail resorts :-)

We had this happen to us almost every day of our week long stay in Feb 2018. And one morning it was 5 or 6 monorails on the trot. At that point we stomped off to the boat dock, got the boat, and went and had a moan at city hall that we had missed 2 of our 3 fastpasses due to the monorail issues. The lovely chap there reinstated our barnstormer and Peter Pan fastpasses for later in the day, which helped us to cheer up a bit, but I was pretty grumpy for a while afterwards!

Magic Eight-ball says it is unlikely since there is still lots of work left and a bridge is still missing.

Almost all completed except the bridge. I don't remember if the missing bridge is sitting there waiting to be installed.

Thanks! I'm feeling better about staying at the Poly now. That was the biggest drawback to me, versus staying at BLT.

It’s funny because I’ve been to WDW many, many, many times over the last 30 years, but last year was the first time I stayed at the Poly. When I left MK, I decided that I would just walk back because of course the walking path towards the boat dock where the smoking section is had to lead to GFR, to my surprise, it was a pathway to nowhere.

I love being able to walk to EPCOT and DHS from Beach Club or BWV instead of hopping in my rental car wait for a boat, even if it might take a little longer, moreso the DHS walk. So having the ability to walk from the Poly to MK will be a nice perk when the bridge is completed

haha - yeah, we did the same thing a few years ago! Figured we'd walk to GF to check it out, have a drink and take monorail back to EPCOT. I recall we were mystified that no one else was taking advantage of the awesome walking path we were on...
We prefer the option to walk if possible, and really enjoy staying at BW or BC for the ability to walk to three of the parks. Once this walkway is open, I think we will finally take the plunge and stay at GF or Poly.

I understand many have mobility issues, but I feel as though not enough people utilize their legs to get places on Disney property (where they can). I love the walk from the Boardwalk to DHS

Oh yeah - we agree there. If we can walk to it, we do! Usually we are down in the colder months at home (up north) and I always like to soak up as much sunshine and warmth as I can while there!

So, did that path ever connect to the Grand Floridian before?
No, they could never decide on how to cross the canal, taking into account that the Electrical Water Parade floats are stored there. Plus the Liberty Square riverboat has to use it to get to the boat yard by the Contemporary.

I agree. I found that out the hard way a couple years ago when I watched HEA and then walked out of the MK and saw the absolute mob scene monorail line. I ended up walking over to The CR and hopped on a very full monorail from there, but that was the first time I realized the advantage of staying at BLT vs The Poly.
