What kinds of special things will the resorts do for your special occassion? I have heard of them doing room view upgrades, is that a possibility?
:)

Yes, upgrades are a possibility...

I'll put in the one "standard disclaimer" - don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed! If there is something you REALLY want, book and pay for it yourself...

Now, having said that, most of the "pixie dust" and special stuff depends on a lot of things...time of year and how busy the resort is, the individual CM, and sometimes you!

When you are booking rooms, ADRs, etc definitely tell EVERYONE that it is your wedding/honeymoon and remind them when you check in!

You already mentioned (in another thread) about getting the wedding ears, that could help get you some extras too! Also, go to Guest Relations in any of the parks to get the free buttons (Just Married/Newlyweds).

When we stayed at the Boardwalk, we got one of the Mickey and Minnie wedding picture frames from the staff. We also got free drinks at Epcot. There were lots of "congratulations" and well wishes from CM's and other visitors too!

Some folks have gotten free desserts at restaurants, or maybe special seating on the rides (like a boat all to yourself at POTC or IASW)...

There are lots of opportunities for pixie dust!

We went to the Adventurer's Club the night after our wedding. Since we had been there before, they got very excited about our "Just Married" buttons.

"The Maid" brought us - two plastic drink cups with slices of "bar fruits", two special Adventurer's Club pins and two napkins wrapped around some shark teeth. :rotfl2:

She said she had been to my Bridal Registry and was giving us her removed molars, since that was what I seemed to want most.

It was too funny! Especially since my adult kids were with us and had never been there before. They were totally impressed :thumbsup2

:confused3 Wha?

DH called the resort and asked for Champagne and Chocolate Covered Strawberries, and they said they were already planning on doing something for us, but they would do the champagne and strawberries instead.

At Cinderella's royal table, we got the mickey and minnie wedding frame, but since my DB and SIL got it for us too, we took this one to World of Disney and got a gift card for a future purchase.

We went to Disneyland for our honeymoon and were given free dessert in a couple places, and the hotel send us sparkling cider and chocolate covered strawberries on our first night there.

It seems to me that birthday pins get more free stuff than the just married ones. And i think its wrong, your birthday comes every year, while you only get married once (hopefully).

I know the average is not to expect anything. That being said we got alot of well wishes and the Poly allowed us to stay two nights conceirge in the same room which was worth millions at that point. I don't think I had stayed more than one night at any one resort until after the wedding. After that we got on the cruise and that was phenomenal. We were treated so well to the point that Leif and I are ready to go back and go back quickly.

I think I had my hopes up too high, we got a couple of things, but not as much as I was thinking we would. I know, I know, I shouldn't have hoped for anything, but when you read all the stories about what others get, you can't help it!!

I did wear my ears all week, and we both wore our pins. We did get a mini bottle of Champagne and a card from the GF, 2 glasses of Champage from LeCellier and 2 extra Fast passes for any ride from a CM at MK. We also got lots of attention and congratulations from CM's and other guests, so we felt special, but no upgrades, no free desserts and no free wedding goodies. It was an amazing trip regardless, but really keep in mind you might get very little in tangible freebies, but the fun of all the congratulations is priceless!!

:rotfl2: Thanks for the help translating, Maria. Yes, it was at a comedy type club on Pleasure Island, and they were just "messin" with us. Loved it though.

I'm not sure if this had to do with being our honeymoon, but we got an amazing corner room overlooking the river at Port Orleans French Quater. We also got a set of champagne glasses at Cinderella's Royal Table, a free dessert at the Coral Reef, and a lot of well wishes around the park. I didn't even know about the pins until my husband snuck out to get them (he had done his research!).

We had an amazing time, especially considering everything came as a surprise to us.

We had dinner the first night of our Disneymoon at Boma. After our meal, our server came to our table and gave us this & it was delicious. :goodvibes

We didn't expect anything and thats what made it great. No resort upgrade since we already booked a suite but mousekeeping did some cute towel arrangements.

The best thing that happened while we were wearing our wedding ears was getting picked to be the Grand Marshalls in the MK parade.

I think the best advice, like someone else said, is to not go w/super high expectations. Wear your pins and/or ears, and put honeymoon on ALL your reservations, and hope for some pixie dust, just don't expect it.

We go no upgrades room wise. We did get free desserts a few times...slushies at a stand at MGM and then cookies at Epcot. And a personalized menu from Narcoosee's. I'd heard of getting free champagne in restaurants...well we never did. We had confetti on our table at Crystal Palace. And I think that's it. LOTS of congratulations from everyone. But I didn't expect anything so we were very excited about everything. Oh and another couple at CP gave us some fastpasses they weren't going to use.

I think it really just depends on who you come into contact with. I've read ladies post on here who got nothing and were pretty upset...but really, you can't expect anything, no one is obligated to do/give you anything, although it is nice when they do!! :goodvibes
