Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

I have this issue with movies that people are so passionate about. I hear how wonderful it is and then I watch it and meh. Princess Bride has never kept my attention.
Totally different movie genre but this happened with Old School, everyone told me how great it was and though funny, it was not as great as expected.

I have very eclectic movie taste; there's not much I don't like. I'll even watch B movies just to mock them. :thumbsup2

On the other hand I adore Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Know all the lines by heart, start laughing before the funny parts. I made a friend watch with me once and she just didn't get it. She thought it was funnier to watch me and my roomate try not to laugh and ruin the film for her.

Some people don't get British humor. Thankfully, I am not one of those people.

Completely. Disliked. The Book. Argh.

That's okay. We can still be friends.

I don't like ANY of the Monty Python movies...but I saw Spamalot recently and it was hilarious.

Haven't managed to see Spamalot yet. I keep meaning to check if it'll be coming to Denver, but then I always forget.

Just went to the website and checked and for Denver it said, "This tour date has passed." :(

Dang it!

And I missed Mamma Mia when it was out here, too. :(

Maybe I should plan a trip to Vegas...

Edit: A very soon trip. Last performance in Vegas is July 13. And all my vacation, but for a single day, is gone until I accrue more. :(

Ahem, I believe your next trip should be to New England. :goodvibes

Well, that IS closer to Broadway! :rotfl:

I second that. :)

Either that or we all need to be making trips to Colorado.

!!!!!!

We have mountains! And stuff! And skiing! And stuff! And snowboarding! And stuff! And hiking! And more stuff!

And did I mention the mountains and all the things you can do in the mountains? Come quick, before the pine beetles destroy all the pine trees!*

*Only semi-facetious, because I'm really bummed about that.

I've never heard about the beetles. I live right near New Haven known as the "Elm City". No elms left though due to some kind of bug that killed them all back in the early 70s.

I love Monty Python!!!

Spamalot was awesome as well... If you haven't seen it yet you should!

Yeah!! Come visit us. :goodvibes

Yup, people are predicting that in about five years, the pine beetles will have destroyed all our pine trees. All of them, I kid you not. :sad1: Several of the camp grounds have already been closed because the trees' root systems are gone, and though the dead trees are still standing, a strong wind could blow them over.

It's really said, and it's only now that the feds are starting to take things seriously.

Yeah!! Come visit us. :goodvibes

Don't think I could swing it this year, but maybe next... :goodvibes

Hey guys! Firstly, may I say that I'm glad to see you all have so much fun on my thread even when I'm not regularly posting!:rotfl2:

Seriously, it's nice to read the discourse.

I waited patiently for Southwest to come out with a DING fare in celebration of their 37 years in business.

And they did.

But not for my dates. Seriously, I give up. And I don't care!

PIRATE!!!!

The DING fare was $83 one way, but was only good on Tuesday or Wednesday. I am lamenting that I chose to do Sunday to Sunday. Never again, I say! Nev-ah!

But anyway, there was no reason to even consider trying to switch my dates or plan around this airfare because it wasn't enough of a savings for me to say, oooo, I need to consider that.

Actually, I'm holding steadfast to my Wilderness Lodge. I want to stay there, and darn tootin' I'll stay there. Even if it means I have to pay some ungodly amount to fly there.

So my plan is this...commandeer a vessel, pick up a crew in Tortuga...oh no, sorry...my plan is this...commandeer a vessel, kidnap Jack Sparrow...no, that's not it...OH RIGHT!!!...my plan is to wait until July like I said I was originally.

They have always offered a discount in July. And truthfully, what is the worst that could happen? There's no discount and I have to pay the exorbitant airfare that I already know exists.:rotfl2:

Honestly, I'm not worried. Because you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest...honestly...;)

Sounds like a good strategy -- either you get a great price on airfare or...you pay what you know the airfare is already.

Is DS still at an age where his ticket will be cheaper than usual?

Not on Southwest. 2+ is considered an adult. Which is fine, when they run the good fares, it's really great. I mean honestly, last year, I paid somewhere around $477 for the three of us. Yup, you read that right. This year, I'm fully expecting, unless I get a good discount, that it'll be almost double that.

Amazing what a year can bring, eh?

It's the fuel crisis -- I filled up the van tonight and had to eat peanut butter M&Ms to make it all better again.

Were they Indy M&Ms, or have your stores replaced with Batman? Or is it just Batman Reeses?

I can't keept track of these gorgeous hereo candies.

Sadly, just regular peanut butter M&Ms but since I was nowhere near a No Way Jose, it had to be the next best thing.

As if eating candy wasn't bliss enough, plastering hotties on the packaging just makes it so much better, doesn't it? :rotfl2:

Shoot, I was liking the commandeering idea. Just sail it down the east coast, pick all of the rest of us up...

Love peanut butter M&Ms! Hate reeses pieces though. No idea why!

Mmm... candy... peanut butter... I have no peanut butter cups, but I do have dark chocolate and peanut butter. I may just go add the two together...

Whereupon we discover that my husband, is indeed someone to be trusted, who apparently is eligible to partake in a pirate's life for three.

But before we commence with that which will apply to the aforementioned foreshadowing, let us digress...ever so slightly.

Remember these...my precious?

DSCI0120-1.jpg

Yup. Well suffice it to say they are not acceptable for the Black Pearl or a vacation in the World. I haven't worn them a lot, but every day when I've gotten out of work, I'll wear them from mom's to home, and you know what? They just don't make me feet go ahhh...when I tried them on initially, they felt good, but the size nine is just too big and doesn't provide the support Merrells are known for because it's not properly fitting my foot and if this sentence could possibly get any longer I think I'd have give up my near perfect score on the written portion of the SATs.

Well, that being said, I'm done with shoes. Tink, it's okay, pick yourself up off the floor. I'm done with shoes...for now. I'm going to continue to wear these lovelies...

adidas.jpg

Well, not these exactly. I own these Adidas flip flops in black/white, and a light mint green/white. I got them last year at Kohl's on sale, and had to go to two different stores to get them in my size, and I love them. That foot bed is comprised of a cushy oh so soft memory foam. These flips have ruined me for other flip flops including my whole Disney collection. Which I still keep, because I like those for by the pool. And now you know that Tink and I are really related, as it's become apparent by the past several paragraphs, that I too, am obsessed with shoes.:rotfl2:

Seriously, these flip flops are comfy. But I did wear them to the World last year, and they are not good for all day touring. So I have a new strategy R2...let the wookie win...no, that's not it...use the Force, Luke...no, that's not it either...oh yes! I'm going to switch between these flip flops and my comfy sneakers I use to work out in every day. Perhaps...just perhaps...if a coupon code tickles my fancy, I'll try some other sandals out. But that remains to be seen...in future chapters...which hopefully, will not all be devoted to shoes. Not that there's anything wrong with that (TINK!) ;) .

So after having given up on the shoe front, and already feeling extremely over budget this month, I decided to dig myself a slightly deeper hole, but in a very small way. And for this, I must talk to the Professor.

Jones?

No.

JACKIE!!!

Or, as I like to call her CP.

Here it is, Mrs. Harrison Ford:

DSCI0128-1.jpg

ARR!

Thar be ye ole TK family trip binder!

Ready...

and waiting for instruction from the wise Prof. CP.:thumbsup2

Sadly, although I traveled through the land of Wal-Mart (you know how hard it is to anchor your ship there?) and found my binder, in a nice carribean blue, and purchased some paper to print out all the info I could ever want/need for this trip, I was not completely successful in my endeavors! ALAS I tell you! They were out of our printer ink. And we're practically out of our printer ink. Blast! So, I'll have to check back, and I was really hoping to get cracking on this over the weekend...with Prof. CP's approval, of course.

Which also brings me to another small point about that weekend that is not so much pre trip report related but TK family related. On Sunday, DH and I will have been married for six years. The traditional gift is iron and candy. Interesting, huh? PG, people, PG. So, quite a while ago, I got him a Jack Sparrow pocket watch...I figured at least it was metal, if not iron, and today, I got him an assortment of treasure...uh, I mean candy, to lay the watch on. I'm really excited, I hope he likes it!:goodvibes

Not sure what we're going to do yet. Movie...dinner...who knows? Any suggestions?

And speaking of DH, that brings me to our final point of the evening. Have I ever given you reason not to trust me?

So, today, DH came home and asked me what the dates were for our vacation. The 11th? I said, no silly, that was last year. It's the 14th to the 21st. Sunday to Sunday.

Why I said.

Oh, why do you want to know?

No, why do you want to know?

I felt like Jack and Barbossa in POTC3 "What are you doin'?" "What are you doing?"

The reason he's asking is because today at work, his boss asked him when it was. And then said, "well, we'll need to mark it down on the calendar." and then joked that DH was a pain in the but or some other macho manly comment that meant I'm not thrilled your going against me, but hey I need you if I have a snowball's chance in you know where of selling my business, and since I don't want to unduly anger you and risk losing you, I'm going to let you take this completely unpaid leave.

Savvy?

They still haven't mentioned the business is for sale.

Ah well.

At least the vacation's official. Not that it wasn't already. Because as soon as we heard that little tidbit about them selling and not dishing...I had pretty much decided I didn't care what they said. Which is huge for me...because I don't know if you've all caught on, but TK is a nice girl. Sometimes, a little too nice. And it can be naive. Although endearing.

I'm really working on bringing out that inner pirate.

It's there.

I swear it!

YO HO!
