Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

Okay, this is one I had done in Epcot. This was September 2006.

Sorry it's a little blurry, I had to crop my hand from a photo, so it's a really small portion of the original and I enlarged it. Still pretty, though.

Ahoy, mateys!

Here be thee non-itinerary itinerary.

Sep 14 - Early Flight :faint:
Arrive at Wilderness Lodge :hyper:
Check in, perhaps take a happy little boat ride to the MK to satisfy the required Casey's Hot Dog dining experience

Sep 15 - Coral Reef 530pm

Sep 16 - Chef Mickey's 1120am
MNSSHP - 400pm/700pm, depending on how long or costumes take/we nap

Sep 17 - Brown Derby 1230pm

Sep 18 - Boma 540pm

Sep 19 - Kona Cafe 1030am

Sep 20 - Crystal Palace 1145am
Lapu Lapu Fest - whenever Tink can fit me in :goodvibes
Spectromagic - 800pm

Sep 21 - Depart for Reality

Alright, here's the deal. Much like Tink, LL, and everyone else on these here fine boards, I've been debating my ADRs. I think that's normal, right?

Non-negotiable - Coral Reef, Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace

Would like to do - Brown Derby

Have Waffled on - Boma for Breakfast instead of Dinner or breakfast and dinner (thanks CP!), Adding in Artist Point, getting rid of Kona Cafe, getting my Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's and having another ADR to play around with

I need suggestions.

I'm indecisive.

It's been one of those days.:lmao:

I think you should change Kona to a lunch/dinner ADR and get your tonga toast from at Captian Cook's. That way you get the best of both worlds. ::yes::

You keep bringing up Artist Point....book it. ::yes:: I especially think this would be nice since you are indeed staying at WL. ::yes::

Though I am intrigued by Boma, that is being saved for future trip for us so I can't give you a suggestion. :confused3

I guess that is all the insight that I can provide. :goodvibes

Can you refresh me on what they have at Kona for dinner? My mom went on her most recent trip and felt meh...wouldn't go back...so I hesitate. Is that where they have the awesome bread, or is that Ohana's?

You know, I do, but you know what? I seriously think I could go there one night just for dessert, pay out of pocket, and be totally happy with my experience. Their dessert menu kills me. I'm just not sure where to squeeze it in.

I wish I could find it again, but there was a food porn thread/dining review with a ton of pictures of Boma's breakfast buffet. Three words. Oh. My. Lord.

Seriously.

Thanks for trying to help. Let me play around with your suggestions and see if I can come up with something. I'm going to pop over to allears.net and check out menus.

Also, I had seriously thought about doing the Akershus Princess breakfast, but never booked because I wasn't sure if DS would like it. However, since I'm doing a lot of what DS likes, perhaps he could "put up" with princesses for me. I am totally on the fence about this though...I see this as a possible fun event for next year's as yet unspeakable birthday with the fam.

I am not sure, I have seen bread at Kona in the food threads. I look at the menu and I'm like eeehhh, sounds good then I see the pictures and it's like heaven on earth. DF is really excited since I have started showing him pictures.

That's the hardest part, squeezing everything in. I was just looking at their menu and now I am all iffy. In search of pictures. :thumbsup2

I love breakfast but we have got two, so I am going to keep it at that.

I think he could deal with princesses, he can get his 3 year old flirt on. ;) That breakfast looks really yummy!

I'll have to scour the dining boards and see what I come up with.

I just had a brilliant beyond brilliant brainstorm. What if on my first night, I book an earlier dinner ADR and we just get apps and desserts? We could pay out of pocket, I would get to have a nice relaxing start to my vacation. The only kink in this is that we'll have been up for soooooo long, I don't want to push my luck with DS. Unless we get into our room early and could take a good solid nap, kwim? I wonder if there's another day I could fit this in better....

I have two breakfasts, but I could totally do more. I love breakfast on vacation.

Oh, and the flirt is quite impressive trust me. I'm sure they would all be very gracious, calling him a prince and everything. Just not sure if I should save it for next year????

I think the apps and desserts idea is fabulous. :thumbsup2 I, on the other hand am now obsessing...again. It's like a disease. :rotfl:

Yum. Yum.

He's at a good age for the flirting thing. What would you give up for it?

It sounds really good to me too. I think I may call tomorrow morning and see if they have any availability that evening. If they do, great, if they don't we can always wait until we get there. I am totally open to switching stuff around when we're there. I know it's free dining, so I'm glad to have a plan in place, but I'm sure that other people will do the same.

You know looking at my itinerary and trying to add something and subtract something literally makes my head hurt? I just poured a glass of wine, maybe that will help. ;)

I think in this respect, we need to let sleeping dogs lie. If I really, really want to see princesses, I can always go to Toon Town Fair, right? Right.:thumbsup2

And in regard to switching around, I think if I gave up Kona Cafe and went to Captain Cook's, I would really really want to do Boma twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. I don't know if I can talk DH into this...because I think we'd need to do it on the same day....I also don't know if I can handle two buffets on the same day. With a three year old, timing is everything. But I'm really jonesing for that breakfast...am I crazy?

I need to take up wine drinking, cause my head hurts too.

Agreed. You can get your princess fix another way.

You are not crazy, it is the DIS way. I don't think I would want to eat in the same place twice, won't it be hard to get to Boma two times in one day? I have been looking at the CS place at WL for breakfast and the stuff looks yummy. :goodvibes

:badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

I'm ready to throw it all out the window.

Alright, I just looked at pictures of the Kona Cafe and it looks too good to pass up. I think I need to eat my Tonga Toast there, it's just too fun of a place to miss. And I specifically didn't book a lot of dinners because what I hate about free dining is the complete lack of spotaneity. With a planned breakfast or lunch, I don't mind, because you have your whole day ahead of you.

And I only have two dinners planned, Coral Reef, must do, and Boma, really really really wanted to try it. Now checking outbound flights on the day I leave, it may be possible to leave in the afternoon and snag a breakfast somewhere. I could possibly move Kona Cafe to that day, thus ending my trip with a Tonga Toast bang, and then move Boma breakfast into its slot. This would put me over my allotments for free dining, but what they hey, this is the splurge vacay, right? I could always pay for Kona Cafe out of pocket, as that'll probably be our least expensive meal.

Oh no....

I've gone cross-eyed.

I think I'm cross eyed now too! :faint:
You will figure out what is perfect for the TK family. I promise. I think you should just go with the flow for now. ::yes::

Side Note: I have looked all over my house today, I could have sworn I had a picture of the horrible haircut but the only one I can find, I have a hood on. :lmao: I am going to my parents on Saturday so I will look then.

I give up. Except for Artist Point. That'll linger. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

I had to go reassure myself with reveiws from allears.net and food porn about Artist Point, oh and DF telling me in the nicest way possible that we will love everything we have booked and to stop making changes. "There's always the next trip, LL." Okay he didn't call me LL but he knows how much I love my new nickname. :goodvibes

Love the pic of the henna tattoo! Thanks! I am so getting one now!!!

Saw your question about Boma over on my thread and your dilemmas here.

We love Boma!!! Really, really, really love Boma! It's Charles's favorite place EVER, I think, because everytime I talk about places to eat he says, "Let's go to Boma."

So, here are our reasons why we love Boma:
1. The atmosphere of both Boma and AKL is incredible. The minute you step through the doors you feel transported to Africa.
2. The food is incredible -- interesting African influences, but not weird. Charles is the pickiest eater I have ever met, and I think he tried everything from the prime rib and salmon to all the soups, salads, and side dishes.
3. Their dessert selections -- one word: zebra domes.
4. Pressed pot of Kenyan coffee. That stuff is truly liquid gold to me!

We've never tried breakfast there, but if it is anywhere near as good as dinner, it will be our favorite breakfast place, too!

Excellent review. Thank you. I like your description of the selection and that there's something for even a picky eater. We're pretty easy to please, so I think we'll be delighted.

I can't begin to describe to you how gorgeous the food looked in that thread I found. I mean it was beautiful...and the sweet bread, pastry stuff made me drool.

I also want to add that we loved our breakfast at Kona. So don't give that one up!
Thanks. I don't want to, I like the pics of the place, and I'm not staying at the Poly so it will be nice to get the ambience of being there, feeling tropical and sassy.

Besides, did you know you can get a Lapu Lapu at the Kona Cafe? I mean, not that I'd do that for breakfast...who drinks that at 1030 in the morning?

Seriously, I'm jonesing for a nice mimosa with my tonga toast...ah...Kona Cafe.

Thanks for jumping in with another logical, reasonable opinion. I feel like I'm losing my mind. It's been a rough day.

Of course! If all goes right, I will have a tangerine daiquiri in one hand and a henna tattoo on the other! :lmao:

You are very welcome! I'll even take pics for you of the dinner selections when we are there!

They also had children's selections like pasta and chicken fingers.

Mimosas were on the menu -- I remember that!

Anytime, anytime! That's what we are here for on the DIS!

That would be awesome! If you're feeling brave, would you take some shots of breakfast too? I don't want to push my luck here, but I would be sooooooooooo appreciative.

Awesome! My kind of place. See, now I'm really looking forward to sitting down with Tonga.:thumbsup2 Okay, that sounded weird. I think my wine is kicking in.:faint:

Morocco according to the alcohol porn thread. There is a great picture of it over there.

Sure! I know I won't be the first one to take pictures there! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: It is the adult equivalent of a character meeting, isn't it? Only I guess we don't eat the characters after we meet them! :rotfl2:

In case you haven't figured it out, I am the queen of obscure movie/song references.

And right now, all I can think of is Jurassic Park.

"Yes, John, but when Pirates of the Caribbean broke down, the pirates didn't eat the tourists."
