Will TarzansKat meet Captain Jack? ~A Pirate's Life for 3 Pre-Trippie~ We're back!

When's your birthday? My DH's is Dec. 11!

We'll actually be going from the 6-8th. Bummer, I could have met another DISer!:)

Mine is December 6!:rotfl: It usually coincides with Mousefest, but not this year so I am celebrating late!! Gotta spend my birthday with my boys, Off Kilter. Chuck thinks I go for Mousefest. (Shhhh don't tell.)

I hate we couldn't meet.:sad2:

What they don't know won't hurt them...:::shhh::::;)

Ah well...I see my ouija board predicts many future DIS trips for us both...there's always Free Dining '09!!!:rotfl2:

Also, if someone replies "BORG" it means, basically, "Me too!" It has something to do with cyborgs and how they're all the same (maybe?) but that's the general gist of it.

Haven't seen "Borg" anywhere, but first thing I thought of when I read it there was Star Trek. Never a big fan of Star Trek, but wasn't the Borg that, um, massive entity-type thing that controlled various, um, borg-bits? Gah. Yet another thing that makes more sense in my head. But I can see the meaning of "borg" on the boards coming from Star Trek, is what I mean.

Finally if you see something like (NOTK) or (NOGeorgeW) or something like that, it basically means "No Offense" to whomever/whatever follows. Sometimes it's meant seriously, sometimes tongue-in-cheek.

:flower3:

Okay, thanks. I'd sorta thought it meant, but in a tongue-in-cheek way, "Let's have none of that here." So "NoBanana" would've meant  with a big red X over it.

I'm clear now. :cool1:

See, the first time I saw BORG in a trip report, I thought oh, Star Trek, the borg were all of one mind, controlled be a central borg, all thought alike, it must mean I agree...

Yes, I am a dork. And very proud of it. My favorite was Star Trek, The Next Generation. Hearing Jean Luc Picard / Patrick Stewart say "Make it so." gave me chills even as a young kid. And, feel free to poke fun, but this is a sacred series to me, as I always watched it exclusively at my grandparents house. :goodvibes

I'm clear now. :cool1:

I think you mean savvy. ;)

I have one word for you, folks.

Bounceback.

Oh, yes. You heard me.

Bounceback.

As in, my mother booked a bounceback room at the Yacht Club!

In December!

For a weekend!

For a girls only weekend with her, me, and Nana!

Please commence to picking your jaws up off the floor, as I had to do with mine.

Too cool! I would love to go when they have all the Christmans decorations up. And I agree with LL--DH will take excellent care of DS! And you do have several months to get used to the idea. :goodvibes

Thanks, LL! I knew I could count on my DIS friends to slap some gold old-fashioned Mickey Mouse sense into me!!!:lmao:

Both mom and I have always wanted to go during the holiday season. When I was in college, we would go in January and catch the tail end of the decorations, usually being taken down. So, we've never seen any of the resorts in their full regalia, and are really, really looking forward to it. I feel so, so lucky. I had originally wanted to go in December this year for DH's birthday, but free dining came out and frugal ole me decided I wanted to go in September. And then upgrade to a deluxe hotel...I see a pattern emerging...Wilderness Lodge, Yacht Club...what's next???:scared1:
Seriously, we will have to start calling you Miss TK Fancypants!

They're not always offered. I had read my mother the riot act about checking her room for an offer while she was there, so she had her instructions. I know that last year, while I was at Disney during free dining in September, there was a bounceback offer in the room to book free dining '08. And I didn't. Silly, silly TK. So I had to wait on pins and needles to see if it was released to the public. Suffice it to say, if there's a bounceback offer in my room this year, we're booking it! Worst case scenario, life happens, and you cancel and get your $200 deposit back.

The only advice I can give to you is check your room for a brochure, watch the in-room tv, sometimes its on one of the channels, and if that fails, simply ask at the front desk/concierge. Someone will surely know. :goodvibes
Ooooohkay. I think I got it. I'm trying to convince DF to go twice in 2009, so far no dice. I want to go in the fall and december...yes close together but free dining and holiday decorations...makes perfect sense to me! :rolleyes1

I am INSANELY jealous that you have another countdown ticker! <--- LL sick with envy.

I know DH and DS will be fine. I'm sure they'll have all sorts of fun, emitting various loud bodily functions, laughing, eating junk, and running around like wild men. Ah, the testosterone.:rotfl2:

Seriously, I am so not. Just this year has taken a turn I totally didn't expect!

Again, I find no problem with this.

I actually cannot believe that I have two countdown tickers for the same year. When I joined the DIS, I was so envious of people who could afford to go twice in one year, even though I used to be one of those people (ah the perks of being a cast member at the Disney Store when they were still owned by Disney).

I mean, look at that.

Does this mean I have to write another pre-trip report?

And for that matter two trip reports?

Holy carp, I'm going to be busy!

Which is totally awesome, revel in the awesome-ness.

Neither do I. When I first read your post, I thought, wow maybe I could convince DF of a long weekend in December and then I started plotting how I could get the day off from work since I have no vaca time left, then I was planning which resort, the dates, I made a mental note to ask you whenyou are going and then....reality set in. :lmao:

Hmmmm....I think it does mean another pre-trip report. I mean, you can't just throw in the planning tid bits all willy nilly in this one. It is NOT a Pirates life for 3, it just doesn't mesh. We are DIS'ers, we are more organized than that!

We're not worthy, we're not worthy.:worship: :worship:
You're worthy, you're worthy, get up.

Actually, my PTO was going a little haywire but....I actually gave them back two of my originally planned vacation days. Which means that I'm going to have extra. Which can only carry over until April of next year...now if you were my supervisor, wouldn't you just let me take off one eensy weensy little Saturday?;)

Yup. I agree.

Carp. :::sigh:::

I think if I started it now, DH would kill me. And truthfully, although I love you all, I don't think I have the energy to keep up two pre-trippies and faithfully comment on all my subscribed stuff. Best to wait until after I get back from my Sept. trip, I think.:goodvibes

I agree, you should wait until you get back, but then you will be busy with the trip report, which I am already looking forward too. Hmmm. You may just have to buck the DIS system and....sneak in little tidbits here and there.

That's been my dilemma -- with the October trip, I have been DYING to write about it, but have been holding off since I still have the June trip. I figure this rate I will never run out of things to write about!

Argh...decisions, decisions...we'll have to let Tink weigh in on this one with her sage wisdom. ;)

Seriously, though, today I called my mom mega-excited...but reservedly, because I still feel weird about leaving DS. It'll just take me time to get used to it. I told DH, it is okay, because we're all going as a family in September. I would never, ever go without him if we weren't doing the family trip.

So she and I got to talking and possibly planning. We're both really, really excited to see the decorations. I think we have also tentatively planned our days.:scared1: Yup! That's how mom and I roll.

A Pirate's Life for 3 = no itinerary but ADRs, go with the flow, fly by the seat of your pants, a pirate's life for me, yo ho, yo hopirate:

Pixie Dust Oh My = scheduled ADRs, ideas of which parks which days, planned resort stops to see decorations, etc, etcprincess:

I am so excited for you. I am also excited for me....because....I can't wait to hear your detailed descriptions and lots of pictures. Did you catch that, detailed descriptions and lots of pictures? Why? Because I am going to use your Girls Weekend trip report to convince DF for two trips next year. He will not be able to pass up the wonderfulness of free dining (Fingers Crossed) for Fall 2009 and then he won't be able to resist the wonderful holiday atmosphere once I overload him so much on pictures and descriptions, calling him into the room where our computer is and giving him the puppy dog eyes UNTIL he agrees to both trips. Pure brilliance, LL. Pure brilliance. I wish they had an evil laughter face.

All I can think of right now is Lilo and Stitch 2...or is it three? No, I think it's 2. "I am hamster-like, not gerbil-like! Now I will call you many nasty names!"

:lmao:

Oh, girlfriend, I am all about the multitude of photos and detailed descriptions. I don't care if it's only a three day trip, mom and I are splitting the pre-purchase of the photopass CD. Totally worth it in my opinion. I want to meet characters dressed for the holidays and see the resorts decorated and take hundreds upon hundreds of pictures. I told my mother if I only get on a handful of rides I'll be happy. To which she politely objected...she does like her rides, too. :goodvibes

:lmao: :lmao: Woo Hoo! I can't wait. As soon as I read your post earlier, I told DF, "TK is going on a weekend trip in December." Yep, in the LL household, DF knows the DIS'ers. :goodvibes

You can see the Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian and buy gingerbread; you can see the Candlelight Processional; you can watch fake snow fall at the Osbourne Lights thing...you can even Christmas shop!!!

Oh, you are going to have SOOOOO much fun!!!

Oh, yes. My DH is well-versed in the art of the DIS, although sometimes I have to remind him that LL is the one that's getting married, and CP is the Indy-fan. ;) Oddly, enough he knows who Tink is without my even having to clarify. Perhaps it's because we're so BORG. :lmao:

I am totally, totally buying Gingerbread, and definitely bringing some home to my men. They will go nuts for it. I love Gingerbread, I made cookies last year for co-workers. I made so many batches of gingerbread, my apartment smelled great!!! :thumbsup2

Is the Osbourne Lights in MGM? And is that every night or only special ones? I am such a Disney at Christmastime virgin.;)

It's so cute that we all have our little tags. DF thinks it's funny that you are a bank teller since I work for a bank as well, though not as a teller. That's how he identifies the TK.

Hehehe, that will be changed come December!! :dance3:

You lucky, lucky woman!!!

I am sure you will get used to the idea of not bringing DS. It is always hard leaving a child for the first time!

I am sending you tons of Pixie dust. pixiedust:

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: I told DBF that we would definately take our bounceback if we got it and go a weekend in December of '09. I am curious to hear what you think of all the Christmas goings on!

I :lovestruc gingerbread! I even burn gingerbread scented candles at Christmas.

Osbourne Lights are at MGM every night -- they are way cool!

I thought of you today, TK. I just found out that the King Tut exhibit is coming to Atlanta in November! Remember in Tomb of the Golden Bird when Carter finds the tomb and Emerson can barely contain himself! I love Egyptian stuff almost as much as I love Disney and Indiana Jones!
