Could be a rumour but Will Smith could be in line to play the Genie in latest live action of Aladdin, could be good!
If this is true, I would like to officially go on record as saying that I am available for 10 million. Hope you're listening Disney, I'm a diamond in the rough! Made for the role!Besides - didn't Will Smith want something like $20 mill for a role (don't know which one they asked him for) in live action Dumbo recently? If they turned him down for that, don't you all think the chances are he might ask the same for this, and they'd turn him down again? Or am I mis-thinking here?

Unless they are using the man who played the Genie on Broadway, I am not seeing it. I do not like Will Smith.
The original Broadway genie James Iglehart is now in Hamilton.Unless they are using the man who played the Genie on Broadway, I am not seeing it. I do not like Will Smith.

More of the reason for him to do it!The original Broadway genie James Iglehart is now in Hamilton.
I haven't seen the show, just parts of his performance on youtube. And he is incredible! We saw the show in Toronto before it moved to Broadway. Wasn't the genie amazing?

What in the world has anyone seen from his performances to suggest that Will Smith could pull off that role?
Good grief, what a bad idea.
NOBODY will ever touch Robin Williams, but I can think of others off the top of my head whose humor/style would be a much better fit than Will Smith....
-Jim Carrey
-Kevin Hart
-Eddie Murphy
-Jack Black
-Mike Myers
-Chris Tucker
-Bill Hader
There's seven right there. All better fits for that role.
Sounds pretty freakin' cool!I saw John Tartaglia as the Genie at the Muny in St Louis. He was excellent! It's an outdoor theatre - he rode in from the back seats on a motorcycle; broke the fourth wall a bit. Really funny. Still not Robin, but NOBODY is that frenetic.
