I've never been to Salon Mickey, but now that I'm a shareholder, I want to experience it on your next trip in Jan. I've read that it's packed with not enough seats and food for everyone. So do you think that this will change with the new shareholder rules??? I'm guessing that a lot of people won't renew their club membership.

I don't know what will happen in future but I think when you go affects how busy it it. We went in May outside of school holidays and at about 9.30am each day and it was never that busy.

It was fairly busy last week, but we always managed to get a seat after a while. Went between 10.30 and 11.30, only cookies left, but still a very welcome break!

I have only every been once when it was busy & standing room only but there are only a few seats anyway.

Anytime I have gone off peak it has been quiet.

I would imagine it would be quiet in January. We went in September and apart from one time we were the only people there.

I've only been twice, both times we've skipped breakfast so been in there 9ish and both times we've been the only people.

I imagine it gets busier later with people popping in for elevenses, that's what I'm planning next visit, might as well make the most of it while I still can. :)

I've been in Salon Mickey at least a dozen times since we became shareholders in 2009. In that time, only once have we gone in and not found a seat straightaway (we had to wait a few minutes) and not once have we not been offered a pastry/cookie.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, if you're going in low season midweek.

Thanks all. I'm looking forward to visiting and I guess it will be quiet then. I'm happy to hear that it isn't busy all the time.

We were there for 4 days at half term in Feb and visited every day (at various times), we only had a problem getting a seat on the last day (Friday) but there are 5 of us. Its well worth the visit just for a sit-down,visit the nice loo's and to get some warmth in the winter months. My card expires in June so we're going to take advantage again when we visit in May - I calculated that for what we have in there it would cost around £20 in the park.

how much is it to become a shareholder? i keep seeing posts about Salon Mickey and it sounds good but don't really know what its all about!

its very expensive now - as you have to have 100 shares (this rule came into force at the beginning of October). At around 5 euros per share, its not a great option anymore, especially on a first trip. My advice would be, see how you feel about the Magic at DLP. If you really think after your first trip that you want to go again and again and again, maybe then it would be worth investing in the shares.

eta - heres a recent thread about the shares -

Yes, it's expensive, about 500 euros at the moment. However, it's still an investments, if the shares will go up again you may even end earning something (I bought my 20 shares for 3,5 euros each, if only I bought more...).
If you buy the shares, get the membership and then resell, you would end up paying only the purchase commissions and taxes, not too bad.

true - but you'd have to do that every 2 years, in time to renew your shareholders club membership.

I think the new rules say that if you sell your shares you have to send your card back. Can't access the site to double check at the moment, but I think that's what it said.

The old rules were the same, they said something like: if your situation changes and you do not qualify anymore for being a shareholders club member, you must inform the club and return your card.

I'm eager to get to the Salon Mickey for the first time on my next visit, Dec 6th to 8th! I have become a shareholder just in time, only a couple of weeks before the change of shares quantity!
