We took advantage of the DVC premium annual pass deal and have planned 3 to 4 trips for the coming year. However we will not have enough points to book DVC accommodations for a 2013 Christmas trip. Can anyone please suggest a place to stay near DW that would fit a family of five.

Many Thanks!!!

We rented a home in Windsor Hills that was huge and close to Disney. It was easy to get to and from. You get a lot of bang for your buck renting a home. They have 3, 4 and 5 bedrooms. I know that there are other places that rent smaller accommodations too. Plus since you have the PAP you will get free parking so staying off site won't add a parking fee to your budget. We actually enjoyed having our van with us when we rented at WH over Easter week this past year.

You might try Bonnet Creek. It's close and I've heard the villas there are very nice.

You can rent Bonnet Creek from owners pretty reasonably.

Try the Bonnet Creek threads on the boards. They are a good resource.

Another vote for Windsor Hills...great community, great location. ( 5 minutes from AK):thumbsup2

We are in the same situation - out of points and bought PAP. We are going in Oct. and staying at OKW but it would be neat to sneak in a third trip on the passes. If we did, we'd probably stay at the LBV South Hampton Inn because I've been able to get some cheap rates there before. Or possible one of the value resorts.

I typically see people renting 2 BRs at Wyndham Bonnet Creek from Wyndham owners for well under $1,000 for a full week. I think most of them are in the $700-$900 range.

We've stayed there and it's a very large, nice resort with a TON of amenities (6 pools, 2 lazy rivers, free minigolf, spa at the hotel, etc, etc.)

WBC is located next door to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and almost within a stone's throw from OKW. It's actually somewhat more convenient than any of the Disney values or AKL/V. From WBC, I can be parked at any theme park in less than 15 minutes. They also offer free scheduled shuttles to the theme parks and DTD.

I like the idea of staying at WBC but where do I go to rent a unit?

Thanks!!!

I rented a couple weeks from an owner on Ebay. It wasn't Christmas which would likely have a higher asking price but it was memorial day weeks and I paid less than $100/night for a 2bedroom. The rooms are really nice and big and have a real dining table so that would be a plus for the holidays.

Just remember that the Christmas week could mean crowd closures and if you are off sight you will be excluded first.....you might also consider renting points although it may cost a bit more...

This is only relavent on Christmas day and Christmas Eve, and you only need to get there early (and not leave.) Staying onsite only gar. a park, but not your choice of parks.. so really same rules apply. If you want the MK on Christmas.. you had better be there at 8 AM. (or at least by 10.)

I too am doing the same thing. I am leaning to offsite as renting enough points for a week in a grand villa will be 4-5K, (taking others with me) and off site it will be under 2K. More likely time share like Bonnet Creek. (or possibly a home through vbro). Either way, I will be taking advantage of time off kiddo has through school! WOOT WOOT! AP!

Check the link edk35 gave you above. That will give you a lot of leads, not only for WBC and Windsor Hills, but lots of other offsite options. Offsite is a whole new world, ranging from a budget hotel room to 5-6 bedroom pool homes for rent.
