This is our past experience. We have 5 in our family & are planning on going in December for a dh conference. We have about $175.00 we can spend per night (dh's work is paying) & we cannot upgrade to a suite, dh's work will frown on that, so what are our other options? We have booked POR in the past during value season & it closes because of low attendance. Thanks for the help in advance.

It should be open. The only time I've heard of resorts closing was due to refurbishments.. :confused3

I know a lot of people on these boards are already booked there for December. The whole resort went under a recent room renovation (both sides), so there should be no risk of any further work.

Have a great time!

other options would be a cabin in fort wilderness or two rooms at a value... depending on specials or ap rate, you could possibly get a deluxe...

POR does not close due to low attendance. Resorts only close if refurbishment is going on. :flower:

I think what you are referring to is that POR was closed for quite sometime, they were doing the refurbishment and at the time attendence was very low (due to 911) so I think they just took their time redoing it. Whereas now, attendence has really picked up so they pick up the pace of the refurbishments like at the CR where they just close 1 floor at a time. At least that was my understanding of why POR was closed for so long. I had talked to a CM once about it.

Yes, that's true. PO - FQ was closed after 9-11 and the resort had a total refurbishment done. Generally speaking refurbishments are done in phases and an entire resort is not closed because of it.

I guess I just wanted to clarify that a resort does not, under normal circumstances, close due to low attendance. :flower:
