Will my mother have to be with us at each meal to use her DDE card?

My mother is going with us on our trip but she may not eat with us at every meal. Will we still be able to use her DDE card or do they ask for identification? Thanks!

The cardholder is supposed to be present. I have been asked for ID in the past. The only time I haven't been asked for ID is when I am paying with my room key...my name is on that.
But, if I am with a group, and I am the one with the DDE card, I have to show it with some form of ID.

I have been asked for a photo ID to use mine. This was at a food court for a less than $10 purchase. But Bistro never asked for anything for a $100 tab :rotfl2:

The cardholder has to be there in order to get the DDE discount. I was asked for my dirvers license, which I always carry on me.:)

Everybody has there own card. So you use yours where ever and she uses her's where ever she wants.

Not necessarily. Maybe the mom is the only AP holder. That was me during a trip with my sis and her family a few years ago. I had an AP and they did not. And when we ate meals, I always had to show my ID to prove the card was mine.

I think you are maybe confusing the DDE with the DDP. They are 2 different things.

Oops! Sorry. My bad! I thought it was the DDP.

If it is your mom's card, you will have to bring your mom.;) It is her discount card.

And Mom will probably need her photo ID-like a driver's license. :thumbsup2

OP-It's nice your Mom is going, hope you have lots of great times (and meals) together. :goodvibes

I think I've always been asked for a photo ID when I use the DDE card.

I have never been asked for ID.....I am the primary cardholder and so I am always present at dinner with my husband and family..

Hubby is the primary for our card and he has been asked for ID several times. I believe he isn't asked for an ID during TS dining is because we hand them the DDE card and the room card, both with his name on it. Yes the DDE rules say the discount is for the CARDholder and 9 guest and that the cardholder must be dining with the party.

DS and his wife used my DDE 2x when I didn't feel like going to dinner. I gave his wife my room card to use. If they also wanted a picture ID she was just going to say she didn't bring her purse and not take the discount. They never asked at all.

I have had a DDE for 3 years and I have never been asked for ID.

The cardholder is supposed to be present. Sometimes I am asked for an ID and sometimes I am not. They may ask for a photo ID.

If you want to chance it, be aware that you may be asked to produce ID for the cardholder.

I carry photo ID everywhere at WDW now. AND some cash. You never know if you might need them.

She has to be with you at every meal as they do ask for identification.
Why not just add on a second card.

I read the "second card" stuff as meaning you can only get a second card for a spouse.

The application I used for my latest renewal refers to it as a "spouse card."

There's also a $25 charge for the extra card.
